Pretty much a racing game

Very nice graphics. Vehicle is hard to control, and my thumbs get
tired from constantly pushing on the analog nub and the X button.
Soundtrack is so-so, pretty generic techno stuff. Supposedly there's
a way to hack the built-in web browser so it can be used for
going to sites other than the download page. I'm not quite sure
why there are so many 5-star reviews for this game. It's OK, but
nothing special.

Wipeout pure is just as good as the rest, but in many ways better, smoother faster, and just funner! (...)!

Finally, a true sucessor to XL/2097

Just got this with a launch PSP. Finally, a WipeOut game that actually lives up to the legacy of the great WipeOut XL/2097 . If you got hooked on the series in the days of the original or its amazing sequel on the original Playstation, this is for you. The game controls much the same, with some small additions and tweaks. The tracks have a simliar feel to XL, The menu graphics are very similar to WipeOut 3, not as hard to read, but still just as spartan. I would have liked to seen a return to the Designers Republic look from the first two, but the game play and physics more than make up for that one dissapointment. If you are lucky enough to have a PSP right now, this is the game to get.

I think this is a very good game. The sound is good the picture are great. It is cool because it is like you are in the future. The only problem is that the game is too easy. I think it is funner than Gran Turismo and other racing games. Overall i thing the game is pretty cool. I would recomend getting this game.

This game has to be the best (if not, one of) PSP games ever. The gameplay is great, graphics are top-notch, and the best function is that you can go on the internet. Yes, you've heard me right. Internet.

Challenging gameplay, beautiful graphics and a solid musical selection in the best tradition of the WipEout series.

I've had the game for a week and i am so far not in any hurry to pick up any other game titles until i have mastered this one.

And, in agreement with other reviewers, i have to say that Zone mode is a good deal of fun and incredibly addictive.

Wipeout Pure was a launch title for the PSP, but I didn't play it until just recently. This game is really unique and really fun. Here is my review.

Graphics: 9/10. The graphics really are pretty cool. The track design is nice, the explosions from the items look really sweet, but in a way, some tracks after awhile seem to look similar.

Sound: 8.5/10. Interesting music plays when you are racing, and it's hard to desribe; it's pretty cool though. The racers sound cool, and the weapons do too.

Control: 9/10. Only the skilled can play this game. It may be simple, but you have to use L and R triggers at the right time to do the turns effectively. This game takes practice to beat track times and not hit the walls.

Fun: 8.5/10. As far as I know so far, there are only 8 tracks, and quite a few racers to pick from, but overall, this game could last awhile. There are downloadable features on Infrastructure play, but not many people play this game online. This game is definitely worth a rental, but I really don't think you should take your money out and buy it. It's an interesting game, and a fun one, but the length leaves something to be desired.

8.4/10

I'm sure most of us here had the original version for the PS1. 'Pure' lacks many things including actual control of your ship.

I've had the game for less than a week and maybe 3 playing hours and I already want to take it back. The only thing that seems to make the control better is to keep it in first-person view.

Don't run away yet and start dogging me on this. To me, it's just not living up to it's hype as "a must have".

Wipeout serious fun
