This game is great. Awesome graphics, sound, gameplay, and controls. Great options for customizing your race profile and keeping track of all your times on different tracks. Perfect for a handheld like the PSP.

i recommend this game because it has a lot of variety of cars and tracks. the wifi can get you internet and the latest downloads. its fun and never gets old but one thing is when there is a really hard racing track and you just cant beat it, it makes you frustrated you know what i mean? sometimes i play a track for an hour before i beat it. and also i dont know if something is wrong but i heard reports that their games keep freezing( it happened to mine too) so you can get it if you like i mean its really fun and some other games i recommend are twisted metal head on and nba street showdown over all its ok and worth it

This game is great! it has amzing graphics and it is my first game. 1 problem is that it can freeze while you are playing. dont worry if it happens, because it is quite normal. The music is really interesting. not good not bad but also strange. I would advise this game to a person who likes
battle-racing games. By the way, if you are getting a psp get screen protectors, a memory stick reader, and a nice case!

Awesome!

I played the first Wipeout that ever came on on the PS systems, I loved it then. I bought my PSP only about a week ago and I was surprised and excited to see Wipeout Pure, and instantly bought it without hesitation. It's pretty much the only game I play at the moment. The ability to download new tracks from online straight to the PSP is great. If you like racing games, better, futuristic racing games, this is a must buy. I only wish they'd come out with JetMoto for PSP.

I usually don't play racing games and I mostly stick exclusively to FPS games. This is my first (and as of right now my only) game for my PSP. I never owned a PS2 and never played any of the Wipeout games on it, however, when I got the PS1 in 1995, Wipeout was my first game. Coincidence? Yes! Same feeling from 1995? Absolutely! I used to play Wipeout on the PS1 for hours with my friends; that was the best way to play and it wasn't like other racing games where, if one person gets the lead, they'll own the rest of the race; in Wipeout, there is always a chance to catch up and anything can happen. Luckily, that hasn't changed for the PSP version. When I fired it up in my PSP, right off the bat I was impressed. The graphics are beautiful and colors lush. I was playing this in bed and the crazy thing is that after about a minute racing, I forgot I was holding a portable gaming system in my hands. Some games say "immersive" on the back of their box, but this game truly does immerse you. I would say after about 30 seconds of racing, you'll forget everything around you and be totally consumed. Give it a try; you'll really get into it.
Another thing I like about this game is that you don't have to rack your brain a whole lot. At the end of the day, all I want to do is relax and have fun. Happily, this game fulfills both needs and does so with style. The learning curve is not too bad, just like the original Wipeout, you'll find yourself always running into walls on turns and bumping everything, but after a good half hour or less, you'll look like a pro and it's even more fun. Once you feel confident, you can jump into multiplayer gaming against other people. If you have a wireless router connected to the internet, you can play people that way and you don't need to do a whole lot of configuration, just pick your internet connection when it asks you and then it will list available games for you to join. This game is great, but there are some downsides, for one, there aren't a whole lot of vehicles to choose from, that I know of (although, the game has a download option - not sure what kind of content you can download - when I connected, it said "coming soon"...maybe cool vehicle skins or something) and you can't really give a perfect score to something that was groundbreaking 10 years ago. The game is faithful to the original, but not groundbreaking like the original was. Overall though, if you are a Wipeout fan, you cannot go wrong with this game, it's the same of what we love and a little more. If you are new to Wipeout or are not into racing, check this game out and I bet that will all change.

Almost perfect! 9.5/10

I've played a couple of the previous versions of WipeOut and have always been impressed by this series, but the latest version for PSP is exceptional!

The handling of the car is terrific; you can use the D-pad or analog stick for subtle taps, and the shoulder triggers work airbrakes for harder, tighter steering.

The graphics look beautiful, almost jewel-like, and the selection of music works well with this face-paced game.

You know a racing game is great when you find yourself leaning your body left and right as you swoop through the curves.

The only caveat I've found is that apparently there are online downloads (extra courses, cars, etc.) available at the developer's web-site, but when I try on numerous occasions to download it times out. I suspect it's because the downloads are only available to certain countries, and my country is not one.

All in all, I rate WipeOut Pure a 9.5 out of 10. Fantastic!

Wipeout Pure........

Let's be honest here, my favorite futuristic racers has always been Extreme-G, & Jet Moto. Don't ask me why, they've just always held a closer place in my heart than other racers of this sort. Well, I decided to get Wipeout Pure because I was jonesing for a racing game(since EA hadn't put out anything recently to get me excited about) and the price was just right for me(look at the price, it's cheap). The only other Wipeout game I've ever played was Wipeout XL on the PS1 and, sad to say, it never did anything for me. Man, imagine my surprise when I boot up the game and almost, from the get-go, I'm absorbed into the game. The sense of speed is blistering. The presentation to actual gameplay and whatnot is simply astonishing. I've only got a short list of PSP games I can actually say that about. Anyhow, this game was such a blast to play that I'm seriously thinking about getting its' followup, Wipeout Pulse.

The only thing I saw at fault in the game was an inconsistant framerate, at times. Course, games of this nature have always had this problem(especially my beloved Extreme-G series). It's nothing that hampers the game, only the pickiest will find it a gripe.

Since the PSP has neither a PSP version of Extreme-G or Jet Moto(one can always wish for them, eh?); the closest thing I've got is Wipeout Pure and, believe me, I'm glad it is there.

For this to be a 2005 PSP launch title, it still holds up today. Wipeout Pure is a deep & rewarding game. Definitely a must-have for racing fans.

Totally recommended, even if you don't like racing games.

There wasn't an obvious choice for me when it came to the launch line up for the PSP. I don't like sports games, I was never a straight up racing game fan and now I know I hate card games (of any sort, even MGS rip offs). I played F-Zero for the Gamecube and found it relatively amusing so I purchased Wipeout Pure as my first PSP title to hold me over. My first impression of Wipeout Pure was "Wow! This looks beautiful!" Instead of traveling so fast you never really pay attention to others on the track, like F-Zero, Wipeout has you fighting it out neck to neck with your competitors to reach the finish line. You can either find a way to pass them, ram them out of the way or use a weapon on them. However be warned, the bots in this game are temperamental and will totally try to cut your neck (especially once you have done it to them). This added element of combat makes Wipeout that much deeper than a standard racing game.

CRAZILY FUN

This was the first of two games i got for psp. i have to say it is amazing. i never played any of the other wipeouts before but have to say this one is mind blowing!! the graphics are outstanding. The first couple of races i raced i lost because i was too busy looking at the lighting effects and scenery. This game is truly incredible and even has dowloadable content from the internet. A great game for your first middle or last psp game!!!
