Decent legendary game, but dated

Don't get me wrong, Wolfenstein 3-D is an all time classic that inspired every first person shooter ever made, and now that its on the GBA, old school gamers will finally get to enjoy the game on the go. However, while this is a nearly exact port of the PC original, that is both good and bad. First off, the frame rate is rather sluggish. When there is a lot of on screen action, the framerate becomes slow and choppy, the same problem the Super Nintendo version of the game had years ago. Second of all, Wolfenstein 3-D will go vastly unappreciated by younger gamers more used to the Quake series or Half-Life. However, there are a lot of good qualities: the Nazi schwastikas are left intact from the original (which is probably why the game is really rated mature because there isn't much blood at all), and the small amounts of blood are kept red, not a different color as in the GBA version of Doom. All in all, the GBA version of Wolfenstein 3-D isn't bad at all, but with other first person shooters for the GBA like Doom, Eecks VS Sever, and the upcoming Duke Nukem 3-D and Medal of Honor, you should hold on to your money unless you really love this game.

One of the best F.P.S. for GBA(Along with Ecks Vs. Sever)

Wolfenstein3D is, is hands down, awsome! The graphics are pixilized up close and far away, but what do you expect from a handheld virson of an early 90's fps.

There are only 4 weapons but they are awsome. It's a little gory, buts that's one of the best things about this game. All in all this game is one of the best I've played(Along with Ecks Vs. Sever). I recomend this game to older kids about 10 and up but parents probably won't let younger kids buy this because ok racial swasticas and gore.

Original as it gets

Well first of all I had to go to Electronics B. to get this game.. I just had to have it and it seems that EB has ESP because they seemed to know I had to have it too and charged 42.99 for it.. Wow for a GBA game.. Is that legal? Ok to the game.. The graphics if you ask me are exactly the same as the original.. maybe a little (little better).. hmm no background music although I can't think if the original had it or not.. As for customization ; brightness and turning speed can be controlled. Lets face it .. it seems the GBA was not cut out to do this kind of stuff although this is the best I have seen so far.. Doom in my opinion really was done horribly if I was playing that in a moving vehicle with those poor graphics and controls i would be sure to vomit. With wolf well you can't possible mess it up I mean it has what? 4 colors 5 sounds maybe .
My final thoughts of this are that if you want a 3d game like wolf doom duke.. This is the best one for the game boy by far.. Really fun to play..

True to the Original

A fun trip into the past. This is a basic shooter game, but entertaining.

Wow, this is killer...

I grew up on this game in the early 90's...I can't believe it was implemented so well on the GBA platform. Everything is just like the original, although the graphics seem a bit better (!) This is absolutely the best 1st person shooter for GBA, definitely a "must have".

A decent port

This version is almost exactly like the 10 yr old PC version except for one annoying fact: framerate...
Framerate does not kill this game but it does take out some fun from it. It runs like the Super Nes version, which means slowdown with anything over 2 enemies on the screen.
On the other hand, they fortunately decided to leave the blood and Swastikas intact, this is ironical because they changed Doom's blood to green blood, go figure....

I'd say first go for Doom, green blood and all, because it's a greater technical achievement than this. And then, if you're feeling nostalgic for wolfenstein buy it.
I certainly wouldn't recommend this for newtime gamers that haven't played the original PC version, as wolfenstein is outdated on almost every department even for a handheld.

This is it ... !

I thought that DOOM was still too ambitious for a GBA release, so when I saw WOLFENSTEIN-3D for GBA, I told myself ... THIS IS IT !
The game was almost created to be played on a handheld format. The simple graphics and gameplay of W-3D makes the GBA the perfect platform to play the game...EXCELLENT ! :-)

Old graphics, but good bargain

The new clearance price makes this classic game a must-have for the GBA enthusiast's collection. The graphics is old and the pseudo-3D sprites quite ugly, but the action is still intense. Be sure to use this on the new GPA SP because you'll need the frontlighting to see what's going on.

This game is awesome

although it is rated mature it doesn't matter. im a 13 year old. when i was like 5 my dad had the game on the computer. i thought it was sooo cool. i liked it so much i bought the wolfenstein 2 that one is awesome too. but this game is jsut like the other one and it dosn't have too bad of viollance, it is just a little blood. it could be scary for kids littler than me because u have to go up aginst a few mean looking bosses that chase you, but other than that its not scary.

Overall Good Game

This Game is a good game for adults. It is rated M for mature because of animated blood and violence. The graphics are pretty good for a handheld, but could be improved. It takes paitence to beat this game because it has a whole lot of levels. It is good for long trips. However, it does get boring if you are stuck on one level. That is why they have cheat codes!:) It also gets kind of boring because all you do is walk around and shoot. There are no missions or anything like that. All you have to do is find keys and exit through elevators. (allthough finding the elevators and keys is the hardest part of the game) You are also forced to battle bosses like creations of Hitler, killer dogs, and Hitler himself. If you like a challenging game that you can't beat in two days, buy Wolenstein 3D. I hope this reveiw was helpful to you.
