The best racer on Gamecube.

Let me start by saying that this is the best racing game on Gamecube. Much liek the original Burnout, you race through traffic at insanely high speeds. This time, getting boosts is easier, so the game is more enjoyable. If you played this game on PS2, you will know what to expect, and everything is perfectly in tact. The game is faster than Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2, but also more enjoyable.

Unlike the first game, Burnout 2 has tons of modes for you to play in. There is the crash mode, where you try and cause the most damage. There are lots more races, a better selection of cars, and the option to play as cops. The game does get hard, but not to the point of frustration. The graphics are phenomenal, without any slowdown. Crashes are once again awesome.
If you own a Gamecube, you must buy this game.

I myself played the first Burnout game and was somewhat pleased. However, it lacked gameplay modes and was quite hard to race, because the timer would run out too quickly. Burnout 2, on the other hand, takes full advantage of Gamecube and delivers the best, crisp graphics, fluid smooth speed, and is just genuine fun. There are many modes to play in, each is easy enough for the beginner, yet still challenging for the expert. Great for all ages, this racer for Gamecube is a must.

On game console, I generally like racing and mild multiplayer fighting (like Super Smash Brothers Melee). This game is great. As you may tire of hearing, the "physics" are right on -- you feel like you are really driving a car. The rumble in the controller adds some, but that could have been better. The audio is very good. When you honk your own horn, it sounds different in the open and in a tunnel. The number of tracks is great. The graphics are fast and clear.

You start out taking a driving lesson. This is a worthwhile requirement. If you read the on-screen directions, it will help you in later races.

The crash courses are great. You try to do as much damage in a single accident as possible. Kids love this and adults do, too!

Probably will not be replace by any other race software (except Burnout 3!), even Mario Kart Double Dash (which is different enough that we will probably get that, if only because we liked Mario Kart so much).

The problem I have with many games today is that it's very hard to steer your car because of the realistic physics. Here, though, steering your car is easy. Like any good game, it's a piece of cake to learn but tough (yet possible) to master. There are several different game modes. The crash mode is a golden idea, and other companies will definitely be jealous they didn't think of it first. The crashes are very realistic, although it might be better if the logs rolled off the trucks and the oil rigs exploded. The only downside is that there isn't a wide variety of tracks. Technically, there are 32 tracks, but most of them are just combinations of two tracks or a backward version of a track. I wish there were 32 DIFFERENT racetracks instead of 10 or 12 different ones and 20 other combined versions of them. Pursuit mode is real cool, too, and you can unlock over 10 different cars and 20 different tracks. If you're bored by my rambling on and just want a reccommendation, buy the game!

Man, As soon as I heard that BO2 was goin' to be realesed on the Gamecube I peed my pants! O_O :p So I bought it off the shelf and I opened the Disc case and started playing this AMAZING game, Here's the Review:

Graphics:The graphics are one of the best on the GC, The cars look cool and have that shiny look to them, The levels are so amazing you'll think it's real-life. Seriously, one of the best Graphics on a Racer. 9/10.

Sound:Good sound effects, I love hearing the Engines roar, But the music sucks...I advise you to turn it off. 7/10.

Gameplay:BEST.PART.OF.THE.GAME. Is the gameplay of course! The gameplay in this game is *B R I L L I A N T* It's so cool to unlock the custom cars and fill your boost bar, The controls are easy too, Even my 7 yr old brother can play it with ease. 10/10.

Replayability:Tons of replay values. and I mean TONS...Going through all the Championships and unlocking all the cars is one hell of a job, Oh and theres time trial too. ;) So it'll take a LONG time to finish the game. 9/10.

I've played almost all racing/driving games out there and this one takes the cake! The game is very simple, you have your choice of cars and you race, 'nough said! But unlike other racing/driving games it has several game modes including a Crash mode and a Pursuit mode.

Crash mode is probably one of the coolest parts of this game. You pick your car and you try to rack-up as much damage as you can, i.e. start one of the largest pileups as you can. The more damage you cause, the bigger the payoff. And you can play this in either single player or multi-player.

Pursuit mode is awesome! You have your get away car and of course your pursuit car. What you try to do is hit the get away car ten times to win. Easy enough right? WRONG! It is just crazy weaving through on-coming traffic trying to chase down the other car, or weaving through traffic trying to loose the pursuit car.

And the crashes are so real it makes you cringe in pain when you go head first into a semi-truck! Get this game it's well worth the $20!

I have loved this game since I played it on PS2. That said, the Cube version is even more eye popping and exciting!!!

The turbo boosts feature is awesome. To catch up with the leader you wind up in a frenzied havoc ridden charge through busy intersections and oncoming traffic. Better yet is the fact that even though you frequently travel at lightning fast speeds you miss buying the farm, by somehow managing to scrape by and swerve past other cars and obstacles within inches of your life. Until you master the controls, which are challenging but smooth and pretty easy to learn, you'll cause all types of damage both to yourself and the breath-taking surroundings. Just listen for the crunching sounds, blasting horns and scraping metal, so realistic, you would think that it was produced in hollywood.

The game excels in the area of crashing. There's minigames where the object is to cause as much monetaryu damage as possible. My kids and I played that for hours, even the youngest, or worst of drivers have an awesome time with this. Multi-player is awesome as well.

The computer controlled cars are out to get you, but in the name of keeping it real, do occassionally wipe themselves out when they're under pressure.

The game gets harder when it time to win championships, but stay the course and soon you shall soar like n eagle. Unlock hidden cars and discover more fun yet.

If you have a cube and like racing and or smash em up games, YOU MUST OWN BURNOUT II. You'll thank me.

This is the best racing game I have ever played! the graphics are cutting edge (at least for gamecube), the cars are all new, there are more events, including pursuit (where you get to be a police car), and crash (where you see how much money in damage you can rack up). This isnt one of the racing games where after a couple of hours, you have everything, this takes much longer!
Buy this game!!!

Burnout 2 is one of the best (and one of the few) racing games available on the GCN. As a pure racing game, it's good, but not great. It's certainly got nowhere near the depth and complexity of the Gran Turismo series, or even the incredible fast-paced arcade challenge of Ridge Racer.

What it does have are really cool crashes.

No, I'm not kidding. One of the most compelling features of this game is a very cool physics-based system that allows for real time deformation and destruction of all the vehicles in the game. In other words: cars go crash boom good! While this comes into play often in the racing modes (the game encourages you to partake in overly reckless driving in order to build up your turbo meter), the real gem of this title is the aptly-titled Crash Mode. This presents you with 30 extremely varied setups where you attempt to cause the maximum amount of monetary damage in a single crash. Some of them involve busy city intersections, some of them take place on winding mountain roads, and a few of them start with you going the wrong way down a busy interstate! This is best played in multiplayer, where you and up to 3 friends can compete trying to cause the most damage over a series of 3 scenarios.

Good evidence of how fun this is: my girlfriend, who normally dislikes most video games, *loves* this. So does everyone else I've showed it to. I have yet to find anyone who isn't highly entertained by causing a 10-car pileup and then watching the whole thing in slow-motion.

The game also features a full single- and multi-player racing mode, with the single-player mode unlocking various extra cars and tracks for use in the multiplayer and crash modes. It also supports Dolby Pro Logic II surround sound and Progressive Scan (480p), which makes it look and sound even better.

Drawbacks? The regular race mode could use a few more things to do -- there are regular lap races, point-to-point races, and a "pursuit" mode where you get to drive a police car and ram into a fleeing vehicle until it stops. But it's not quite as fun as it sounds, and that's about it. It would be nice if you could do things like upgrading your car, or if there were more cars (there are only about a dozen of them, and then some "upgraded" versions). Also, the crash physics are a little bit wonky at points; there have definitely been times when my car has bounced or slid off of other cars at 90+ mph instead of causing a massive collision, but the game's so fun that it really doesn't matter. Finally, while you can replay your crash, it'd be nice to have more control over the camera placement, and to be able to follow specific cars, or to run the whole thing in slow-motion, etc. The game does a decent job of automatically showing you the action, but when this is such a hugely entertaining feature, it would be nice to be able to be able to tweak it.

Highly recommended for racing fans and anyone looking for a fun diverson, Burnout 2 is a very entertaining game, especially if you can find it cheap.

Like most I loved the first burnout, but had several problems, the biggest being it was just too short. Burnout2 is a completely different story, oncoming traffic is slightly easier to weave thru, the timer does not seem to run 50 feet b4 the next check point, and all the extra modes, tracks, and cars are amazing! The crash mini game is perfect for groups and/or people who have trouble driving or not big racer fans. Burnout2 is by far one of the best games yet produced for the gamecube.
