Excellent representation of Star Wars but repetitive

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 2 / 2

Battlefront 2 PC takes Battlefront to a whole new level. The single-player campaign involves specific objectives and not just acquiring checkpoints and wiping out the enemy as in BF. Using the Jedi and playing the space battles are as entertaining as they sound.

But the game lacks differentiation in the galactic conquest battles. I often found it more of a chore than good ol' fun to do the usual dogfighting and destroying enemy frigates and ships in the space battles. The ground battles were the most fun but were equally repetitive in terms of acquiring checkpoints. What could've been done is to implement the objective-based tasks into the galactic conquest and not just the single-player mission.

I played about an hour online. The multi-player is fun but nothing worth forgetting to go to sleep at night.

I give the game a very good 87%, well worth the purchase. Will play it a second time through soon.

Pros Outweigh the Cons

Well I've had this game for 1 1/2 years now, and it still works just fine!, game play wise, story mode is awesome. space battles are a bit iffy, but it is still very satisfying demolishing TIE fighters over and over again. it is missing many very good maps from the 1st installment of the series, like Geonosis: Spire and the Rhen Var maps. jedi action is awesome too. Overall, great game! I highly Recommend it!

Not bad!

I'm not exactly a fanatical gamer, but I am a Star Wars fan. This game gets it right when it comes to the look and feel of the Star Wars universe. The graphics and sound are great, and the missions are challenging without being impossible. And, hey, every now and then it's just fun to blow things up!

Good but Too much like original

The Game itself was okay with added space combat it really adds something new and the maps from the Episode III Movie is also nice, but the bottom line is this is a clone of the first in too many areas. I was hoping you could fly from space to planets surface with more freedom. If you never owned the original you will be amazed at the gameplay, everyone else will look at it as an expansion.

Over-hyped

If you like console games (arcady feel, poor AI but with the flashy Star Wars characters and laser sounds) then you'll probably like this game. If not, and you are looking for a quality shooter (ala Battlefield2) this game just doesn't do it. I feel like these other reviews duped me into purchasing this one and will stick to PC Gamer magazine reviews for now on. For more mature, hard core PC Gamers I would recommend you stay aware from this one.

Even Better than it's Predecessor!

What a cool game!
Pros:
The Graphics are a ton better
You can fight iin space
There are battles from the third film
Once you get so many kills on Instant Action you can become a Commander like a Clone with a Gatlin Gun type thing, or a Droid with a Semi-automatic Missile pistol and when you get more kills you can become a Jedi like Mace Windu, Luke, Anikan, Darth Vader, The guy with the elongated head, that kick ass droid thing from the third Movie with the weed-wacker sabers
Cons:
The layout of the main menu doesn't seem as good as the first

The game is fun to play but beware of the disk protection. Securom gave me a very difficult install process.

Fun, But Not Worth The Money

Let me start by saying that this game was pretty fun to play and very enjoyable, but it's kind of a ripoff.
First, if you enjoy doing space battles (on ships), you will be dissappointed, because almost all of them are exactly the same; take out the shield, blow up the ship, kill a few fighters. And the main ships are almost always in the exact same spot.
Second, the game is kind of incomplete. I was so dissappointed after winning the battle on Hoth and seeing the credits start rolling. You see that the second death star is being built, and the game is over! I was able to beat it in 3 days! It's like they're trying to rip the customers off by making one game and splitting it into 3, so the company can make almost 3 times as much money.
So basically, I would just reccomend renting this game, not buying it, at least not until the price goes down a lot.

Entertaining first person shooter

SWB2 is an entertaining first person shooter rich in Star Wars lore. The game is modeled as an online game, with "monster generators" pouring out good guys and bad guys on both sides in the single player version. The pace is very fast (if you want to win). Each map (mission) is highly scripted into multiple objectives, and you don't know how many objectives in advance, which only heightens the frustration when you complete four out of five (?) objectives. Normally one would simply change the dificulty level to get past problem missions, but only normal and dificult settings are available.
No cheat codes are available at this time.

One Of My Favorites

this is a very good. there arent alot of problems either. the worst part is all the objctives are very similar. you always have to blow stuff up and capture comand posts. but who ever said blowing stuff up isnt fun. this one is also more realistic than the battlefront 1 (as realistic as star wars can get). your guns will overheat so use automatic weapons cautiously. there are some unrealistic things. it takes two sniper shots to kill some one. (wookies sometimes take three) also, as when you start to shoot your gun, its on target but after about two secounds your bullets hit every thing but the target.

you should get this game over other war games for the two player. most other (and more realistic) games are only one player. this one has a very good two player. the rise of the empire mode is also very fun.

so if your looking for a realistic war game go play call of duty or battlefield. if you want to play a war game against your friends then you should definetly get it.
