It's a Golden Sun with Super Mario Sunshine

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 4 / 4

It is a Golden Sun with Super Mario Sunshine and there are
many good reasons for one of the best Mario games since Super
Mario 64. I must say that I may have enjoyed Super Mario 64
more, but with this game I had very few complaints...one of
them being that there were many glitches in the game and the
game could have used a little more polish, but these thoughts
didn't occur to me that often... I was too busy having fun! The
graphics are awesome. Although many people rate graphics according to how realistic they are, these look about 97% of what they are intended to look like. Although this game is very different, it has the Mario quality that makes everyone like this
fellow. it has a classic senerio...peach gets kidnapped and you have to rescue her from Bowser, by completing obsticals and collecting coins. The new addition that seems un-Mario is the water pack, but opens up dozens of new obstacles that seem very Mario-like. This isn't the best game compared to The Legend Of Zelda or Metroid for the NES but insures that the Mario franchise will live on.

Makes for Hours of Fun

I just bought Super Mario Sunshine a few days ago and couldn't wait to get started. The controls take a little bit of getting used to, but once you figure out where to go, you're stuck with it.
The graphics are splendid, with very realistic water, textures that still bear the good old Mario touch, and very vibrant colors. The sound effects are also nice to hear, though some can be fairly repetitive.
I would caution people not to start playing too late at night, because you'll be up until the early morning playing this very fun game!

Ummmm... so so, i guess

Super Mario Sunshine is a unique way to fight against bowser again. Mario is falsly accused of painting a small vacation island with dirty goo. He has been sentenced to clean it all up with a neat little talking water gun... thingy. Peach was threatened by a figure that looks exactly like mario, but has other intentions. It's up to Mario and his water gun... thingy to save the island.
This game had some serious upsides, but also a couple of downsides. A good thing was color of the game. It was bright and somewhat detailed compared to other games i've played. Another upside is that beating the game does not have to go one way. There are over 40 different missions to beat the game, you only need about 30 of them to win. Another upside is the game is less "violent" (for parents who want to minimize any violence) than other mario's. Rather than punching or kicking the whole way through the game, most of the combat is done with the talking water bottle, it also adds a unique battle system with interesting upgrades.

Now, a couple of not-so-good things. The game was fun and all, but the missions and objectives were basically the same thing over and over again, just with different dudes to get in your way. Another bad thing was the memorization of keys that needed to be done. There were times in the game where i was required to push about 15 different buttons at specific times. (very hard and frusterating for childeren under 10)

To wrap everything up, I recommend this game for boys and girls from the ages of 10-13. (warning: 13 year olds might tire of it faster than others.) The story line is about a 7 on a scale of 1-10 along with graphics. The game lacks a little variety but other than that is a good game. For the prices i've seen, it's a good buy.

Very summery game

SMS is definitely a gorgeous game to look at and a perfect game to get you in a summertime mood. The perfect blue skies, glorious sunshine and beautiful water effects make you just want to pass through the screen and into the Isle of Delfino in the game itself. Mario vacations in this sunny resort only to find it's covered in pollution when he arrives. So now it's up to him to clean it up across the various levels and worlds.

It's one of those games that you can just keep on playing over the years and even put aside for a while before going back to it. It doesn't really have the same charm in the winter months however. The music, the graphics, the humor are all cute and colorful. It makes for perfect escapism.

However, the designers have simply tried to cram in too many controls on the Gamecube pad and, as a result, it's a very hard game to control. Many levels and missions require precision manoeuvring and can often take several minutes of painstaking balance and ascension only for it all to be undone, as Mario plummets several hundred feet, by a tiny little flaw in your button-bashing. It will seriously drive you C-R-A-Z-Y.

Had it not been for this, I would probably have stuck with SMS to the end, but I had to just be done with it once and for all, otherwise I would have chucked my Gamecube at the wall.

Mario Sunshine...In my Gamecube...Makes my happy

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 13 / 27

Super Mario Sunshine's story is kind of short, but will be a hit. The story is, if you don't know, Mario and Peach were going on vacation to the beach when somebody disguised as Mario graffittitized the walls. Mario has to take off the graffitti of the walls. The game, in my opinion, will PROBABLY be short by the looks of it. I hope the "mature" gamers don't think it's too kiddish for them and pass out on it. If they do, let us have the fun! The characters look colorful, and, sorry for bringing this up Mario, but, he looks chubbier in here. So what? Will we pass up a great game because of Mario's look? NO! Anyway, the is back, and packed, with a water shooter to take off the graffiti from the walls...I believe the bad one here is Wario. I doubt Bowser can be the one...Can he?

The Mega Review for Super Mario Sunshine

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 7 / 11

Super Mario Sunshine is the most recent NEW Mario video game from Nintendo, and it is not as easy as it looks. The game is similar to Super Mario 64, and many tasks should be familiar if you've played that game before. However, there are many differences that sepperate it from the 1996 classic, Super Mario 64.

I will now list everything about the game outside of what I just said:
________________________________________
________________________________________

In this game, Mario explores a tropical island trying to fight off many enemies and find his way through obstacles using a water pump called Fludd. You try to find the shine sprites hidden within each level to strengthen the sunshine of the shine gate. At the start of the game, only the center of Delfino Plaza is covered in light, but with all the shine sprites, the sunshine is everywhere on the island.

Like Super Mario 64, Mario must collect 120 shiny stary things (Stars in SM64, and shine sprites in Super Mario Sunshine) before the game is completed. And like Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine forces you to jump into paint and enter different levels with certain tasks.

However, Super Mario 64 does not include Fludd, and Mario must defeat his enemies by punching and kicking them. Plus, there is definately a bigger "Mario feel" in Super Mario 64, as you open blocks and fight off classic Mario enemies instead of running aronud a tropical island, trying to clean up pollution all over the island.

Good Stuff About This Game:

- The graphics are simply amazing in this game. The color is very precise, and it's very easy to tell the emotion of the characters in the game. The shapes of objects in the game are accurate and realistic, and the effects and sound aren't terrible, either.
- Cruising through levels is exciting, as you never know what goodies or baddies await you. It's super fun to ride bloopers, as it is to blast away on water with one of Fludd's nossels.
- The controls in the game are excellent and even better than as in Super Mario 64. Mario's agility is great, and maneuvering him around the levels is relatively easy.
- Early in the game, it's quite fun to play, since the story is more intense and the levels' tasks are usually fun to play. Unfortunately, this won't last long.

Bad Stuff About This Game:

- The gameplay of this game is rather cheesy. So, Mario goes on a vacation and flies to a once sunny island that was polluted by graffiti by someone in a suit that looks like Mario, and the police of the island arrest Mario because they thought it was his fault, so he needs to clean up the island with a pump that shoots water and retrieve shine sprites to make the island sunny again. Pretty unusual compared to other games. Super Mario 64's objective was sort of weird, as the characters were trapped inside castle walls and Mario must jump into paintings to find the stars to restore the castle's power, but it doesn't come close to Super Mario Sunshine.
- Many of the classic Mario enemies from the past games have been replaced with new ones such as the goomba and pokey. It would sure feel better to just have the popular enemies in the game instead of ones that act the same but look different. The only classic Mario enemy to return is the pirahna plant.
- Compared to Super Mario 64, this game is far from humorous. Almost everything in Super Mario 64 was ridiculously funny, but for some reason, all the humor from Super Mario 64 was removed. For example, when Mario died from running out of air in Super Mario 64, he covered his mouth gulping up water. In Super Mario Sunshine, he just rolls over, dead, without even doing anything else. Overall, I think Super Mario 64 is humorous, but Super Mario Sunshine is just more annoying.
- By the time you make it to Noki Bay, it's likely you'll end up stuck, since the Manta Storm level in Sirena Beach, the previous level, must be completed before any other tasks can, and that task is extremely difficult for how early the game is. I just don't get the second task on Noki Bay, and haven't gotten any farther. I've played this game over and over again, and always stopped playing my game once I got to Sirena Beach or Noki Bay, and never beat the Manta Storm. Do not buy this game without buying an instruction guide for it first.

Top 3 Most Fun Tasks:

1. Blooper Surfing Safari-Ricco Harbor
2. The Secret Of Ricco Tower-Ricco Harbor
3. Gooper Blooper Returns-Ricco Harbot

(Ha, ha, ha! All three of the most fun tasks are from Ricco Harbor, explaining that that's the best level in the game!)

Top 3 Most Boring Tasks:

1. The Runaway Ferris Wheel-Pina Park
2. The Eight Red Coins Task In Bianco Hills
3. The Manta Storm-Sirena Beach

Worst. Game. Ever.

Folks, if you're looking for an entertaining Mario game with tight controls and an excellent camera to follow the action, this is not it. This game will frustrate you to the point where you are breaking controllers and making your pets run for cover.

The direction is poor, the story is lame, the control is horrible and the camera....OH THE CAMERA!!! It gets stuck behind walls, pipes, boats or whatever other obstacle you are trying to navigate. It makes an otherwise passable game completely unplayable. I usually never put down a game until I have conquered it's every secret. Not this game. I even came back a couple of times to see if I could regain my patience with it. Nope. Not worth your time. Run from this game. Run, I say.

Let us all hope that Nintendo delivers us a game that delivers on the previous standard of excellence that came with the name Mario on it. Then, maybe, I can get the taste of this one out of my mouth.

Great - if you don't have any younger siblings,

Super Mario Sunshine is a fantastic. In fact, it's so fantastic, it ends up being horrible. That is, if you have any younger siblings. If you buy it they will play it so much, you will not have any tme to play. Take my advice.

This is the best mario game i have ever played, i bought my game cume 3 weeks ago with mario sunshine and i havent stòp playing for days, its a very challenging story for all ages and graphics are awesome. Its simply the best game you will find on game cube while zelda is released (february), so while you wait you'll have a great time with super mario sunshine (the story is long so dont worry about finishing in 5 or 7 hours of play). If you are thinking of buying a game go with mario, you cant go wrong.

... Anyway, as far as the game goes, I'm a 23 year old gamer and I have NEVER come across a game so difficult. I love Nintendo. I love Mario games. But this game ... I realize games need to be challenging but this is so challenging, it [takes] the fun right out of it. Play this game, and I guarantee that you'll break at least one of your controllers in frustration.
