DOA Xtreme Beach Fanservice...er Volleyball

If you can past the fact that this game is a giant collection of guilt inducing fanservice, than it isn't too bad. It's not perfect, but is fairly a decent game nonetheless.

Graphics
Very sharp and clean. All the environments are well detailed and the Girls are as well. They stay clean even when watching cutscenes and playing volleyball. Sand is even is shuffled and moved when you play.

Sound
There are songs already on the soundtrack that you'll either love or hate, but it's nice that you can make custom soundtracks by loading music from the hard drive. Sound effects and voices are there, but the characters speak only in Japanese. This may annoy some, but there are subtitles. However, they don't show during the volleyball games, so unless you're a Japanese language guru, you'll have no clue what they are saying.

GamePlay
This is very simple. There are basically just two games, the pool hopping event, that just uses one button. Then there is the volleyball game itself. Controls are easy to use and responsive. Playing volleyball takes a bit of getting used to, but isn't too hard. In fact, you only have to play it once if you want. Since you can get through a vacation without even playing any games. There are MANY items to collect and get, which will require some work. Especially if you want to get the more revealing swimsuits, but it can get boring quickly for some. The game plays the same regardless of what girl you pick to use.

OVERALL

It may not appeal to some, but it still can provide some amusement. It's really up to the player if they want to spend lots of time to aquire most of what the game has, and if your looking for something deep or very engaging, then you'll probably want to look at something else. But if you need a quick game (or a little fanservice), than this should appeal to you.

Liked it!

This game is suppose to be all eyecandy, but even as a girl I found the game fun and cute.
Basically what you do is play volleyball, collect swimsuits and try give them to another girl.
I thought collecting swimsuits was fun, a lot of swimsuits are really cute and some very beautiful (especially Mint Frappe).
I usually don't like string, but the swimsuits with them had nice colors and looked really good, so I even collected them.
Some swimsuits are really cheap while some can be a bit expensive, there are also other things like nailpolish, food and stuff you can give the other girls. I've spend about 30+ hours on this game.

A great ride, but not for everyone.

I am not sure what I was expecting when I popped this game into my X-Box. Sure, I love DOA, and sure, I love volleyball, but would the two worlds be able to coexist?
The answer is a resounding yes. The volleyball is exciting, fun to play, and really shines when playing against a friend. The non-volleyball aspects of the game did not interest me at first, but soon I found my self playing the zach island mode more than the exibition mode. The casino is as good as the casino in most low-priced PC casino games, and I particularly like Blackjack. For some reason, they don't have much going on in the casino. I was hoping to see the other girls in evening wear, and Zach being the dealer, but it really is a no-frills casino.
However, the money you win in this casino game can be put to use. So much stuff to buy and collect, I almost went into Pokemon mode (and no one wants that). Wheter you admit it or not, you will keep playing to get that next great bathing suit for your girls of choice.
The pillow hopping mini-game is moderatley fun, and teaches you to use your analog button pressing skills, which are neccessary for volleyball.
Altogether, not a deep game, but one with enough replay value to keep you coming back. Enjoy!

Visuals are amazing - gameplay is OK including the sim segment. About two days worth of game play. I suggest a rental.

Part Ren'ai, Part Volleyball

I think the name misleads everybody. It's not Xtreme in anyway at all. It would have been cool if you could control the characters like in DOA3, but alas, Tecmo took a different turn with this game.

Instead, the game plays more like a roundabout ren'ai game. You spend a lot of time playing volleyball to earn money so you can buy stuff, and you can buy gifts for your potential partners. If they accept the gifts, they will play a bit better and thus earn you more money from the score ratio when you win games. The more money you have, the more you can buy for your partner. Fourteen days doesn't seem to be enough time to gather enough money sometimes, but once you complete it, you can start over again with the same amount of money you finished with, as well as all the suits and accessories you bought with that character.

I really liked this game. It went at a comfortable pace (except when you're playing volleyball), and the hopping game was amusing for a few times. The only annoyance is the fact that the FMVs aren't subtitled, and you can't override the default music for them. I highly recommend listening to TUBE's "TUBEst II" CD with this game, whose natsuyatsumi (summer vacation) J-Pop style really fits with the overall Japanese feel of this game. If you've played a lot of Japanese style games and like the genre, you'll most likely enjoy this one. Granted, it's not for everybody, but some non-Japanphiles might like this one.

I picked this game up last Saturday and didn't put it down until late Sunday. The graphics are incredible. The girls are just perfect. The gameplay seems simple, and yes, you only use two buttons. But you can also use the right thumbstick to set the positions (move your parter closer to the net, further away, left, right, etc.). All in all, this is a great game that is even greater multi-player. A ton of fun.

This game is great. It has provided me with hours and hours of fun.(wink, wink) I never thought it would be any good but it ended up surprising me. I thought it was going to be like BMX XXX, a terrible game but a lot of hot chicks. Its a simple game, the controls are made for a complete moron, but the novelty of this game makes it a ton of fun. I suggest renting it or trying at a friends house before you buy it because there are a lot of mixed opinions about this game.

This game was kool, and not just because the eye candy either. It's easy to learn and addicting. The ONLY thing wrong with it is the packaging. Why is it rated M? I haven't seen any nudity. It should be rated T, maybe even E-A.

This game, if you really want to call it that, is really quite bad. When I think of a good volleyball game I think of "Kings Of The Beach" for NES. It's really quite sad that a game from 20 years ago on a 8 bit system blows away this 128 bit pile. The game play is so inconsistent you'll be lucky if you can even serve the ball over the net let alone spike the ball without it hitting the net. If you have to dive for the ball chances are that you'll still be getting up when it's hit back to you, and trying to get your partner to actually show some teamwork with you is nearly impossible. The scoring is not done right and you don't really have time to form relationships with your partner to get them to work better with you. I actually had the most fun playing the "Hopping" mini game, not because it was so fun, but more because I could actually win while playing. I also thought the casino part sucked but I don't really like gambling anyway. On the plus side the girls are hot and seeing them in different swim suits is nice, but really I was looking for a "Volleyball" game, so I guess I'll just stick with my "Outlaw Volleyball" (which is a good game but still flawed), and bust out the NES to play "Kings Of The Beach" when I want to play a really good V-ball game.
