Best Models Ever, Chicks and Bikinis Rule!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 6 / 9

This is a superb sports fantasy lifestyle game. According to the lead designer, that's exactly what its suppose to be. Not a gambling game or a shopping game -lifestyle. Who would actually be looking for a "hard-core volleyball game?" Probably people who bought Simpson's Road Rage and complained it's not a hard-core racing sim. Even though volleyball playing is both fun and serious. Always set your gal-pal up for a spike if possible! Graphics are the best in any video game- perfect skin tones, tans, multiple views when your bikini babe poses, no pixalation at full zone. It's incredibly fun to dress up the babes in numerous accessories and watch her play volleyball in them. Then change the outfits- NEVER gets boring. Of course the predictable femi-nazis cry out "how dare you like girls in bikinis". They find it easier to sit on the couch with a box of hoho's and a remote control, and tell you what to like, than it is to become close to how fantastic these girls look in a bikini. When the virtual-reality girlfriend arrives (The 6th Day-style), Hitome (which I pronounce "Hit-on-me") and new model Lisa will be featured prominently. Watching "Hit-on-me" hop across the pool, relax, or dance around the fireplace on the beach at night in a sexy bikini will change your whole outlook on life. Ignore the angry PC-police and get this great game now!

Isn't about Volleyball, But still good

The huge fuss has been created over the Dead Or Alive X-Treme Beach Volleyball
(DOAX) back in 2001. Back then Tecmo promised to create a game that nobody had
done before them. Tecmo wanted to include at times practically naked girls of their
best selling series of fighting games: Dead Or Alive. Initially numerous rumors
surrounded the title about just how far the game maker is going to take their game
that quickly became one of the most controversial games since Mortal Kombat and
Doom.
The release of the game in January of 2003 showed that a lot of the fuss was really
just based on rumors and speculations. The game doesn't feature and extremely
controversial material, significant nudity or violence. The game really is what name
suggests, - girls in bikinis playing volleyball to earn money that they can spend on
accessories, swimsuits or try their luck at the casino. Game does feature some
suggestive material that may not be suitable for early teenagers and is rated "M" for
mature (17+). It's is unknown why many extremists think this game should not be on
the market simply because of the suggestive themes. Thousands of movies are rated
"R" (17+) that feature full nudity and softcore sexual themes, - something this game
doesn't have.
The graphics in DOAX are simply breath taking, as it will be hard to find a game with
more beautiful environments and extremely detailed characters. But the game lacks
in value. To put it simple - there aren't enough stuff in the game to spend around half
a hundred bucks on it. Game features eight different characters (all girls... hmm...)
that team up in pairs to play volleyball on Zack's island. There is a certain light
element of "Sims" built into the game, as all characters have their own preferences.
Teaming up with someone can be quite an effort, but to keep them happy, can be
even harder. Most of the items in the game can be given as gifts to other character,
so practically any item or outfit that one girl has, can be transferred to another.
Transferring expensive outfits will require quite a sweat, as a partner must be
extremely happy to accept skimpy expensive outfits. Volleyball however is simplified
to a core (as for controls). There are two buttons to be used, plus two analog sticks.
It's easy to get into the game but not so easy to master it right off the bet though.
Tecmo promised many things in this game like swimsuit competition and lifeguard
drills, as well as many other features but did not deliver. Was game rushed? Most
likely. The game is a simple eye pleaser that doesn't deliver much outside of it. It is a
nice game to have for those who are interested in volleyball, follow DOA series, want
an easy to follow relaxing game or enjoy half naked computer generated girls. But as
for others, it's not worth getting until the price drops at least half of what it cost
when it came out.

P.S. One thing to keep in mind, this game isn't about volleyball really, but about half naked computer generated women.
Anyone who gave it 5 stars based because he/she thinks that it is a good volleyball game is only cheating himself.
Would any of them buy this sort of game if it was all MALE characters from DOA3?
I thought so.

Not really worth renting, much less buying

This game is only for hormone-raging 13 year old kids who can't get their hands on actuall pornography so its aimed towards their hormones. The game is actually not a good game. If one of your "not-as-smart" friends has the game you might want to try it, but its not worth the money nor time to rent or buy. The ONLY other reason to buy this game is IF you are a DIE HARD Dead or Alive "collectors" fan.

just fun

I admit I first came in to play this game hoping to see a little something and have decent gameplay but....after bout 1 hour of playing with it I was wanting to play it more for the fun of it.
Let me start off the graphics crisp and that's not on a HDTV which it supports. The fact that you can play your own music (a feature more xbox games should have) was sweet. The control scheme is so easy yet I've got about 12 hours on the game I still find myself being challenged by the game but not just by the volleyball part but the gift givivng.
Now the volleyball part can be boring after a awhile you find so many other things to do for time being.I really hated the gift giving part but after awhile I found it to be very creative feature.
All in all and the fact you can gamble, honestly who can pass up a game like this.

Surprising result

My first exposure to this game was as a rental. I'm not a big sports game guy. I played it some, got good enough at the volley ball to make lots of Zack Dollars. Enjoyed the realistic "Physics Engine," got bored with it and that would have been the end of it. My wife though couldn't get enough. She said it was like playing with barbi dolls and enjoyed buying suits and trying them on the different characters. I was forced to buy her a copy of the game so she could play it for hours on end, getting new suits for different characters and giving suits to characetrs as gifts so she could see how that character looked in a suit she couldn't buy. It was really sort of sureal. I guess the story here is that women shouldn't write this game off. they may actually enjoy it more then the men who are supposed to be buying it.

Surprisingly Addictive...

I bought DOA: Xtreme Beach Volleyball a while back because I found the idea of characters from a fighting game playing volleyball to be wonderfully funny.
Given some of the comments about it that I read, not to mention the adult-oriented nature of some elements of the game, I was not expecting very much from it.
You can imagine my surprise, then, as this game quickly became one of my favorites out of any game I've played on any of the current systems.
The control of the volleball matches is relatively simplistic, though there is somewhat of a challenge to where it is still fun to play.
The minigames (casino, hopping game) are also very entertaining.
For those of you who buy games for "hot" pixelated women, this game is filled to the brim.
This strikes me as a game which could work well in a small party environment.
If you like fun, reasonably simplistic gameplay, then I definitely recommend this game for you.
If you are looking for something complex, might I suggest playing the latest Tom Clancy game, or something of that nature.

A REVIEW FROM SOMEONE WHO OWNS THE GAME..ME

this is a great game. The graphics are outstanding, and the volley ball action is pretty cool. Let me tell you what you can do in the game.
During the day:
challenge different teams of girls to a volleyball match, but if u do not have a partner u can look for one.
you can go to a beach where no other girl is at, and there, they will show a brief cutscene of what ur girl does there. She could be swinging on a swing, or walking in the sand, (u can zoom in on all the action...oooo laaa laaa)
u can go to the sports shop to buy different swimsuits
u can go to the accessory shop to buy random objects
u can go a tradde store where they sell different objects, sometimes there are weopons, like a knife and sub machine gun. i dont know if u can use these or not.
u can go to the radio station, and there select what tracks u want to be playing during the whole time u are actually playing the game. The game has there own sountrack, but i made my own and have that playing instead of the games.
you can go to the pool, there u can rest, which shows a very very very nice scene of what ur girl does. Also there is a hopping game where u can earn money.

During the night:
every night ur friend zack brings u an item, it could be some retarded thing or mabye a good swimsuite :). You can either go to bed, or go to the casino. in the casino, you can play: BlackJack,Roullette, Poker, and use the slot machines. There are 8 different slot machines.

How the game works:
There are 3 different serves, the jumping serve, the underhand, and the regular.
You are able to block spikes from the other team
In order to hit the ball harder, u hit the A button with more force, but if u want it softer, u tap the A button softer. Thats how the power guage works, u can ajust the power and stuff in the game.
2v2 volleyball action, the action is quite good, u control 1 player and the computer controls the other. U might not think so at first, but u easily get used to the views and how the game works.
8 different girls to choose from.
over like 100 different swim suites to buy

Will you like it?
i cant say if u will like it, but let me tell u that this is a fun game. If u like volleyball games than this will be your favorite.it has more than just volleyball: a casino, and item shops and custum soundtracks. the graphics are amazing, and very realistic. It will entertain you for hours.

if u r not sure, then rent it, but it is fun. i hope this has been helpful to you.

More addictive than heroin . . . and safer

The game takes place on Zack Island, a remote volcano bought by a character from Dead or Alive 2 & 3 (and maybe 1). On Zack Island, you can play volleyball (duh!), shop for swimsuits, accessories, and other junk; and you can play at the casino at night. Oh yeah, and you can also hop on floating devices at the pool but you can't swim in the pool. You can swim in the ocean (sometimes) but not in the pool . . . and you have no control over how you swim in the ocean.

You earn money for shopping be either playing volleyball, jumping at the pool, or gambling. It's also a good idea to send gifts so you can get swimsuits from other characters that may not be available to your own. Some characters may not respond well, which can sometimes be very frustraiting. Tina is especially stubborn if you're not playing as Lisa.

Personally, I think the casino was a bad idea. Tecmo should have put an arcade in instead where you can play classic Tecmo games like Ninja Gaiden and . . . uh . . . whatever else Tecmo did back in the 8- and 16-bit days. If you prefer casino games like poker, roulette, blackjack, and slots, though, you'll be happier with this part of the game than myself.

The controls are tight. The characters respond well to even the slightest presses in either analog or digital mode. This is in reference to the trigger buttons as there is no analog sensetivity for the control stick or cross-pad.

Overall, I have to say this is the best volleyball game I ever played. Each character has her own personality, the controls are outstanding once you get used to them (GameFaqs.com has guides incase you don't get an instructions manual), and you can add your own music tracks to the game via the X-Box hard drive -- a nice touch if you don't like reggae.
Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball is a great game even if you don't like the Dead or Alive fighting division of the series.

For anyone who is confused by the M rating and the nudity label, let me explain: If you watch the opening video (the one that starts right after the X-Box display screen when you turn the machine on, before you go to Zack Island), you may notice a questionable piece featuring Christie. Even though it's hard to see Christie...through the shadows, she is obviously naked. That, my friends, is nudity. Whether Helena in her robe is also questionable depends on who you ask.
Also, apparently you can make the girls topless if you complete a vacation within 13 minutes. Even skipping all the volleyball, this is easier said than done. It's very taxing on the nerves and can make you feel bitter. I don't recommend trying this. I'm not even sure it works. Just don't try it.
Another piece that may have earned the game an M-rating is also in the opening video. It has a playful part with Lei Fang and Hitomi that could be considered homosexual. The very idea that sexual preference could effect a video game's is inappropriate, but apparently existent.

So how does this title compare to Beach Spikers, Outlaw Volleyball, and Summer Heat? I thought Summer Heat was worthless and I hated Outlaw Volleyball, so I won't waste your time with those - not that you couldn't just stop reading this. Where-as SEGA's Beach Spikers is more pick-up-and-play, DOAXBVb has a higher learning curve. There are no player-indicators when you play volleyball, so it's not as easy to catch as in Beach Spikers. Also, the camera in DOAXBVb is somewhat fixed to the side of the net, where-as the view in BS flies around to whatever the game thinks best suits the player (and usually does a damn good job). In the end though, I think DOAXVB gets the better score because of all the extra features. Would this game even be comparible to Beach Spikers without the over-100 swimsuits and accessories? Absolutely not, but that's probably why it has them. Also, DOAXVB does not have an excruciatingly annoying announcer and you can turn the character voices off without sacrificing the sound effects.

The funny part . . .

What's funny about this game is that once the novelty of good looking girls jumping up and down in bikinis wears off, you are left with a rather bland volleyball game. Of course, the novelty of looking at girls jumping up and down in bikinis may never wear off . . .

Ridiculous.

As soon as I saw this, I began laughing.

I have played and own Dead or Alive 3 (x-box), which, in my opinion is a good game. It's somewhat short, but the graphics (environments, specifically) are great. Now, I'm a woman, thus the "cute girls" in this game don't really do anything for me. DOA 3 is good, but this is completely ridiculous.

The calendar that goes along with the game is also utterly ridiculous. But funny.

You guys need to get a girlfriend.
