Still one of the best xbox games

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 1 / 1

Even though this game is a little old and I've bought other newer titles, this still remains one of my favorite games for my xbox.

The graphics on this one aren't the best, but are about average compared to others. If you look closely at Indy's face, he looks very cartoon-like as opposed to some higher level of detail found in games like Splinter Cell. The sound quality, like the graphics, aren't impressive, but don't sound generic like other games tend to.

It only takes a few short minutes to really get the hang of the controls and gameplay. Once mastered, you'll love how easy it is to whip out a gun or drink from your canteen to regain health.

Probably the game's low point is the fighting controls used against enemies. After a while, you find yourself beating up all enemies in generally the same way. Seeing as how fighting only has two buttons and pretty much no "special moves" there isn't a lot to do. But to save time, it's quicker to just shoot them.

But on the flip side, the high point of the game is the overall fun you'll have. The game is complicated enough to make it a challenge, but yet not too hard to make it frustrating. It's rare that you'll become completely stuck that you need to consult online help. The game will provide hours of non-stop fun.

Bottom line, dispite the newer games that have come out and all the games in my collection, Indiana Jones is the one I wind up playing time and time again.

let's kick some Nazi butt!

This is the best Indiana Jones game by far! The Infernal Machine sucked! I'm a fan of the movies and loved this game!
It's so fun to beat up Nazis, Chinese guards, Gestapo, the Black Dragon Triad, and much more!

It took me two years to beat this game and when i finally finished it, I didn't want it to be over!
You start out searching for the Idol of Kouru-Whatu, a mythical artifact located deep inside the caverens of Ceylon ( Sri-lanka). You get lots of time to get aquinted with the easy controls, and still get to kick some mercenary ass.
After that, you return to Barlem College where he is met by two people from china.
Marshall Kai, and his assistant Mei Ying, who of course becomes Indy's girlfriend.

This game is set in 1935 before the Temple of Doom. Anyway, you get hired to find a chinese artifact that was buried with the first emperor of China, Ch'in Shi'huang Ti. You go to Prague castle to search for the second part of the Mirror of Dreams, an object that can show you the hidden booby traps in the tomb.
It turns out that MarshaLL Kai is actually the leader of the Black Dragon Triad and had formed an alliance with the Nazis to recover the Heart of the Dragon. This leads to trouble and at the end you get to kill Kai with a sharp blade. All through Prague you'll be pitted against the merciless Gestapo.

Indy gets captured at prague and taken to istanbul for interogation. you break out of your cell and recover the third part of the mirror. Don't worry, the levels are easy to figure out complete with turkish/iraquis gaurds.

After that, Mei Ying invites indy to the Golden Lotus opera house in Hong Kong. Unfortuneatly, Marshall Kain interupts their quiet dinner and captures miss ying. You fight off fifty triad members and waiters before finding your way outside just as Mei is driven away in a car, tied up. You hitch a ride with Wu Han and engage in an intence shootout against cars and motorcycles pursuing you with machine guns. You end up at the docks just as mei ying and your nazi nemisis Von Beck sail away on a submarine.

you end up going to peng lai island, where kai's castle and a nazi base is located. you find a change of clothes and only keep your identity hidden for about two levels.

you get to kai's fortress and fight your way into the fortress. this is when you begin to fight zombies and other supernatural beings.

you get to the emperor's tomb and find the heart. bla bla bla........you win, after you kill of Marshall Kai. As for von beck, he falls into a bottomless pit a few levels earlier.

buy this game!

Don't waste your hard earned $$

Although I am a huge Indy fan of the movies and of the Infernal Machine game, this game is terrible!!!. The only good thing I have to say about this game is the graphics are great, nice textures, great 3D graphics, and nice intriguing environments from what little I saw. Honestly, I quit this game after the third level because I had to play them over and over so many times. NOTE: THERE IS NO IN GAME SAVING on this thing. Which means if you slip and fall while exiting into a new level you almost have to start the level all over again. This would happen in real life of course but this is a game, After working so hard to get through a level and the end joy would be to start the level over?? that's crazy!!! If you want a good indy game and haven't tried it, get The Infernal Machine.. Also the controls on this game are terrible, very cumbersome.

If adventure has a name...

Looking a good, awesome Xbox adventure without over-excessive violence? Want to play levels across the globe, from Ceylon, Prauge to Hong Kong? Indinana Jones fan? Or are you looking for a challenge in your games?
You came to the right place.
Starting off in Ceylon, Indy is after another piece of treasure. This is where you start the game. After finally getting this special artifact, you're met by two chinese: one, may ying, gradually becomes your beautiful partner. The other is a man who tells Indy of the legend of the Heart of the Dragon: a black pearl that can bring awesome power to the one who holds it. And naturally, the Nazis are after it.
First, you get to battle a wide varitey of enimies: Ivory Hunters in Ceylon, Nazis everywhere, Chinese guardsmen, supernatural beings, and way more.
Secondly, the graphics are awesome. Ever wanted to see the castle of Prague? God, it's gorgeous. Istanbul? Beautiful. How 'bout a chinese fortress up in the mountains?
Third, this game is worth the money. I'm a "beginner" at video games, but I was still able to beat this one. It can get rough at times, but trust: the sheer number of levels makes this a worthy challenge. There's also varitey: One moment you're beating up more Nazis, the next you're shooting down planes.
Fourth: The sound is great. The plucked the original soundtrack from the movies and incorporated into this game. And Indy really sounds like Harrison Ford! Plus for Indy fans!
There are only a few problems:
-Story is a bit weak. Sometimes the guys can be fun, but others it's a bore. Still, it's more gameplay than cutscenes, so it's a minor problem.
-The "enemies" have stupid voices. There's one Nazi that really looks ugly.
-Like I said, this game gets hard: And frustrating. Often. If you don't have patience, you won't get through this game. The guys get tougher to beat as you go on. It gets especially hard when you reach the last levels.

Closing comments:
Definetly worth it. This is one awesome game that will challenge you and provide you with one great game experience. It's rated teen, but don't be fooled. Sure it has machine guns and Indy's whip...but it dosen't have blood or extreme violence. Anyway, this is one great game.

This game is god awful. The controls stink while the game play is medicore. The worse thing about the controls is that it's too flaky and unpolished. The controls are extremely sensitive and at times very unresponsive. The camera angle is even worse. You can face looking into inside of a wall. Yup.. inside of a wall. The camera angel is right up there with the controls as making this game GOD AWFUL. I expect more from Lucas Arts to make a game unfinish and unenjoyable as this.

A fun game

Not a bad game I would give it a 3.5 star rating. The graphics are so so, the sound is decent, and the plot could be another movie. This is like an Indy movie but with alot more bad guys.
I don't really like the whole sharks and alligators bit, since a run in with them would be completely fatal. Nor did I like the whole kraken thing. It is worth the money now, but it does have very little replay value.

This is a fantastic game. I'm not what most would call a "gamer" - I play maybe an hour or two a week - so maybe I'm looking at it differently than some other reviewers, but isn't it SUPPOSED to be hard? What's the point of an easy game? You want easy? Go play Candyland. This game is tough. It's got dozens of scenarios, villains, traps, etc, just like the movies do.
The graphics are stunning, the sound is terrific...all in all, a great game!

A pretty great game

Pretty fun. Shoot up and whack bad guys, climb walls and ladders, and find your way through many fun levels.

I just beat the game on the "Normal" difficulty level and I must say that I was overall 'content' with the game. Not an overly spectacular game, but if you are at all a big fan of Dr. Jones, this game is a must-have. First and foremost, the most disappointing aspect of the game I thought was the graphics, which on the same scale would receive 3 stars; for a 2003 PS2 video game, it's average at best. HOWEVER, what lacks in graphics is made up for in the fantastic gameplay. There is a diverse array of enemies (Nazis, Turkish and Chinese thugs, demons, etc.) and weapons, and the fighting sequences along with the background music really make for a true Indy experience, just like in the movies, which in all honesty is what really kept me playing this game. In addition to the intuitive controls, typical storyline, and decent voice acting (minus a few repetitive one-liners), I thought that the hand-to-hand combat moves and body physics were actually pretty good. But what I think is key to this game is the variety in gameplay. You will not only fight your enemies with your hands and/or weapons, but there is also some puzzle solving, and maneuvering Indy through many booby traps as well as underwater. As you would expect there is also a lot of climbing, jumping, and swinging using his trusty whip. Finally, in a nutshell, this game has a bit of everything, everything that you would expect a game based on Indiana Jones to have. If you are a fan of the movie trilogy, you will find this game very entertaining and fun to play!

Value? A great rental or buy (for the big Indy fan) if you can get it used or new for less than $20. Replayability? I thought that the "Normal" setting could have been a little tougher, maybe by the addition of more intense swarms of enemies. However, I like this game well enough to simply go at it again on the "Difficult" setting...

If theres ever going to be a new indy movie...

Then this game deserves much credit in it's making. In Indiana Jones and the Emporers Tomb, there will seldomly be a part in the game where you will feel bored, the puzzles are often fresh and various, the evil villains make for a nice gunfight or fistfight and the plot, hands down made me stand up and cheer when I had finally beaten it. The only drawback.....I WANT MORE.
