you can finally play as snake throught the whole game. Witch you you can play him in the plant part ot the game.Or even play as raiden in the tanker episode. It is also going to contain hundreds of versus missions to keep you occupied for awhile. Snake will also be able to wear the original suit as in part one witch makes this game real interesting and worth it.

"METAL GEAR SOLID 2"

I am going to review the game Metal Gear Solid 2. It has a lot of animated blood. And a lot of animated violence. It's a good game for gamers that like to play action games.
This game has a lot of positive things .Its really a good game but it can be better. The good things are that you can have fun shooting people in there heads. You also have to think of some strategies so you won't get caught. Also you get to steal the enemy's weapons once you kill him. That way you won't run out on ammo. You get to hide in lockers so they won't spot you. And in this game there's new tricks including guns and tricks so you won't get caught by your enemies.
Some bad things are that when you die you have to start over from the last place you saved from. Also you need more weapons because there's only a few. It would be better if there were more combos to fight with, or different tricks to use so you won't get caught.
I say the game is good but I've played better.

The Real deal behind tha game

I went to my friends house to see what this game was all about. Well we started with such excitment but yet, I grew board of this game really fast. He ended up beating the SOL story in 2 days, and I hardly played any of it. He got board of it too, cuz he had SOL as well. Well here's the deal
Gameplay:Well the same except on the Xbox you have to hit the left anolog stick to get out of 1st person view, and that makes you not wan't to get your cover blown, and the game suffers from slowdown, which really ticked me off.
Graphics:Whoever said that this took advantage of the Xbox graphics is lyin. There nearly the same as the PS2's or a slight bit worse, but anyway, they look kinda the same. So not much canged here.
Sound:Well yea the sound is a bit better than the PS2's, and that so far is the first advantage the Xbox had over the PS2
Value:Well if you are a fan of metal gear and have every single game, like me, then you pretty much have this game. The VR and alternate missions:You can just pop in MGS VR missions and there u go; Snake tales:They were intruiging at first, but they are very dissapointing once you're done; SOL if you have SOL for the PS2, then it's pretty much the same old game, just a diffrent system, unless you wanted to play as Snake very badly, but I don't give a ...
Overall:This game is very dissapointing to me and my friend. This will not even be as nearly praised as MGS2. This is baisicly a port of MGS2. I was expecting another great port like Max Payne, but got Resident Evil's directors cut. Anyone with a PS2 and has MGS2, and thought that substance was the reason to buy an Xbox, belive me you rather wait till it comes out for the PS2, unless that'll be a letdown as well. If you have both systems with MGS2, I'd rather wait for Splinter Cell, DOA Xtreeme Volyball or Halo 2 than buy this if I were u. My friend wanted to sell it, so I got someone for him that brought it. If u have only a Xbox, then u jes might get this game.

Better than Splinter Cell, huh?

"Metal Gear Solid 2 is more sneaky than Splinter Cell! Splinter Cell is just about the graphics! In Metal Gear Solid 2, you get to sit through three hours of cutscenes and try to comprehend the screwed up storyline they throw in your face! When you get to play, you'll see how short the game really is, how idiotic the bosses are, and how better it is than Splinter Cell!" This is what I usually hear from people who don't like Splinter Cell. This could have been a good game if they didn't try to make a movie out of it, but sadly, that's exactly what they did. The storyline is terrible. The conversations you have to listen to are sappy and boring. There didn't really need to be a character change in the game. You switch from Solid Snake to Raven(Why?). I would be better off playing as Solid Snake, but you have to switch for some reason. You fight most of the bosses in the 2nd portion while playing as Raven, and the bosses are pathetic. There's a Storm-like boss with a big lightning gun, a vampire with swords who happens to be in love with the boss with the lightning gun, a fat bomb carrying boss, and a boss who reminds me of Dr. Octopus. There is a corny plot for each of them, and I don't want to sit through them again because they're so stupid. The game's plot gets more bizzare as it goes on. I'm not going to expain what they are because it's too much. The last thing I'm going to say is: Splinter Cell is 10 times better. The graphics are good, the storyline is more realistic, and it actually feels like a stealth game. I get mad when people yell at me for not liking Metal Gear Solid 2. I read that even the guy who owns Konami thinks Metal Gear Solid 2 is stupid and that the original is better, which is probably true. Go cry now, MSG2 fans.

Disappointing!!!

I took the plunge and bought this recently for $6.99 from my local video store, and I'm taking it back.

My sense from reading previous reviews is that many gamers are inclined to like this game on the Xbox because they have enjoyed previous versions on another console (PS2 I think). And I'm ok with that.

I need to admit here that my only frame of reference for this game is the Splinter Cell series on XBOX and for that reason the gameplay is just so disappointing to me.

If you're a Splinter Cell fan and are expecting something even remotely akin to that gameplay experience you will be terribly disappointed. (In my humble opinion.)

There were two major problems with the gameplay for me:

1) The camera angle is not well positioned which makes it difficult to get a good orientation of one's surrounding and makes movement difficult, I found. I can't emphasize strongly enough how much the camera angle bothered me.

2) Given how bad the camera angle for the game is, one wants so very desperately to play in first person mode. But, while the game does allow one to look around in the first person mode, it doesn't allow one to *move around* in first person.

Bottom line: the game lacks the fluid gameplay experience that I've come to enjoy from Splinter Cell and just doesn't even come close to measuring up to that standard.

On a more positive note, the graphics were very impressive and the story-line and cut-aways were equally impressive.

BORING!

This is the first Metal Gear game that I have played, so I cannot compare this to the other. I like a plot that goes with a game; but, to sit and watch 15 minutes of choppy videos and still frames is too long to wait to get into a game.

On top of the seemingly slow story line, I was very disappointed in the gameplay. The graphics are fine and movement is not too bad. The lack of camera control and the horrible angles that the game gives you makes it very difficult to use your character to interact with others and the environment.

A must have!

OK. Metal Gear Substance is going to be a blast for those of you who haven't played the game yet. I haven't even played it yet but I am excited about this game. You could do al lot of stuff in Metal Gear Substance that you couldn't do in Metal Gear Solid like hide in lockers, hold a bad guy as a hostage with your socom, shoot during first Person View Mode, and other stuff. The game will have great enemy AI that means the guys that go after you will be actually be smart. ...

save your [the money] for splinter cell; don't buy a port

i subscribe to gamepro. i remember a few issues back when some one from konami was going to make a "NEW GAME" on xbox based on mgs2:sol. well, they made the game but to me after reading all the reviews i can say mgs2:sol is nothing more than a straight port. look if they were going to make a new version of mgs2 WHY DIDN'T THEY STOP PLAYING WITH IT AND JUST MAKE THE NEW VERSION LIKE THEY SAID THEY WOULD? well they don't have to cause tom clancy did what konami was supposed to do and didn't.....he made a new game designed for the system, he didn't make a port. GGOD JOB CLANCY. no i have not seen mgs2 and no i have not played it. why would i even look at mgs2:sol when splinter cell is going to be so much better in every category?

Splinter Cell, so what!

I've played Splinter Cell and it sucked. The camera is garbage and the aiming system is so skrewed up it's not even funny. I'd prefer MGS2 over Splinter Cell anyday.

Extremely fun, but has the one flaw all XBOX games have

Many loved MGS2 for its incredible graphics and gameplay, yet loathed its convoluted story and slightly whiney lead character Raiden(he wasn't THAT bad...). I guess this title was made as an apology for everyone, which now has tons of extra features and gameplay modes. The VR and Alternative missions are extremely addictive, and they start out easy but get way harder as the game goes on. I have often stayed up late just attempting to finally acomplish one of these flawlessly. Plus, there's also the addition of Snake Tales, which allows the player to go on numerous storylines as Solid Snake himself, ranging from normal to laughable to just plain crazy(one has Snake pitted against an evil dimensional overlord. Yes, you just read that last line right). Overall, while they don't add up to MGS2's storyline, they are fun to play around with. My only complaint with the game is the same I have with every XBOX title: The controls STINK! It doesn't matter which game I play, the controls are often unresponsive and do not react even if I press multiple buttons, and as a result I often die in this game. No doubt the PS2's controls are a lot better. Still, even considering this is just a nice special edition of MGS2 with bonus features, it's incredibly fun to play. However, I suggest that if you already own the regular MGS2, that you should rent it first.
