Second of all Metal Gear Solid 2 is almost a perfect game. The graphics are the best graphics yet to be seen on a console. The gameplay is one of the deepest and most involving gameplay of all time, the game manages to execute a terrific amount of strategies, weapons, and stealth gameplay while preserves the dignity of a story-driven video game.
The characters were well developed. I hated playing at Raiden at first, but that was only because i got really attached to snake's character in the previous game. but if you open your mind for a second, Raiden character was well developed, and he does not deserve the hatred that most of us show. The cenematic feel of the game itsself is breath taking, the camera movements have never been seen in a video game before, they are applyed in a way to give the gamer a cinamatic feel...this game is the reason i got my family into video gaming to begin with, it has an excelent story, awesome grap[hics.. and i challange anyone of you to find a game that executes 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound throughout the entire game. If there shall be any reason to buy an XBOx, this should be it !!!!

4.9 stars, I REALLY want to give a 5 but...

I would really like to give this FIVE stars BUT due to there being some extremely hard frustrating parts in this game I had to take off a point. The things I refer to are things like hidden bombs that are hard to find that you NEED to move on, rarely guards will spot you at an IMPOSSIBLE distance. But other than those small problems this game is REALLY fun. If you like Metal Gear Solid on the PS1 you should love this. Its just like one excepts with new characters, different story line, and some bonuses that the first one did not have. I reccomend buying this game for sure, preferably with the Strategy guide because YOU WILL more than likely NEED IT. OR you can try to find a good sensible FAQ online.

Far surpasses the former Metal Gear Solid

This game completes the storyline from the original Metal Gear game from Nintindo and the Metal Gear Solid game on PlayStation2. I have now played all three games and they far surpass all other games because of the deep storyline that accompanies the gameplay. MGS2 is a great game that should be added to any gamer's library.

Best Game Ever!

Okay, first off, the first reveiw on the first page is right in every way except for one: Collecting dog tags is not worthless! If you collect all of the dog tags on both sections (tanker and plant)of the game, you will receive the wig. This makes it so the player has unlimited ammo for any gun that they have. This only adds to the fun of the game, but also makes you work for it. I like that. Secondly: This game kicks so much ...! I love everything about it. You can do so much, even things that are unexpected and lifelike. Take, for instance, knocking on a wall, then hiding. The guard hears your knocking and comes to investigate. When he finds nothing is there, he turns his back to you and walks away, you can then hold him up, or break his neck. TIGHT!! Anyway, this game is a little too cool. BUY IT NOW!

WOW.

By now you know (or should know) how good Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is. Well, Substance *contains* Sons of Liberty, along with SOO much more other stuff. I won't give anything secret away, but what I absolutely loved was the included first person view mode. Ever dreamed of playing Metal Gear Solid 2 as a first person shooter? Well, hell yeah, you have, what kind of question is that. And the first person view mode is only half of it... wait no, it's like 5% of it. There are so many secrets and secret characters to find that you'll go crazy... So to wrap up you get Sons of Liberty packed in a disc with tons of extra games, modes, virtual reality missions, and *SIDE STORIES*! If that doesn't make you want to waste your life, not many other things will.

PS: don't get it for PS2! The controls for XBOX are smoother!

this game rocks

This is my first metal gear solid game and I love it.When I first heard about the game it seemed really hard and confusing to understand the story line and gameplay. I was so happy when it came out I bought it the first day and beat it the next day it was so much fun. I would not recommend this game for young audiences because it does deal with mature themes(language, nudity, and extreme violence). I ordered all the action figures because they look so cool and the VR missions will keep you on your toes even after you beat the game. Plus you can also unlock different charecters to play in the game.

best plot in years

Yeah, that's right. I said it. Best plot in years! Anyone who's played the original, well, the gameplay has remained mostly the same, what with the stealth and all that. You basically play the game as Solid Snake or Raiden, covert ops specialists working for an independant anti-terrorist organization. Gameplay involves you going around and, well, sneaking around guards and cameras as you progress through the game. Much like Splinter Cell, using stealth tactics is optimum for your survival. An all-out gunfight usually (though not always,) ends up in your death, so climbing, crawling, and swimming are prime tactics. Not to say that there aren't a fair number of firefights either, something I thought games like Splinter Cell were missing. The gameplay is tight and offers a whole slew of interesting and intense moments, which are interspersed with truly original boss fights. (Although, perhaps, not as original as MGS 1's...) Of course, between these moments of intensity, you are led down a winding path that is called the 'plot'. Now, having played MGS 1, I was totally spyched up for some strange and beautiful story, which I must say was not lacking. READ: anyone new to the series or even those not interested in reading or watching long cutscenes should stay away. Even I thought some of the cutscenes were very long, but if you have the patience as I did, you will not be disappointed. Okay, so some of the instances were a little hokey, such as Solidus' involvement, or even the whole 'Lady Luck' premise. Also, Hideo Kojima seems thrilled to have every single character involved in the plot have some unique and crazy back-story to tell. And they will tell it, like it or not. I'm one of those crazy nuts who wants to know everything, so I wasn't disappointed, but not everyone may be as thrilled as myself or Hideo. There are more than enough plot twists to keep you hooked, if you make it that far, and never have I felt so compelled to finish a game for the story alone. The end sequence is a little overdrawn and preachy, but so was the ending in MGS 1. What I'm getting at is that if you liked the first game, you'll like this one two. And, call me nuts, but the very end sequence, after the credits have finshed rolling, have gotten me so worked up for an MGS 3 that I can't wait until Hideo delves into his warped mind and makes a sequel.

This is an amzing game, not much more to be said however i will go into greater detail

Gameplay: 10/10 Excellent - The new modes and moves are awesome.

Graphics: 9/10 - They are an improvement however they lack a great deal comparing the PS2 and X-Box.

Sound: 10/10 - The great music score certainly does make this fine work also a great SFX engine.

Story: 8/10 - The story is above average but compared to its original ' Metal Gear Solid' its not as exciting however do not let that fool you, its still going to have sucked in!

Lifespan: 10/10 - With all the new modes this expanded game gives its will bring you back almost endlessly.

Overall: 9.5/10 - This game must be owned by fans of stealth shooters and even if youre not that big on these games you become hooked BUY IT!
