Good and Bad

First - i do not have xbox live and so this review is strictly a single player account.

The game is basically fun, i bought it after i totally fell in love with Ghost Recon but there are some drawbacks.

First - your team's AI is pretty terrible. for a "highly trained antiterrorist" unit, they run straight into enemy gunfire far too often. i have found/suspect that in certain areas of levels, certain members of the team are supposed to die. After saving, i have restarted from some points over and over again with many different tecniques (including making myself invincible) to try and get my whole team through and the same one or two of my guys will get killed. even if i go in and clear the room, the guy who had been constantly dying will walk straight into enemy fire in the next room.

Second - compared to ghost recon, i felt that the layot of the different levels and missions was just not as interesting. REALLY missed the feature where you can repeatedly read your "intel" on the next objective. in Six 3, a voice will say things like "the next hostage is on the second floor" but if you miss his voice (explosions, the dog barks, whatever) you have no idea where to head for your next objective. the game soundtrack is awesome, but often makes these clips hard to hear, that brings me to...
Third - the in-game map is TERRIBLE. in ghost recon, the map feature was awesome, complete with zoom-in feature. in this game it's like trying to navigate the pentagon if it was drawn on the back of a dime. plus most levels have different floors, and the map feature has no way of handling this except that your objective will be an arrow if it's on the same floor as you or an "X" if it's on a different floor, but there can be multiple different floors and walking in circles around a half-beaten level gets very dull

The weapon selection is awesome, lots of choices. overall i felt that this game was somewhat "cranked-out" by the clancy people and is not overly creative. your team is not nearly as effective as ghost recon and that can take a lot of the fun away in a "squad-based game". i feel that if i don't go kill em myself them all my guys will die trying!
the game is very difficult, but overall not that impressive

This is a tough first person shooter...even on the easiest mode. Good graphics, somewhere between Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon. Great choice of weapons but once chosen, you are stuck with it through the whole mission. Three saves per mission...pick them carefully. Compared to Ghost Recon or Desert Storm, you cannot choose who you want to be and you cannot move team members individually. You do have a Zulu mode in which you can give an order and have them execute it on command. Great for entering from two different directions. I find myself having to walk away from play for awhile because of the anxiety factor. Lots of fun.

This games a winner

If you like squad based anti-terrorist shooting action, where you are the squad leader, you will love this game.

This game is probably close to as good as splinter cell for quality of game play, strategy, and just plain fun. It also does not crash very often unlike ghost recon.

Pros:

Tactical game. Not just a plain shooter. Squad based, and you are the squad leader.

Not easy, though not so difficult to be impossible. A good challenge. Some sequences really make you think about how to win the mission. Not always straightforward tactics.

Fun game with good graphics and smooth controls in general and gameplay. And the best thing is it does not crash all the time unlike ghost recon (an otherwise fun game).

Cons:

Not that many. Great game.

Unless you have "Live" it is only a 1-person game

It's a great game with great graphics, it's a lot of FUN and VERY challenging. My husband and son-in-law just love it. They both have Xbox Live and they love to play Rainbow Six 3 in cooperative mode with each other. They are quite a team!

However, when I bought the game the back of the box states "Players 1-16", which leads you to believe that you can play with more than 1 person without being on
Live", however, it is actually a single-player game unless you are playing on-line.

I was a little disappointed in that, as I have 5 boys (including my husband). It would sure be nice to keep more than 1 busy at a time!

Great Fun to Mess Around With, But Several Small Errors

Being a big fan of tactical games, Rainbow Six 3 was on my to-get list and just recently I picked up my copy. I had a blast with it and still play it despite the fact that I beat it several times. The weapons were veryy accurate in terms of practicality and functionality; I was very pleased that Ubi Soft actually got the technical information of the actual weapons and implimented them correctly instead of making a messed-up array of weapons like the RCP-90 in Golden Eye (Great weapon for a great game).

The graphics are not bad given the time of RBS3's release. Nothing special about them, but they arn't lacking soo much that one begins to notice it. However, the AI is seriously lacking on both the terrorists and your fellow team mates. When you give Zulu (Attack on your command) commands, they can get stuck in corners walk into the given area and get killed in the process. It's really annoying to move them out of your way too. Several times when clearing rooms they'll either jump out in front of me and take a few rounds to the back or they'll stop in the doorway and start shooting like it was a carnival game.

The terrorist AI is also lacking. I could take out someone with a loud .40 S&W handgun and the nearby terrorist will just scratch his head wondering if it was a firearm or if his stomache just made a noise. Other times the terrorist will try to roll away to safety and instead roll towards you and shoot you while rolling... it's really weird.

What also makes me mad is the fact that you need XBox Live in order to do Co-Op. I'm sorry, but I don't feel like paying money in order to play Co-Op. I think it's rediculous and a money-making scheme dreamed by Tom Clancy or Bill Gates. I was escatic to play Conflict: Desert Storm on Co-Op, why can't other games be the same.

Lastly, I hate it when you can only control yourself and not others, much less give individual orders. It takes away from the controlability from the game, thereby being at the mercy of the AI... and we know how much I love the AI.

But nonetheless, I loved playing this game. My favorite thing to do it use phosphorous on the terrorist and watch them burst into flames. It's a really fun game, but these small errors really do add up to a big deal. However, it is still worth getting.

WOW!

This game has all you would want in a FPS(first person shooter.)It has a huge aray of guns from a SMGS to MGs,cool missions that take all your tactical, strategy and squad-commanding skills.PLUS if you have an Xbox Live Headset then you can talk to your A.I. squad-mates to order them for example you can say"Open, flash, and clear."so they open a door chuck in a flash grenade, make sure its clear and then shout back at you "CLEAR!"And finaly good Xbox Live play with both Coop and Adversarial modes. It has shooting like Ghost Recon and cool effects like Splinter Cell.

Pros:
Great graphics
XBOX LIVE PLAY!YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!
Cool missions
head set squad orders so you dont have smack a ton of buttons
sweet gameplay
cool tactical moves like peering around corners, thermal vision, night vision and crouching

Cons:
sometimes your squad mates don't understand what you say SO SPEAK CLEARLY
if you play games like Halo before this its hard to get used to the realistic gameplay
NO GOING PRONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well anyway its a lot better than the PC version and I would say one thing about this:GREAT GAME!

Near sinker that is saved by the online play! (ogle!)

Someone help me! Because I am addicted to this game!!! This game has replaced Unreal as the Online King... for now. So if you are stuck in a mind bending decision between Rainbow Six 3 and Counter-Strike, I would definitely recommend Rainbow Six 3 by a land slide.

Pros: 1. Online Play! It rocks! It's all the rave! Id give it eight...teen thumbs up!!! (its that good)(insert drool here if in agreement)

2. Voice communication in the single player action adds to the experience

3. A mass array of weapons to choose from

Cons: 1. Single player missions are repetitive, only consisting of hostage rescuing and bomb defusing plus recon missions which require, yes, bomb diffusing and hostage rescuing... without getting caught (whoopie! NOT!)

2. WHERE'S THE STRATEGY?! Does the USA wing their recon missions? I mean this was what Rainbow Six was all about, strategy, now they're making it into more of a glorified FPS!

3. Graphics are too PS2-ish

4. youll only use about 3-5 weapons in primary weapons, 1 in secondary weapons and frag grenades (the rest are basically useless to the enemy)

5. many cheats in the online game (Molotov cocktails, Action Replay, and Wall glitching to name a few) + Ubisoft is working too slow, if working at all to fix these problems

6. Is there any way to turn off the music? (PLEASE MAKE IT STOP! MAKE THE SHODDY EXCUSE FOR PATRIOTIST RESCUE MUSIC IN THE MENU STOP!!!!!)

Final Verdict: The only thing that saves this from being a Drake or a Dead Man's Hand is basically the online play. Even though there are glitches in the online game that I have talked about, Id still buy it basically for the online play

AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a big fan of Splinter Cell and I was looking forward to play this game. I expected it to be Splinter Cell with larger weapons. I was wrong. I played a demo disc, Alcatraz level. It is in the dark so for the whole(that's right)level, I had to use my night and thermal vision. I also just shot everywhere when I saw something move. The before you know it, there's a guy behind you and you have to restart the whole level. A dissapoint, because it's a ok game but does not live up to one's expectations.

good
