Liberty city is a throw back to GTA3 same city, same roads. This time around though its new characters and new missions the game puts the PSP to good use and is a lot of fun to play. Now the bad its no way near the level of Vice City which I think is one of the greatest video games every made but it still has lots of fun missions and a good story to keep the game moving. Best of all it lets you take GTA on the road I only gave if four stars because it would have been nice to see a new setting for the game but it still is lots of fun to play.

It's great to see this game on the PSP!

When I bought a PS2, the first game I bought was a GTA game. I bought 2 other GTA games after that because I loved it so much. So when I had to pick a game to buy along with my new PSP, Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories was my first choice.

So what's to like about this game? First of all, the graphics are awesome. Because this was my first PSP game, I didn't know what to expect with the graphics so I was pleased to see that the PSP version is almost identical to the PS2 version, graphic-wise. Second, those people who like storylines in video games will like this game. Before every mission, you see a brief explanation of exactly what is going on and why you're about to do the mission. Third, aside from regular missions, there's quite a few other things to do. You can do ambulance missions and taxi missions. You can do what I do and just steal cars or motorcycles and drive around. These mini-games are great bonuses to break up the main part of the game.

And what's not to like? Look, this game is meant for adults, hence the "M" (Mature) rating. I absolutely do not recommend this for kids. The negative reviews you see on Amazon for GTA games are from people who don't understand what video game ratings are. There's a lot of swearing, violence, and mob-type activities. If this offends you, stay away from this game. I don't consider this to be a negative but rather a warning.

If you're a GTA fan, you must add this game to your PSP collection.

Here's what I think....

This game is the whole reason why I bought the PSP slim. I played the PC version and could not stand looking at the screen longer than 15 minutes until I felt sick....motion sickness I guess. Playing it on the PSP eliminated that problem. It still amazes me to have all three islands on a small little handheld. The controls are better than expected. Unlike the PC, you've got the option and advantage of auto-aim. The only problem is, once you're done with the game, the PSP slim seemed to crash randomly. The only way to avoid this seemed to require loading another game...minor inconvenience. I still highly recommend this game to PSP ownerz. (Of course, this is the patched 2.6 fw version)

Sony - Please create 2nd analog stick add on

Amazing job by Rockstar of porting this title, bet they are let down by the very poort design of the PSP which was built to run games from the mid 80s. How Sony could release a handheld with only one analog stick (and a lousy nub at that) is beyond me. They can correct this horrendous design flaw (which is the big reason why not one great game has been made for the system), by coming out with an add-on, that plugs into the usb port, and adds an additonal analog stick. Even better would be an add on that adds two analog sticks so the nub can be ignored. It would snap onto the PSP and should be very easy to design. Considering how many controllers plug into a usb, this should not be a far fetched idea and would change forever how the PSP plays games. Plus it would eliminate the obligitory mention of control problems always included in any review.

You all are crazy!!!!!

This is not an ADULT game. I think the age limit is WAY too high.

Amazing but practically impossible to play

This game is great... I can tell that much. I couldn't believe how amazing the graphics are on that tiny little screen. The story and missions are full of the same life that the console versions had... This is without question the best PSP game out there right now, and I don't expect anything better to come out anytime soon.

The problem is... It's just near impossible to control! That analogue joystick on the PSP is horrendous, and no matter how much I played I could not get used to it. Naturally, this is not Rockstar's fault, they're blameless on their end. I can tell that the gameplay is solid, but just trying to control with that analgoue stick is kind of maddening.

It's made it very hard to play through... and it is for this one frustrating thing that I couldn't completely enjoy the game...

How did Sony think that stick was designed properly? With many other games it wasn't this bad... but with GTA you really need to have good control over your car.

Still, If you have a PSP, you should get this (provided that you're over the age of 17... kids should NOT be playing these games under any circumstances).

Side note... The game requires you to upgrade to the OS V. 2.0...
So if you want to run any homebrew software, you'll have to downgrade when you're done playing it. But according to Sony, "that's not what the PSP was made for" anyway.

Its really good, duh.

As you all know this game is spectacular. Also it can be taken with you anywhere now! I am at 4% complete of the game and the missions are getting kind of diffucult..A little more on the PSP than the PS2 because the controls are slightly more diffucult, especially when driving.

The story is just like GTA 3 and VC.

Here is some cheat codes you may like for weapons:

Set 1 ... UP, SQUARE, SQUARE, DOWN, LEFT, SQUARE, SQUARE, RIGHT.
Set 2 ... UP, CIRCLE, CIRCLE, DOWN, LEFT, CIRCLE, CIRCLE, RIGHT.
Set 3 ... UP, X, X, DOWN, LEFT, X, X, RIGHT.

I didn't use them, but will to kill those diffucult Triads 'ma wanted me to waste!

The grapics are superb and this game is going to give you endless hours of entertainment.

yes, read other reviews for details on how good a conversion it is, and what a great format, etc etc etc. it is. BUT, it's too frustrating! there are no difficulty levels like the console game. i want to chill and have fun on the go, not have my morning train commute be taxing and annoying.

the loading time for the cinematic sections are too long, especially when you have to re-do objectives over and over again. HOW could the game designers not know this! there is no way to skip them. really really lame. i can understand and deal with the challenge of a difficult objective, but sitting through loading time without being able to just skip a cinematic scene is just very poor game design, and thus i give it 3 stars. i think it is so blatantly weak to not skip cinematics before or while they're loading, that it is a significant detriment to a good game. for me, it pretty much ruins the fun factor, and that's what GTA is supposed to be all about. rockstar should know better.

This game rocks
