Ridge Racer is Back!

Hands down, Ridge Racer is the best racing game on the PSP right now. Here are a few reasons why:

1.Excellent gameplay. Easy to pick up and play. Cars have a great sense of speed.
2. Kick A** soundtrack
3. Jaw dropping graphics. Namco spared no detail too small for Ridge Racer. When you boost up your car, a cool blur effect trails your car. Racetrack backgrounds are absolutely gorgeous.
4. Great replay value. The more you play, the more cars, tune up kits and courses you unlock(Check out the PacMan car!).

Ridge Racer is arcade racing through and through. There are no real cars endorsed in this game, no fine tining your gear ratios, etc. like you would find in Gran Tursimo. Just choose your car and use your best skills to win the race. Your main goal is the completion of the World Tour. In every race, you start from last place and try to end up in first. Drifting on turns fills a boost meter, which gives you extra speed to overtake the car in front of you. Winning more races opens up different portions of the tour. Your garage amasses better equipped exotic cars to leave your competition in the dust. That being said, Ridge Racer is a must have for PSP owners.

Living in Japan, I was able to get my hands on the psp months ago, as well as the first wave of games that came along with it. My first purchase was Ridge Racers, and I must say that I had pretty high hopes for this first game, and I must admit that Ridge Racers lives up to these high expectations.

First of all, the graphics on the psp are great, of the same quailty that we have become accustomed to on the ps2. The gameplay itself is smooth running, and the levels are great. There are cool cars, cool tracks, and the game is quite challenging. The game makers did not ease up because this is the first release, so there is some serious time required to get thrugh the beginner, pro and expert levels of this game. Ridge Racers is not unlike most car racing games that we have seen before, but it gives good entertainment value for the relatively low cost of the game. as I am playing the japanese version of the game, it took some time to figure out the menus and some of the instructions, but this will not be a problem with the North american release.

also, the wi-fi system on the psp is easy to use, effective, and it runs pretty smoothly. It is a great way to pass time on the Tokyo trains, playing against another friend. The distance available with the wi-fi is impressive, so you are not stuck sitting right beside whoever you are playing against. This is a nice feature, because it eliminates the hassle of a connecting chord.

So, overall, the launch of the psp has been tremendously successful here in Japan, and Im sure the same will go for the North american release of the system. and Ridge Racers is a good place to start with this new system. This is a fun game, one that gets quite addictive to be sure, so I highly reccomend making this game one of your first psp purchases.

Oh, Damn!

This was the fourth game that I bought for my PSP, all of which I got within the first week of owning it. I had previously bought Wipeout Pure, and was iffy about purchasing yet another racing game. Well, it was very worth it. Once I picked this one up, I couldn't put it down. I played it pretty much non-stop until completing the game and unlocking everything I could. While some tracks are fairly easy to coast through to first place, such is not the case throughout. It certainly has its' share of really hard challenges that will keep you playing the same track over and over again. The graphics are absolutely gorgeous and the gameplay is a lot of fun, so you really won't mind having to do so. It was only recently that I started playing my other games again. This game is worth every bit that I paid for it, and you won't regret owning it, yourself.

best one yet

I love Ridge Racer. I've loved every incarnation of it. And I say that because many people don't quite get the gameplay, it feels too arcade, not authentic enough or in many cases "relies too heavily on powerslides" but who cares, if you so like it you will love this version. If you don't like it, you probably won't.

If you've never played any Ridge Racer, I think it's worth taking a chance on it. It's not about customizing your car, or working up your stats on the circuit or anything like many simulations go for, it's just about the driving. It looks the best it ever has and has plenty of quick ways to play it to keep it interesting as a handheld.

If you've ever liked any Ridge Racer, you'll love this one. Grab it so you can kill time with the rest of us.

For only 20$, you can't go wrong

Ridge Racer is just one of those special series that racing fans can keep playing long after it's release. It's addictive racing, shiny cars, over the top secret cars, and a memorable race babe, Ridge Racer is the definite arcade racer. Since it's debut, it has promtply given gearheads the chance to slide their way through golden sunsets and crystal waterfalls, turboing to techno tunes. Good times indeed.

The latest incarnation of the game, is a greatest hits collections of race tracks and cars from Ridge Racer's past. It's a perfect game to play on the go, as it is bright, fun, and has good load times. The game has incredible graphics. Track detail, gloss, and awesome skies dominate this racer. The drifting feels natural, and the controls really feel like Namco put effort into their games. Drifting is really wasy, and when you do uit enough, you get rewarded with boost. it's really fun to slide around at full speed, as your car dosen't lose speed when drifting, and it's a total blast when you going really fast. The sound is futuristic, with a shiny menu and a huge array of tunes, with remixed songs as well. And feel the wind with incredible wind sounds and assorted goods to bring out great water effects. this game is a greast racer with alot of value. And even after winning it, you'll still want to racer more thanks to it's addicting gameplay and the lag free 8 player wireless matchups. With all this, you can't go wrong, especially when it is a the magic price point, clocking in at only twenty bucks.

The game will entertain you, and if you are a fan of Ridge, than this will live up to your expectations. And if you have a PSP and a DS, this one blows the DS version out of the water, which suffered from control problems.

A must for gearheads, and heck, even people who aren't into racing games will easily slide behind the wheel to see all the sunsets this game packs in.

They tricked me!

I first loaded up this game and this cheeseball old version of ridge racer came up. My temper began to boil and i was livid! I just payed fourty bucks for this piece a????? But after realizing it was just an interactive front to the real game I continued on and one of the must stunning game intros began to play that I have ever seen, let alone on a portable game device.

Gameplay is fairly simple. You move left to right, accelerate, brake, and drift. Great part is, the more you drift the more nitrous you build up. You dont have to burden yourself with tweaking your car in the pit. Theres pretty much just a handful of cars to start and as you race along and beat computer opponents, more cars become available. Oh, there is a manual and auto tranny option.

Stunning graphics and exciting gameplay await. Ridge runner is a must have game for the PSP.

absolute and utter eye candy for the psp

Think of this Ridge Racer as a 'best-of' collection that has all the best bits of the ten-year long previous Ridge games and you pretty much got the idea of what this Ridge Racer holds in store. It boasts the largest selection of tracks in any previous version(24, to be exact), with a selection of 58 different cars, as well as upgrades for your cars. It's possibly the biggest and best Ridge Racer to date. Add to that, 8 player head to head competition(something that no other racer has, right now, except for Wipeout Pure) which can get really intense- at times-...let me tell you. Speed and control are dead-on, which is important with this type of racer. The graphics...well,...let's just say are simply amazing. Some of the best I've seen on the PSP so far. It's one of those games that shows the PSPs' graphical prowess. It's much sharper and realistic looking than the version of Ridge Racer for the Nintendo DS(which, in my opinion, looked downright horrendous). It's the second racer I've got for my collection(Need for Speed Underground Rivals being the first)of PSP games and is another that has kept me addicted playing for weeks on end.
If you're a Ridge Racer fan that wants to take a drive down Memory Lane for some all-out racing fun, this game is definitely for you. If, however, you're not big on the series...this game won't do much to change your mind about it.
I'll admit, I'm not much of a Ridge Racer fan myself but this game has been a blast to play. I love it.

FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!
