Hawk fans must buy this game

THUG 2 Remix for PSP may not be the perfect game for anyone, but if you are a big fan of the Tony Hawk series, then this game is your dream come true. When I made the decision to buy the PSP, I actually didn't even consider buying this game because I already had the PS2 version. Then I read that the PSP version contains four brand-new levels, and realized that I must buy it because I could never stand to miss any Tony Hawk levels. But after thinking about it, I realized that I would have ended up buying this game even without the new levels. Why? Because I love playing Tony Hawk games. It is the type of game that I can pick up any time and start playing, even if I'm not working on any particular goals. Having a Tony Hawk game at my fingertips 24/7 is why I bought this game.

There is plenty of gameplay here. There are more levels than I've bothered to count and you can play through them in both story mode (where the goals are kind of stupid) and classic mode (where the goals are like the older games and you have a 2:00 time limit). Plus, there is easy, normal, and sick difficulty levels, so the truly hardcore have a whole extra level of challenge to keep them playing longer.

I bought this game two weeks ago and I still cannot stop playing it, even though I already played through it on my PS2! If the Tony Hawk series even remotely grabs your interest, you should get this game.

best hawk yet!

ive been playing this game for a few days and have to say it the best hawk of the series. i was hesitant about buying it after owning the ps2 version but the psp has new cities + the ps2 levels that are bigger and deeper. i dont know how this was accomplished on a handheld without cutting anything but its very cool.

Perty good launch game for the psp

Okay, for a launch game on the psp i thought this game was really really good. this game was offered to previous consoles but this version for the psp has more features like new levels. i also have never played THUG 2 on the consoles so this game was fresh for me.if u have played THUG 1 0r 2 then it might take a little take getting used to the handling and buttons of this game. ok now im gonna seperate eac aspects of any game into categories and rate each one, the categories are, control, sound, graphics and picture and finally how fun it is.\
Control-8/10: nice controls, kinda took me time to get used to it and i even had to look in the manual cuz ive played Thug 1 and some things were different. kinda feels weird when u make ur own spray becuz the analog stick is a little touchy. but it is easy to get used to. also kind of confusing without l2 and r2 buttons but is still easy to overcome. but the game controls r easy and make busting combos an easy task which is great
Sound-10/10: one of the best soundtracks ive ever heard in a videogame ever! plus u can edit the playlist to your preference which makes things better. voices sound perty good. i recommend using earphones for this becuz to get the most out of this game the earphones work great. the built-in speakers do the job but earphones maxmize the fun.
Graphics and Picture-10/10:ok, im very very picky when it come to the look of the game but this game blew me away. possibly one of the best graphics so far in a game put onto a handheld. i mean handhelds r known to lack in the graphics department, but this game look almost the same as ps2 graphics, who knows, maybe furture games for the psp might even match up to ps2 graphics! i liked the detail put into this game. goodjob activision!
FunFactor-9.5/10: this game overall was one of the best psp launch games so far(cuz i havent tried any other ones yet). perty funny stunts and cutscenes. and having Bam as a main dude in the game just makes things better. he actually made me laugh in one of the cutscenes. just beware kids cuz of the rude behavior presented by some of the skaters. might be a little hard for little kids and some ppl might be offended by the rude language and behavior but i really dont care... really fun multiplayer action. great to play with your buddies. you can even play a game of horse with just one psp, so even if your friends dont have one yet you guys can still play 2gether on one psp, u just pass the psp around when its their turn. how awesome is that!

An amazing game that will blow you away

One of the launch titles for the new PSP is Tony Hawks Underground 2 Remix. While this was basically released a while ago on all the consoles as well as the pc, this version incorporates 4 new cities as well as a few other features that were left out of the console versions. I never played THUG 2 on the consoles so this is an entirely new experience for me. For a handheld, I was amazed at how detailed the cities and characers were. This is easily one of the best PSP launch games and it will have you hooked for a long time. The load times aren't bad at all and the controls are great too. My only complaint is that there is no sound during the cutscenes which is kind of a bummer but I guess its not that big of a deal. You can even map your own face onto a custom character by loading a photo from a digital camera! Anyways, this is one game that will you will definitely want to own if you bought a brand new PSP.

The Hawk hits the PSP and it's better than expected.

Tony Hawk's Underground 2 for the home consoles were really good Tony Hawk games because they were just a whole lot different from the rest of the games in the series; really unique and strange. Here is my review for THUG2 Remix for the PSP.

This game is a lot like the console versions, but there are a few things different about this game. First, the character customization is a little bit better because there is more choices for items to put on your character. Not a lot, but there are a few. Second, the levels appear in different orders, and some of the older levels from past Tony Hawk games appear in this version instead of the console ones. For instance, on both versions you start off in the level Training; which is exactly the same for both versions. But the next level on the PS2 or any other console would have been Boston, but on the PSP it's Santa Monica, which is in Tony Hawk 2 I believe as well as Tony Hawk's American Wasteland.

Graphics: 8.5/10. The graphics in this game during game play looks very similar to the earlier versions of this game. They look really good for a handheld. There is really just one thing that I don't like: the vides/cutscenes. Normally in a game the cutscenes have better graphics than the actual in-game graphics, but in THUG 2 Remix, the graphics are actually worse, and the graphics are really glitchy and blurry. The videos are definitely not pretty to watch, but the overall in game graphics look really, really good.

Sound: 9/10. The sound is pretty much the same as the earlier versions, there are even some songs from the older version's soundtrack in this one too, but there are also different songs; not just the same exact ones that are in the PS2 and Xbox versions. The voices are well done, and the rest of the skateboard sounds sound good, too.

Control: 7/10. Yeah. Controls... I never really had a problem with a single games controls until I played this game. These controls are just confusing, stupid, and makes you wonder more than once "WHY THE HELL DIDN'T SONY HAVE TWO ANALOG STICKS PUT ON THE PSP!?!?" Since you can't change the controls, yes, SINCE YOU CAN NOT CHANGE THE CONTROLS, this is how you play. You have to skate around with the D-Pad; which sounds okay, but since the PSP is known for it's somewhat unresponsive D-Pad, it really isn't easy to do. If you try to press two buttons on the D-Pad at once ( Like turning while on your board without moving ) it's actually very hard to do unless you are off your board because you have to press down extremely hard for this to work; and it isn't even worth it. You will find yourself in some kind of a race to get points in story mode, and you won't be able to do it because the controls are so out of whack. When you press L to get off your board, you can use the D-Pad to walk, or analog stick to run. The rest of the buttons pretty much are just like the PS2 version; X to ollie, Triangle to grind, Square for flip tricks, and O for grabs. The controls are just terrible for me because of the fact you HAVE TO USE the D-Pad to move; I would have much rather been able to use the analog stick.

Fun: 7.5/10. All-in-all, this is a decent game worth checking out even if you have played the console versions. Sure this game's controls are mediocre, the nice graphics, the good soundtrack, the somewhat long gameplay makes this a buy to hardcore fans. There is even Ad-Hoc multiplayer ( short distance multiplayer ) for up to ( It's either 4 or 8 players ). That adds to the experience. It would have been nice to have Infrastructure, though. ( Online ). So whether you've already beaten Tony Hawks Underground 2, THUG 2 Remix has some new levels, some older levels Underground 2 didn't have, and it's portable. If you are a die-hard Hawk fan, you should buy this game; even though the controls really are pretty damn bad.

8.1/10

this game is the best game i got for the psp then graphics are the best even on this small system the sound is good the gameplay is soo fun and even longer than the other underground 2's cuz theres more levels and in those levels you get to do missions fun game but the camera gets in the way though i think that was the only downfall of this game for the psp so if you have a psp i recomend you to put it on your psp game list cuz its out of this world!

gameplay 10/10
sound 9.5/10
graphics 10/10

Ok, Ok, we get it. Tony hawk is fun and good. The problem is, it's the same game it was 10 years ago. Sure this time there are some destruction elements and some new players and new places, but blah blah blah. Same old, same old. This is a near perfect port of the ps2. It looks great, it plays great, and if you like completing tasks, you keep this game forever. Or, you'll figure out that you wasting insane amounts of time to complete stupid mundane tasks in order to unlock another fascinating new level and many more stupid tasks. We should call it Tony Hawk's puzzle skateboarding, since after the initial coolness of the new world wares off, you spend all of your time solving the puzzle of completing the task.

Bottom Line: Is it fun? As fun as every other Tony game they release yearly. Will I keep it? Not for long. Nothing new here. Buy the game now if you love all Tony Hawk games. Is it for kids? Not to bad if your kids want to just skate around.

same story line but better stuff

in this game there are 4 new levels and more charecters. the graphics ar not as good as the ps2 version butt they are pretty sweet. you have all the create a modes except create a park which is a bummer. i had a glich on mine and my whole body disapeared. i put all the stuff back on my guy but no board because you cant put it back on. the 4 new levels tie in with the story mode. in story mode you get to choose which level you want to go to. you still have the levels you do not choose you just have to go back there unless you dont wanna.buy this game!! the game play is the same as the ps2 version except in here, you run all weird. HERE ARE THE CHEATCODES: (DONT CAPITILIZE IN GAME) PERFECT RAIL-TIGHTROPE. SOME SECRET CHARECTERS: BIRDMAN. type these in correctly and they wiil work. only for the psp though.

Tony Hawk still got it

This game is an incredibly fun game to play. This was one of my first games for the PSP and I couldnt get enough of it. If you liked all the other Tony Hawk's you'll love this game. When playing it I just couldnt put it down.

You must be a diehard Tony Hawk fan to like this, like myself, since I never get tired of playing the Tony Hawk goals. It is essentially the same levels from the old games. The familiarity translated to a portable counterpart is nice but definitely not anything to write home about. It seems that there are very few newbies, although there was a Las Vegas level that I have never played before but not much else. This is the perfect translation from PS2 to PSP because the controls are exactly the same. One should just buy American Wastleland for Xbox or PS2 because then you can watch your skater on a much larger screen(your television or computer). One major complaint I have about this game is that the screen isn't large enough to accomodate the atmosphere of the levels and their grandour . The game is good on PSP but not one of those showcase games to the system that really emplify the PSPs greatness. The games that are truly great are included on the PSP sample disc with exception to ATV Offroad Fury(absolutly infuriating) It is the best Tony Hawk game for a portable game system because the graphics for it widely surpass that of the Gameboy consoles and Nokia phones. A friend of mine played American Wasteland on his Gameboy SP and I could hardly stand the basic, simple plainess of it after playing Underground 2 on PSP. Underground 2 is a fun game to keep for a couple weeks but you may get bored with it after playing it continually. American Wastleland for Xbox is much better than this particular game because there are no loading screens and it takes forever to load on the PSP. Again I would recommend American Wastleland for PS2 or Xbox. One would get much more satisfaction of playing these sort of games on a large high resolution flatscreen. Buy Underground 2 only under this circumstance: If you really like Tony Hawk and want to play it in the car, waiting room for the doctor, airport or any other situation where you are killing time this version will suffice.
