How about pointing out the "small monthly fee" before we buy

$10 a month is not a small fee when there is no warning about it when the purchase is made. The thing should be free, not $30. I checked again and found no reference to the fee, only that "an internet connection is required". My 12 year old is pretty dissappointed in Amazon for this.

Same old same old

I am surprised game companies these days cannot come up with more original gameplay. They must beg and borrow off older games and still in the end give us the same old stuff just wrapped up in better graphics and a little less downtime.

This game is a blatant rip off of EQ and AC ,it takes the the better elements of these two games and came up with a system that does the following.

1) the downtime in this game is very low .Compared to EQ it is a breath of fresh air.Compared to AO it is definately longer but still low.

2)The game allows for soloing far more than EQ ever did but has made grouping much better experience wise.

3)Game took experience penalty and made it worse by making you spend money on constitution points which as you level to higher levels become a horrible pain. The good thing is you never lose a level but you still need certain classes to Rez you a feature from EQ that was much detested and brought to DAoC.

4)The game has some interesting moves one can execute called styles in battle but as you level you will realise you stick to a couple and let the others slide as the endurance is one big issue in the game and using too many styles deplete it.So basically you end up hitting a few hot buttons for variation in gameplay.

5) Graphics for a game released when graphic engines these days can handle such beauty as AO has shown is quite lousy just passable definately better than EQ but surely that is not a standard to aspire to.

6)The water surfaces look like a horrible science experiments gone wrong and swimming well forget that ,you have no option for underwater exploration and hence no excitement of drowning.

7)There is no sense of excitement and I left the game even before beta ended and 2 weeks later can honestly say I do not miss it because I could not get into the groove. The game could not hold my attention,it lacked something I cannot but simply say was innovative gameplay and exciting effects.I found after playing close to 20 classes the game was nowhere as engrossing as EQ or AO was.AO even with all its bugs managed to hold my attention far longer than this game.

8) Game companies should realise that gamers want more than rehashed gameplay with nothing but hours of levelling to look forward to.The problem is furthur compounded by as of yet succesfully tested Realm versus Realm aspect which is what all this levelling is building up to.At least in EQ you could graduate to killing beast of awesome power but what do we look forward to here but some poorly organized RvR which is still in its infancy since that aspect was easily interupted by a few people who refused to play by the rules.

For me this game is nothing at all to write home about let alone spend money on except if you want something to entertain you for a couple of months .

Dark Age of Camelot (do not buy)

After playing since beta I can easily say that this game was the most awaited in a along time AND the biggest dissapointment.

Incredibly poor customer service, realm inbalances and a horribly long grind to level your characters = a game better left on the shelf.

Save Your Money and Buy EQ

I baught this game before I baught EQ because a friend said that is was supposed to be better. When I baught it, I found out that it had many cons.
1. If your graphics card has not been updated, this game will not perform well for you.
2. I understand that an online RPG game is bound to have problems, but they could atleast have a decent Tech Support center, i've waited weeks for help before.
3. The graphics are nice, but the game does not have variety.

-I'd reccommend going to EQ first. I made the switch after a month of playing DAoC. I am sure that I made the right choice.

Utter disaster...

Having no mention of the monthly fee was bad enough (I now see that it has been added to the end of the description) but even if this game were free, it still would disappoint. My system easily exceeds the minimum requirements yet I have been unable to play for more than a minute before locking up or simply crashing. The concept is great and I'm sure there are those out there successfully enjoying the game, but for me (and I'm sure many like me) it has been a disaster. Stay away until the necessary improvements are made. Now if only I hadn't given it as a gift!

I have played this game for a month on and off trying to give it a chance but all i can say is this game is soooo poorly made. If you want an rpg go to EQ with the new expantion out EQ leaves this game lying in the dirt it came from.

I bought this game for my teenage son thinking it would be great hours of fun,I was even forewarned about the monthly charge which I thought extreme, and much to my dismay the game continuously freezes the computer and disconnects, what a waste of [price],I'm really disappointed and would gladly sell this game in a heartbeat to anyone,

Wow! Incredible game!

It probably isn't as good as EQ is now, but hey this is the first installment of a great game. I held off purchasing this title because of previous bad experiences, AO anyone?, but after hearing about how smooth the launch went, I am disappointed I didn't buy sooner.

I have experienced no bugs or technical difficulties in playing the game and I find it very enjoyable, the community seems very friendly, and the game is engrossing.

If you like this type of game, BUY IT NOW!!!

Very boring, Pvp is very unbalanced

This game in my opinion is terrible. Though I must admit it did have probably the most stable MMORPG launch of all time, that still doesnt fix the actual problems with the game. First off leveling in the game is rather easy, and I'm sure there already people that have achieved level 50. Second, pvp is supposed to be a big deal in the game, but because the classes are so unbalanced it makes most pvp battles unfair. The game also lacks in visual quality of the graphics. Yes the graphics are nice, but they definitely do not compare to Anarchy Online's graphics. This is just a wanna be Everquest, that failed in my opinion. If you want a good MMORPG I suggest Anarchy Online or Everquest.

Dull Dull Dull

Im an EQ player. Thought I'd give this a shot as some of my friends on EQ recommended it to me.
Visually it is magnificent. other than that the game is as interesting to me as watching Ice melt. they have taken all the things people used to complain about in Everquest and gotten rid of them, however the didnt Include the things that make EQ interesting. Multiple areas to adventure in and different foes in different areas. In DAoC travel the world and encounter basically the same creatures you fought when you were on the other side of the world.

The most fun I had in DAoC was pressing the "Delete Account" button
