Wow, I just spent my last 8 hours on my computer. (But that was only playing Diablo) I have had this game for a while, about 4 months, and now it is just getting better. Now that Blizzard is Taking care of the hackers (about 100,000) the gameplay has only been enhanced. I think that anyone who buys this game will be more than satisfied with their purchase and will be dying for the next Diablo game coming out(If there will be one). This is the best computer game I have EVER played and I think everyone will enjoy it.

Mostly technical

It's a great game! I started with the original Diablo in the 90's but just got back into Diablo II after playing it at a relative's house. She had the Expansion Pack so I got that, and it's much better than Diablo II alone. I'm only on the 2nd set so I'm not very good yet, and the other reviewers have been very helpful. I did notice one thing: in Diablo II you can copy the play CD, which I did to protect the original, since you have to leave that in your CD drive to play. In the expansion There is only one CD and you need to leave it in your drive instead on the Diablo II play CD. You can copy the CD, and all the files that show up on the original will be copied, but the copied CD won't work to play the game. I'm sure that's to keep people from using the same copy of the expansion on more than one computer, but it does subject the CD to wear and possible destruction. Otherwise I'm completely satisfied so far. I had one glitch: in Act 2 the computer malfunctioned and was unable to get to Canyon of the Magi because I never reached the Summoner. I found out that by saving and exiting, then going back in to the Arcane Sanctuary via the waypoint I could find and kill the Summoner and continue the game.

Ohh Boy..here we go again!

The expansion of D2 rocks. 2 new characters which are really fresh and have skills that are very creative. Playing all over again is still a lot of fun. The cinematic entering the V Act is very cool. Baal is a gas. Just remember to hit cancel when prompted for the cinematic disk (the expansion doesn't have one) and you will get the new one.

The new monsters are quite fun too. I have only completed the first 2 quests so I can only provide limited comments, but the design is very good. Lots of Uuuuu's and Ahssss's. Watch out for new weapons these new demons have. Some can catch you unaware.

The new 800X600 resolution is less than expected, as you obviously see your character (and everything else) much smaller. Seems the graphic in the regular resolution to be better than before.

Last but not least, the new stash size and new items (specially those specific to a particular character) are a real surprise. Its back to the books as these are far more sophisticated than before. I am totally adicted to the item search, find and trade/collect, and I'm afraid this will get worse (gee I need to get some sleep!)

Bear in mind that if you loaded the 1.08 patch and then later installed LOD, your characters created in 1.08 will not show as the game comes in 1.07 version. If you connect to Battle net you will be automatically updated. The old characters are all compatible with the 1.08, but its a one way conversion to play with them in LOD. (Good idea is to save a copy of the save folder from the game before you set out.

I have the beta (lucky me) and it kicks ... . My only complaint is that it is almost the same except for a few minor (except for the two new characters and act 5) changes.

Like purchasing a new Game.

The Expansion was like purchasing a new Game that I didn't have to learn to play from the beginning. The many improvements made playing it alot more pleasureable.

This is one of those games you find slowly taking over your life. This game is the most addictive game i have ever played. I have had it since it first came out and i still play it today. You really need to buy this one, i know many people that try and get games used and or cheap/free if you know what i mean. Well this games highest perk is its online play that works well even with a slow connection. It requires individual keys to access the online play and they key is user specific so if you get it used or off of some1 else your not getting a unique code and you cant play online. GET this game. 10 oout of 5 stars! fantastic!

An extremely great expansion pack

This expansion pack is excellent. The 2 new character classes (Assassin and Druid) are great, and the improvements to the original classes and other elements of the game are mostly good, some of them are kinda annoying (some unique monsters being immune to physical damage). But other than that, I highly recommend this pack to any Diablo 2 player.

cut lord of destruction some slack

That guy from texas who gave it three stars is an [...]. He is mad about the 1.08 patch because its unfair to people who don't have the expansion and i can kind of see his point. But he needs to realize that he will not be happy either way. If he had the expansion he would complain about how all the monsters are to easy and the game is no longer fun. So i think Blizzard was right to make that patch.

But anyway, Lord of destruction is a big improvement over the first for a couple of reasons. One being the options you have for your mercenary helper guy/girl. in the original you coudn't do anything and it wasn't worth it. But now thanks to the Expansion you can heal, give weapons and armor, even resurrect your helper which I think is great! The second good thing over the oringinal is, jewels and runes. They are great! They help so much and give alot of cool new magic to your socketed items. Last and not least is the new characters. Some argue that the price is to much for just two more characters and one more act and i admit the the last act did kind of [stink], except for baal (final boss). but i have come to love the assasain to much to go back to regular old necromancer, trust me i've tried. as for the druid i like him a great deal too! His spells are top notch.

So if you want to stay in the past and not do anything with your life and your money (like texas boy)then please don't buy the expansion and don't complain about it either. But if you like the oringinal and think your missing something in your life then go out and buy this game. better to spend it on this then on a dumb game like desperados which turned out to really, really [stink].

Good, addictive game

The thing about diablo 2 is that it is one of the best, and most addictive, games ever. You can say all you want about how it is all hack and slash and repeats and the bad graphics, but when it comes down to the enjoyment of the gamer, this is the game. I recieved this game 3 years ago, and today, I still play it over new games that have been very highly rated. I recently recieved Tony Hawk Underground, Return of the King, Eye Toy, and NBA Street vol. 2, and yet this was the game which I was playing the next day, trying to get better. Diablo has kept my attention so long for many reasons. First is the incredibly addictve gameplay No matter how good you are, you can always get better, and this creates a constent need to get better. Whether it's stats, skills, or weapons, there is always an improvment to get. The quests are simply a side thought, but they are still helpful. And the hacking just adds on to the fun, because even though it is fun to not cheat, sometimes you just want to go out and destroy all those characters that are giving you so much trouble in the real game. Overall, great game, so don't get it if you want to (your loss), but if you do consider it, stop looking at all the technical stuff and just buy it. The technical stuff tells you nothing, but just playing this game is as fun as a videogame will get.

Good game but...

This is a really great game, you really love seeing your character get stronger and stronger. However this review is about the BAD things about this game. I only have a few problems with this game. 1. The battling is somewhat uneventfull, as in, if you're not using magic it's just chop chop chop, then the guy jumps in the air and dies. 2. After a while this game gets eXtremely boring, continuously chopping and hacking away at random things, running out of stanama reguarly, nothing much happens, not including the videos. The story is probably what makes up this game, but hey, it's still good!
