Great game, but could use a little work.

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 3 / 3

I very much enjoyed this game. The play is exceptional and the wide variety of weapons is great. The "light fifty" is the best. I would have given the game five stars, but the AI's ability to see you no matter where you go is a bit frustrating. I don't see any possible way that a mission can be completed in complete stealth. The Iraqi soldiers could be five miles away and they are able to determine who you are.

Finally, as another reviewer said, the game designers managed to pull out a game that doesnt base war on WW2 nor a war which was made up by the developers such as Dropzone: United Peace Force. The game allows you to drive several real-life U.S military vechiles and let's you use a variety of real-life weapons. The game's story is based as it was in real life! The locations start from Al-Khafji in Saudia all the way to Baghdad, Iraq.

The Poor Man's SOCOM

Are you kidding me? How can anybody give this thin, underdeveloped cartoon of a game 5 stars? I read all the glowing reviews here on Amazon and, being a hardcore SOCOM fan, was conviced that I'd have a great time playing Conflict: Desert Storm. Oh boy. My disappointment began as soon as the title screen appeared, followed by a truly pathetic cut-scene. It's like the game's designers haven't played anything since Commodore 64! The graphics are as bland as a coloring-book and the levels are as exciting as Al Gore. Yuck, what a complete waste of money. I was fortunate enough, though, to trade this game in for Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell and I couldn't be happier. Splinter Cell is everything that C:DS isn't, IT'S FUN!

Please, don't be fooled. Rent C:DS before you even think about buying it. And that goes for it's sequel, too. I'm never going to buy anything else from Gotham Games.

PS, I do have to admit that the drill sgts were amusing to listen to, but even they could have been improved. Why not get R. Lee Ermey to do the job? His voice alone could have blown the doors off this game.

This Game Is The Best War Game ever!!!!!!!!

This Is A great game first off the graphics are great also the 2 player Cooap-Mode is really cool to work with a friend to beat the game. Also You can Get into Vehicles so if you are in a jeep one person drives one person does nothing one person fires the machine gun and one person fires the rocket launcher!!!! also if you are playing a 1-player campaign then you controal 4 people(once you find them all levels 1-3)
This game is GREAT you should defantily Get This Game

GOOD GAME BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 2 / 2

this was a great concept for a game that had potential to be a playstation classic. However gotham games could have done a much better job. The game was good dont get me wrong but it could have been better. There are a few things wrong with this game. first, the controls are very awkward and are very different compared to other playstation games. you have to use the l3 and r3 buttons to maneuver and r1 is the shoot button. the controls take getting used to. However, I did get the hang of it quickly. Another problem I had was the cut scenes. The cut scenes were lame and the graphics werent any better than when I was playing the game. In addition, when I read that you could play as americans or the british I thought that was cool. However, I discovered later that the only difference between the americans and the british is the accent they have when they speak. The names of the soldiers are even the same. Also they dont use Saddam Husseins name in the game. They give him a fake name.
However, as I mentioned this game has some good qualities. The missions are intense its always fun shooting up iraqis. the missions also go along with the actual events of Desert Storm.
I would recommend this game to someone despite the flaws that the game has.

An Army of Four

Some play is a little choppy, and that's the only thing wrong with this game in my opion. The 5 star rating is for fun and realism (not that I fought in battle). If you play this game to it's full potential using all it's features and strategy... it really makes you FEEL like you're part of a real squad and you personally get hooked with each individual character and his special trait. To lose a character and have him replaced by a rookie has mixed emotions: 1)you have this green new guy who's gonna just walk in and replace your fallen comrad. 2)you feel sorry for the new guy and have to protect him, yet give him some real experience. Thing is... watch each others back and complete a mission without losing anyone. When I play this game it makes me feel part of a real team and have LOTS MORE RESPECT for the REAL boys out there fighting so that I can sit safe and comfortably playing this game.

Probably the best conflict game

This game is long and I did not complete it in 3 days like most games. I have played Conflict vietnam and it's the same game again but with a few things added and it's set in jungle. This game is hard at first then you get the hang of it, I played the demo and I was so addicted when crawling through the bushes to be not seen by a tank.
I remember on the demo level(Where in the cut scene Foley tried blowing up the bridge with c4 and got caught...)when I did not know how to control your friend so when I rescued Foley I kept switching to his character and did not know to order him to follow me, so my point is it seems complicating at first with the open maps that seemed big...
Conflict Desert Storm 2 is a very short game and you'll be surprised if you played it when the credits start.

This game is sweet

I think this game is truly better than ghost recon, the views and camra angles are prefect and the way to move your troops is great, as in any game multiplayer co op mode is really fun to play with a partner GET THIS ONE

The Worst Game Ever. Avoid it like the plague

I was in the mood for a change of pace from first person shooters, so I rented Conflict desert Storm thinking there might be a little more strategy involved. Much to my dismay, this has turned out to be the worst game I have ever played. The graphics are pitiful and the animation is choppy, the load times are unforgivably long, the controls are a joke, the combat is just unbearably terrible, and, basically, this game is just terrible. I only rented it, and I felt like I had been [taken]. I have a suspicion that this game was just a rush job made for no other purpose than to shamefully cash in on the recent hype surrounding another war with Iraq.

It depends on who you are

This game is more of a strategic game if anything. After the first 2 missions you get all 4 guys in your team. The basic gist of the game is to utilize all of your guys special traits and [defeat] the enemy. There are basically two ways to do it, silently or just straight out fight them. I always like the straight out fight but unlike first person shooters you can't charge the enemy, you let the enemy come to you and then [defeat]them.

Something of caution, you control all the guys on your team. When your not controling them they will [defeat] the enemy on their own.

I recomend this game, it was fun.
