Rent it

I picked this game to rent over Harry Potter: SS and The Two Towers. I got it as a supplement to SOCOM because my mommy won't let me get M rated games. Me and my brother played the Awesome Co-op mode together. It ws fun for the first two days, but got boring and repetive after that. We ended up playing it though and beating it, which must say something for the game. But it was really short. NO REPLAY VALUE! You can't go back and replay the missions you beat. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! Rent it. You can most likely beat it in 3-5 days depending on how much you play it.

before i bought this game i had rented socom and thought that game was awsome. now that i have Conflict: Desert Storm i can tell that i was wrong. this game, i think is much better than socom. you can switch throughout your special forces squad quickly and easily, giving you different angles and vantage points on your enemy as well as allowing you to act as your other squad members. if one of your team members is shot and unconcious you can still heal them with medipacks. you can also give your teamates numerous commands.the weapons and equiptment are great, ranging anywhere from normal pistols to laser designaters. multiplayer and single player missions are very exciting. the graphics in the game are fair as well as the controls. i had hoped there would be more missions and the game is also lacking the online feature which would have givin it a fifth star. overall, i believe this game deserves four stars.

this is a really sweet ass game. the grapfics are good, the sound is good,so that means the game is good. they have lots of diffre4nt wepons you can pick up during the game and alot of gagets you can use. the best part of the game is multiplayer. you can go co-op with up to 4 people. this is one of the best games for ps2 ever made. BUY IT NOW OR BE SORRY.

It could be a lot better.

The game is good in one way. That is the simulation, it simulates real combat warfare. Other than that, the controls are scattered and hard to maneuver around on the controller. The game is very slow in its reponse system The targeting system is poor and causes you to shoot at walls, rocks, houses...etc. This is one game that you probably want to pass over ...

This game dies kneeling in front of SOCOM.

I wanna admit, this game is pretty good. I had a blast running through the streets of the middle east on level 2, shooting tanks and cutting the throats of soldiers. But this game just... only a couple of levels are actually fun. Level 2 and 3 are the ones you will like. Otherwise, why bother? Here's the thing. ... If you want a decent war game that's not crushingly difficult, get this. [other games are] really hard... Any way that's not what I'm here to talk about.

GRAPHICS:
I was truly baffled by the fact that the graphics are hardly PS1 quality. It's not the graphics themselves... I mean, the environments were done alright I guess but it was no creativity making it repetitive by making nearly every single level a deserted sandy wasteland. But it's the frame rate that bothered me. This game has only about 10- 20 framed per second, most likely about ten. When I move, you can actually SEE each individual frame. It is not smooth at all. Not only are the environments bland but you will think there is something wrong with your PS2 when you see this frame rate.

Sound:
Okay, sound is not terrible. Bullets flying, you hear them, you hear the moaning of dying teammates, but my complaint is the music. The music is beyond horrible- it doesn't fit the theme of war at all. In [other games], the music makes you feel like you're there (along with the smooth frame rate.) But this music is horrible... I mean, when the mission is over, the music when you see the character stats is so unbelievably stupid that if somebody comes, you want to turn the game off QUICKLY.

Gameplay:
Here is why I gave the game three stars instead of one. The game is actually pretty fun. ... And that's what counts right? But I would like to say that aiming is atrocious. It's so bad its not good. Your crosshairs look more like a banana than a target. And even in first person mode, when the crosshairs turn red showing that an enemy is there, and you shoot a few times... how come it doesn't hit him? Honestly it doesn't. Even when the crosshairs are white it may actually shoot him instead! The autoaim is decent... well... you will have to waste a lot of bullets trying to hit the guys. But no real gameplay complaints besides that.

Artificial Intelligence:
Bad. Just bad. Not only are the enemies deadly accurate from far away when you can't even shoot them that far, but they are plain stupid! When a guy is in front of you he will take 5 seconds to lean down, get out his gun, load it, then shoot you. Only by then he is dead. But usually the enemies shoot from far away and hit you! And what's with the tank? The rocket launchers are beyond unfair. And also, when you are cycling through your inventory, enemies still shoot you! YOu cant cycle through and get the right item without being hit!

Multiplayer:
This is a strong part. Playing with a friend is actually... well... fun! You can even kill each other! With knives!

Story: Don't go there there basically isn't one.

Replay: Uh, no.

IF YOU HATE GAMeS THAT ARE REPETITIVE, STAY AWAY, STAY FAAAAARRRR AWAAAAAY.

Overall, its an okay game. ...

GRAPHICS: 6 of 10
FRAME RATE: 2 of 10
GAMEPLAY: 7 of 10
Multiplayer: 7 of 10
Sound: 6 of 10
Replay: 5 of 10. ...

Close but no candy!

Conflict:Desert Storm is not really the best choice for a war game whether you got XBox,PS2 or even GameCube.
Its quite sloppy and when you are not playing your other 3 teammates they don`t even defend themselves unless the soldier you are playing tells them to.
The graphic`s are quite sloppy and so are the enemies.
You can pick which four soldiers you wish to contol British SAS or U.S Delta Force soldiers-the only difference is the accents and the members of SAS look different to their American counterparts they still have the same names though-I never play the SAS team as i don`t like any of the characters aprt from the main commander.
I don`t really like this game, nor did ni like DSII-i enjoyed C:Vietnam because it was more adventurous as its teh jungle-But Glabal Terror is teh best with its super A.I.
I reccomend Conflict 4(Global Terror) the most as its just so m,uch more better than the first three games.

But the Conflict series are still at the bottom of my "faverite Military Strategy games" as there is so much better ones out there-Especcialy Xbox, but PS2 and GC too.
If you are looking for a great Military strategy series i would reccomend SOCOM,Ghost Recon,Rainbow Six,Brothers In Arms or more assoaciated by the [U.S.]Army there is "America`s Army:Rise of a Soldier" and "Full Spectrum Warrior".
Full Spectrum warrior(FSW) is THE best od ANY tactical shooter i`ve played(the ones i mentioned are only 40% of the ones i have played) but its not the most action but is the most strategic.
FSW is 99% better than Conflict-that 1% will be that in Conflict you can pick between SAS and DELTA Force!
But Conflict is a desent set of games except the damn desert Storm games-still have a place in my collection of War/Mil Strtegy games.
I guess i am not a huge fan of the Gulf war.

Oh and when i said i reccomended Conflict-i excluded the DS games.

pretty good game overall.

this is not as bad of a game as some on here make it sound like.
i have this and rainbow 6 lockdown- this is way better than lockdown.
i never have a problem with my guys not defending themselves- if anything- i scout ahead as the sniper sometimes and have them all wait behind so i can have more fun. squad based controls are simple.
i only play in single player, it has plenty of missions,i've had it for a long time, and never played it much- lately i've played almost all the way through it- the latter missions can be challenging.

COOL AWESOME

1st this game and SOCOM are the best combat simulating games out in the tradition of rogue spear

2nd people have used this review area for their platform to voice their views on war with Iraq. I'm a soon to be Ranger, and it actualy hurts/disgust me to hear people say we need to avoid war at any cost, and not because I'm an action junkie, want to go to war or something along those lines but because I do want peace, and I want to be able to see my kid reach 13 and sometimes war is the only way to make that possible because if you take time to find out the facts (instead of just watching the news which from experience is wrong 70% of the time in their zeal to break the story first without getting complete intel) and review Iraq's pass military/terrorist activities the picture is clearly painted that saddam does have the will to use his weapons, if he used them on his own people how much more the possibility of use on a nation he has open hostility towards, and they have all the weapons they need (except maybe a nuke or two and that's even debatable) to attack any country in the world, they only lack the means of delivery which CAN and WILL be developed in 3-5 yrs years, read "janes defense weekly" sometime, I mean the chip in the old playstations that make the AI possible are modified version of the chips in missle guidance systems (and I do mean missles there is a difference between missle and bomb) so if the inspections do not work and you love peace and your way of life, please remember the men dying just to keep saddam from shoving a smallpox laiden war head up YOUR rectum because it might cause you to have a bad day
