Final Fantasy 9 - Intro to Playstation Online

Final Fantasy finally goes back to the fantasy aspect of the game! The neo-future VII and VIII were great, but its nice to be back to the basics. And the playonline.com strtegy guide helps introduce online gaming.

Final Fantasy 9

Final Fantasy IV is one of the best RPG's I've played in 2 years. Out of the 4 Final Fantasy games I've played, this one is easily the best. Final Fantasy IV has childish looking characters, but the backrounds are beautiful. 4 discs mean a lot of playing, but all of the discs are action packed and sometimes humorous. Definatly a game to buy.

lives up to it's predicesors

Great characters, great system, hilarious, nice love story, all those things that make final fantasy great. My only gripe is that it's way too easy... but it's still worth owning most definately! GET IT NOW, ABANDON YOUR FAMILIES!! ;)

The Final Fantasy for PS one

All good things come to an end. However, it doesn't look like the Final Fantasy steamroller is gonna stop anytime soon. The last FF game for the original PlayStation is a truly stellar one.

The story revolves around a pirate/thespian who kidnaps a princess (go figure) who actually WANTS to be captured, a knight of the royal family who follows the princess Garnet everywhere, and a black mage which looks a little like Orko from the old He-Man cartoons. All the goodies are here: MPs, spells, summons (YES!), and of course, more monsters than you could shake a stick at. If you've played and enjoyed the other games in this series, you'll get to like this one immediately. The newest additions include doing away with Save Points (you gotta find a Mog to save your progress. If you don't know what a Mog is, shame on you.)

The other changes include the return of the Limit Break meter (called the "trance" meter here) and the all-new ATE (Active Time Event) where you can see what two or more different characters are doing at the exact same time as you. Your choices in the game influence these characters later on. Cool, huh? Okay, let's do the usual run-down:

Graphics -5 stars- the best on PlayStation, especially with the CG cutscenes. Sweet magic attacks.

Sound- 5 stars- everything's there, including some music from FF 7 & 8. Gotta love it.

Control- 5 stars- let's face it: the controls are always the same, but it's a good thing here.

Fun-ocity- 5 stars- Oh yeah, you're gonna like this one. Plan on losing touch with a few loved ones (like your family, boyfriend/girlfriend, family pet) before you're done with this one.

OVERALL: 5 Stars. For the FINAL Final Fantasy for PlayStation 1, what a way to go. Pick this one up if you are a fan of games in particular.

Another masterpiece from Squaresoft..

Final Fantasy IX is a great game. I'm halfway through the Japanese version of the game and can't stop playing!! It has an easy interface and the graphics are unbelievable. The in-game animations are fantastic. And the characters are so lovable.. all of them!

If you've played Final Fantasy VII and loved it(of course) this game is for YOU. Nothing is going to let you down. The gameplay, story, and graphics are at least on par or better.

Everyone should try this game. YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!

Entertaining

Final Fantasy 9 is definitely a fun game. It's a little more lighthearted than the only other FF game I've played, 7, and maybe not as good (though, since 7, have there been any Final Fantasies as good?). It's pretty whimsical, moderately easy, and entertaining. Also, there are a lot of side-quests and mini-games if you get bored with the main plot.

Amazing

The game is just amazing. The story line runs along very smoothly and the ATB system is not a hard thing to learn. It looks childish in the start due to the fact the characters look short and act a little immature, but it is a great game recommended to everyone. You shouldn't be disappointed.

Great old school gaming

As a person who has played Final fantasy since the original way back when, I personally liked IX because it takes the franchise back to its roots. It has a more traditional storyline and battle system. This scaling back is an overall theme for IX. Unlike its two predescessors, IX is a simple fun adventure.

Great graphics for its time, though its definately showing its age. IX definatley has some of the more interesting character designs. Vivi, the black mage, is definately my favorite. Character design has been a bit of an issue for some gamers, as they expect seriousness like what was seen in VII an VIII. IX breaks with that with its cartoonishness. Personally I found that refreshing.

If you are a fan of FFIV and FFVI, please pick this up.

This was a great game and took the Final Fantasy series in a different direction than recent games along the series. The game feels (and looks, without the pixelation) like the first few FF games.

FFIX for the playstation 1

As with all FF games, FFIX provides hours and hours of game play. Although the replay value is not so high (as the story is linear), the game itself takes a very long time to beat. The world map feature in this is game is really where its at. When you set out to explore the continents, the game looses its linear feel (which is a good thing in my opinion). The graphics in this game are bar none - AMAZING for the playstation 1, and no, not just the pre rendered cinematics. This entire game looks amazing, and plays the same. If you like RPGs, this is a must have.
