I miss Naughty Dog :/

Being a huge fan of Crash and the Naughty Dog team, I was really hoping that Talltails would do Crash good when they were doing this game.

They failed, miserably.

I'm a big peeved that EGM and a few other mags were giving this anywhere from a 8-10 rating, because this game is absolutely ridiculous. The boards are not challanging, it feels like ND only ripped off and the load times between the sessions? Oh man, that ALONE kills me is the loading times. I calculated the following occured:

1. Game Loads (1-1.5 minutes)

2. You go to the first section and choose the first entrance to a world

3. Game loads (1-1.5 minutes)

4. Play the puzzle (usually no more than 90 seconds)

5. Go back to the Main Screen

6. Game loads (1-1.5 minutes)

7. Repeat process

For the PS2 architecture, this is just really really insulting to have to wait that kind of time for the game to load and especially since it seems the engine they are using is the one based off of Naugthy Dogs, so there shouldn't really have been much modification other than coding for visual stuff. I'm horribly horribly disappointed in this game and disappointed at all the CB players who posted to message boards at IGN and other websites claming it's 'worth the wait', because really, I want to know what drugs they are taking.

This game is shoddy and should have never been released. You are better off playing earlier versions of CB than this tripe.

Crash is back!WITHOUT NAUGHTY DOG! IN THIS GAME:a new character, over 40 stages, 14 bosses(5 bosses,9 mini bosses), 4 Powerful Dangerous Elemental Masks, and...... DUH! CORTEX LOSER.

Don't get in crash's way, you might get spun!

Crash 5 Load Times

The game looks good but the load times really take away from the game. It takes well over a minute for some of the levels to load. If you are going for the hard path gem and you lose a life before getting there you have to exit the level, wait for two minutes...., re-enter the level, wait for another two minutes.... how boring is that? You spend four minutes getting into a level that doesn't take that long to finish. The graphics look good and there are some really neat levels in this release.

I like the game I just hate the load times.

Fun, but loading times are frustrating

Overall, The Wrath of Cortex is fun, colorful, and creative. Unfortunately, it seems to be constantly in "load" mode. I almost questioned whether it was just my disk that was like that because the loading went on forever. Aside from the constant loading (loading in the beginning, loading at each level...), the game is very entertaining and fun. I have always been a big fan of the Crash games. My favorite series of adventure games to date.

Definitely rent before you buy

Games, like every form of entertainment, are subjective so I would never tell anyone not to at least try something out. I came really close this time. Lets start with the load time--this practically cripples the game and makes the whole experience annoying. The graphics, though not a big deal since really this game is for those into the CB series, did not impress me. Movement of the characters has an annoyingly N64 like feel to it. This was my second attempt at getting into the CB series and I think it will be my last. Those into the series, which I am not, may find something appealing about it although I'm not sure what.

A huge disappointment.

Anyone remember back when Chuck Jones had created the successful "Road Runner" cartoons for WB, then WB shut down the studio... and later on, WB changed their minds, decided that they wanted more "Road Runner" cartoons after all... and got other artists to do them other than Chuck Jones himself? Remember how flat and terrible those new ones were compared to the original classics?

Longtime fans of "Crash Bandicoot" will experience the same problem here.

While it's true that the game is impressive on a technical level, it falls on its face concerning the actual character animation. The most appealing part of the Crash games, the wonderful cartoon visuals, look simply awful. Crash moves stiffly now and has none of the charm and charismatic appeal he showed in the earlier games. I swear, he looks and moves like a hunchback! Also, the facial expressions are stiff, his actions and movements are puppetish "just put him through the motions" mechanics, and he simply doesn't "live". The other characters are all animated the same way, and it kills the visual appeal.

I won't complain about the obvious "loading time" problem, as it's already been discussed.

As for the gameplay, while it would have been fun even though it's "same old, same old" if the animation was designed better, coupled with crude animation its lifeless.

All is not lost, however--the wonderful Game Boy Advance title more than makes up for this mishap. But you'll most likely want to skip the PS2 version. Wait for the next one and see what happens to the concept then, and hope...

Loading time is a nightmare

I hate this game! It is fun to play but not worth the loading time. After a while the sound that it makes loading gets to your nerves. I can stand it anymore. Too bad I can't return this one.
I will try to exchange it

Programming at its worst

I am a huge fan of the Crash series. However, this latest installment created by "Traveller's Tales" rather than "Naughty Dog" left a LOT to be desired. Mainly the unacceptable amount of time spent staring at "LOADING" on your screen. In the first 15 minutes of play, I spent MORE THAN HALF of my time waiting for the game to load. INEXCUSEABLE! I don't know if this is their first game for the PS2 platform and they didn't know what they were doing or what, but I'll not blindly buy another title from them again without renting first. Get "Jak and Daxter" instead.

Crash Bandicoot isn't like it used to be.

The loading times are way to long and it doesn't play like it used to. Where's Naughty Dog? The bosses are way to hard.

This is a great addition to the other Crash Bandicoot Playstation games! My daughter (age 9) loves the game and so do I. We just bought a PS2 and this was the first game we purchased. It has great graphics, levels are great, it's an all around good game! Just shop around on the prices. We say it at a national store for one price and then at another national store for less money so it's best to shop around before spending a ton of money on this or any other PS2 game! Amazon has a great price for this game!! Much less than the first national store!! So if you want to wait for shipping your best bet is Amazon.com, but since my daughter wanted it right there and then, we just purchased it. Definately shop around!

If you find a great deal on the game, I would highly recommend you purchase it and enjoy the fun!
