PS2 opens up great oportunities.

I think that putting hl on the PS2 is a great idea! Not only will it be nice to use a Ps2 controller instead of a key board but the graphics are gunna be GREAT! Plus this gives people without a computer the chance to play, and renting it at the video store is good too. Having it on a popular video game system will increase hl's popularity.

It's all around a good thing!

(... EGM) gave this game a silver award, which means it's pretty damn good, and the PC community, well.....we don't need to get into how they heralded this game! Pretty much, you need to play it. I have this game for my PC, and I absolutely love it. It's one of my favorite FPS's without a doubt, up there with Unreal Tourney, Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, and Quake 2. Doesn't really matter what system you get it for. Basically, if you get the PS2 one, you'll get better graphics, and that 2 player decay mode thinger. If you get the PC one, you'll pay (...)less, you'll get pretty (bad)graphics, but there'll be a full, online multiplayer mode to keep you busy (arguably better than Decay). In addition to that, if you get the PC one, you can download all the mods (Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat, etc.) for free.

Hello. i got the game and yes it is like 12 days sience i last wrote! the games awesome. Co-op great and the 1 player is good.in the one player you never know what is around the next corner!its a must buy for every1. there are 3 things i didnt like:

1. you have to wait, and wait, and wait. and wait until you finally get to play. the intro on the train is dragged out for a llllloooooooonnnnngggggggg time and ther IS NO WAY TO SKIP IT!

2.the co-op follows the 1 player hame pretty closly.

3. almost all the scientests look the same! and it drives me insane when u get scientists to follow you and then they say "I'm not going any further Gordon".

Overall: GREAT GAME. BUY IT

That REALLY hurt!!! Who Disses Half-Life? Honestly...

Let ME SET SOMETHING STRAIGHT: Half-Life does NOT .... That is like saying you hate oxygen. People need to learn that just because this is on the Playstation 2, don't hate it. That reminds me of ... Nintendo fans that hate everything but Nintendo products. It's agrivating. I have both the PC and PS2 Versions, and I'd have to say that the PS2 version is the dominent one. First off, the graphics. I won't go into that because everyone has already mentioned it 500 times, but I will say this; they are ... AWESOME! second off, even though there are less cheat codes on the Ps2 than PC, I think Half-Life on PS2 has much, much cooler ones; for example, does anyone like MAX PAYNE's slow-mo feature? Try that on HALF-LIFE!!! you can find the code at various cheat sites. Also, have you ever wanted what it would be like to be one of those aliens? Now you can be! I know someone with every minute of their lives devoted to computers could probably duplicate all the codes onto a PC Half-Life MOD,but why waste the time when it's so easy to just buy it with this little package? Only 20 bucks more than the PC version (and I know anyone reading this has that much money to spare)which is ... bucks, this is a fairly ... and wonderful package to buy. Did I mention the Co-op mode? Hey... all you who hate it... LIGHTEN UP! I find that the ability to work together with a friend through a full-version game (ONLY INCLUDED ON THE PS2 VERSION) is pretty dang sweet. And how good does a deathmatch using the half-life engine (also on Ps2 version and not PC) have to be? "Oh,whaaah, it's only two players..." ... Two players is fine. All new levels, plenty of graphical touch-ups, fully customizable controls, USB compatibility (for that dawg who can't leave the keyboard vibe)and everything but the kitchen sink make this a wonderful little buy to get your mojo workin! (And don't worry about that ... who plays with his 'magic' card collection who tells you it ...; go buy it. Now.

Good but Extremely Hard to Beat

I have Never Played this game on the computer but i've seen my best friend play it Several Times. My friend was really good at the game but told me that it was Extremely Hard to beat, only later did i realize what he meant by this. At the last level there is a huge alien that is Impossible to Kill. I don't think I know anyone that can get past the last level. Don't get me Wrong I think that half-life has great graphics and awesome gameplay but I don't think Anyone should get their hopes up about beating this game.

Great one-player mode, multiplayer is horrible

I had a great time fighting off aliens and soldiers because of the nice story ... but the multiplayer looks so rushed its like they let a bunch of monkeys work on it. I had no fun at all fighting my friends in this... get unreal tournament instead for a good multiplayer fragfest.

Half Life

HalfLife, the greatest First Person Shooter Ever, now in better graphics, with greater AI and an excellent Expansion game called Decay.

Although the Multiplayer is nothing compared to the PC bliss of HalfLife counterstrike, Your adventures in Black Mesa should be the most fun you've had for a long time with any scientist.

Guns, Puzzles, and Fun

It was 1 year ago my best friend told me about a FPS on the computer I should check out, this game, was Half-Life. I never thought that I would be one to purchase a shooting M rated game, but I did. Let me tell you know, Half-Life has to be one of the greatest FPS ever. Period.
As Gordan Freeman you are brought in after the administraitor was recomended you by your proffessor. You a simple Level 2 security and just a scientist (and some scientists have higher security access than you, wink wink).
When an experiment goes horribly wrong, your fault, the entire base is under attack by alien scum and a military death squad to "quite" the facility. It is your job to reach the surface.
I'm stopping there cuz I'll end up giving away the entire story.
Half-Life should be considered Action/Puzzle/FPS. There is alot of action, but to beat the baddy bosses, you need to use your head not your arsenal.
The co-op mode DECAY is mad fun, or in my opinion it is.
You play as either Gina Cross or Chorlette Green as you see the Half-Life story in there point of view. There are still puzzles, only they have been modified so 2 people HAVE to do them.
Finally Deathmatch. If you've played Half-Life online you probly won't like this deathmatch mode. Most of the maps aren't brand new and it only supports 2 players. (FYI, the split screen FPS action in Half-Life may make you dizzy.)
Sound is intact and the graphics are better than ever.
Last but not least, the controls. Turning a famous FPS from mouse and keyboard to Dullshock ain't a piece of cake, but Vavle pulled it off. If you love the M&K way, then use it, it's compatball, but the DS works great. This game is a MUST BUY for any FPS or Puzzle or Action gamer. Just a last tid bit, it's rated M so there is blood and gore.

For years I have been hearing good things about this game. The story is kind of plausible the action is good the graphics and the puzzles are all challenging. I didn't like the fact that the monsters never adapted or changed tactics, this made it easier to predict what they would do after a while. As for multiplayer there is nothing I can say to fault that.

This game improves on the original PC version in just about every way possible. The graphics are excellent and give a much sharper presentation than the original. The weapons are rendered accurately, though you'll miss the MP-5. The sounds are great and help to set the mood. Even better is th co-op Decay mode. This alone is worth the price of the game. You carry out missions that run along the main storyline. I can't really recomend the Head-To-Head (2-player) mode; I think it would've been better with online play. Or Counter-Strike.
