As good as a "platform" gets!

Get this game if you like platforms! I have the Dreamcast version, and now the Playstation 2 version which is even prettier, and promises even more excitement. If you haven't played Rayman, it's a must! The graphics are fantastic, the levels are unique, and you will not find anything that comes close to Sonic on Playstation 2 except the Rayman game.

The sound is good, the graphics are great, the gameplay is A plus! You can't go wrong. I've played for hours on my Dreamcast, and I come back for more whenever my newer games get boring. There are not many games that I do that with, except fighting and sports games that don't require a mission to be fun! Most games, once you are finished, you never take it out again. Try Rayman, and see the difference!

Not worth your money and time, buy something else!!

My intention with this review is to provide a rather different oppinion from most reviews here which qualify this game with an average 4.5 stars. I purchased this game for my son for two reasons: The price drop and the excellente reviews. I had no previous knowledge of Rayman, so I came unbiased to play it. I own 3 titles from Spyro the Dragon (games that have always satisfied my son) Jak and Daxter (PS2) and Crash Bandicoot "Wrath of Cortex" (Xbox), and my son plays all of them very regularly. I personally like these games very much so I expected Rayman 2 to be a great platformer game. Well, the thing is that my son played Rayman 2 for about an hour and a half and never picked it up again, I myself had to play it in order to understand what was wrong, but then I understood him.
First: the graphics, I have read in every review, even the newer ones, that the graphics are excellent and so on. Well, to my opinion the graphics can not even match Spyro 3 on the PSOne, they are graphics that are ok for an early launch on the PS2 but can not be compared to the possibilities that we are getting today, and I refer in this case to Jak and Daxter, where the developers (Naughty Dog) have done a beautiful job on this subject. Second: the voice acting, what can I say, I personally found the constant whispering (instead of real voices) very annoying, I even thought there was some kind of malfunction in the CD because of this, until I realized that those whispers WERE the voices. Third: the story, even though it is a typical platform story, there is no fun in it, I personally found it very boring, and I couldn't play it for more than half hour before I could fall asleep.
I truly wish that I could find something good about this game, but the truth is that I had to sell it one day after I got it, neither my son nor I liked this game. If you truly want to play a good platformer then go for Jak and Daxter, there is no comparison (great graphics, hilarious voice acting -even in spanish-, good story and lots of fun), or wait for the PS2 version of Spyro the dragon, or even play the PSOne versions of Spyro, I can assure you that you will have more fun with those than you will with Rayman 2. I was deceived by the price drop and the good reviews, and made a terrible mistake: wasted [money], so don't fall for the same, this game can only and hardly diserve the one star I gave it.

Wow. Don't make the same mistake I did.

I was looking for a Mario-type game for the PS2, and saw the excellent reviews people had given this game. Without even doing any research on this game, as I had never heard of it before, I went and ordered it based on what everyone else had said. What a mistake. I played it once, for about 45 minutes, and kept waiting for the gameplay to suddenly get a lot more exciting. It never did.

Sure, the graphics and sound are amazing, but the game is boring. There's not enough action. It has to do more with roaming around an environment and only occasionally encountering enemies than it has to do with constantly jumping over obstacles and the like. I'm 25 years old, so maybe I'm too old for this game, and it would be better received by a younger crowd, but it definitely failed to grip my attention and keep me engaged.

So, don't make the same mistake I did. If you're older than 15 or 20, you really might want to go out and rent this game before you buy it. It bums me out when people give bad reviews on games that I really like (like FIFA or Tekken, for example), but I was so disappointed by this game that I just had to share my opinion on it. It definitely is no Mario, I'll say that much.

A great Platform Game

I watched my wife play this game for hours on end, at first it seemed a bit slow, but it all made sense in the end. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars was that the game locked up on my wife at least 6 times. I called and e-mailed the company "Ubi-Soft", but all I got was an automated e-mail response and no satisfaction when I called.
All in all the game was great on many different levels, the graphics, sound just about everything was nearly flawless. You also get a bunch of little skill games so you can break it up a little.
I strongly suggest you get this game, I hope that if you do get this game you don't have the lock up problems we did.

Well worth the wait!

What a great game! I can't put the controller down! My wife has to shut the PS2 down just to get me to go to bed! Thought it might be a little boring (being rated "E") at first because I like the "BANG! BANG! Shoot'em Up" type of games but this game is great if you like levers, puzzles, and thinking type games. This game gives me hope after the LACK LUSTER launch titles Sony and friends gave us. The graphics are outstanding ofcourse, but the game play is EXCELLENT! The controlls are easy and very responsive. If you like adventure games this is the one for you! HAPPY GAMING AND MAY YOUR THUMBS NEVER GO NUMB!

This game is the best game there could ever be on PS2!!!! If you loved Rayman 2:the great escape this is the game for you. Some rumors say that this game is the same thing and not to waste your money, this is terribly wrong! From the very begining you will see different levels, enimies, characters, and items. The graphics are great! I am hooked on this game, I just can't put the controller down. This game may seem like a sinch at the start but it gets intense near the middle to the end of the game. I highly recommend this game and you should go and buy it right now! Especially if you like mario type games!

Wow. when I first purchased rayman 2 Revolution, I never expected to receive such an exilarating game. From beautiful and stunning graphics, to huge and very entertaining levels, Rayman contained all of the aspects that contributed to make an amazing and rare game. Some of the great qualities of Rayman 2 revolution were: spectacular graphics, wonderful voice acting and hearing aides, massive levels, great mini games, loveable characters, great storyline, and just raw and plain out FUN! But, to every yin, there is a yang, which in this case, the yang are the CONS or the less adequate qualities of this game which conclude of: pesky camera angles, and although this is a fantastic game, it lasted me a short 14 hours which isnt very long. But besides those 2 Cons, this game is a must have for anyone who owns a playstation 2. this game is my favorite game out of the games i own. my suggestion is, if you see this game anywhere which is now currently being sold for 19.99, you should purchase it right away because it is really worth the price ... Go out and buy this game right away! GOOD LUCK!

I bought this game because I needed an adventure game really bad. This game simply amazes me. The levels are huge and you'll fall in love with the characters. Once you've bought all the powers you can buy multiplayer mini games. I've played rayman on 64 and this is ten times better. The graphics are unbelievable and the gameplay and camera angles are simply wonderful. It took me twenty hours to clear all the levels and I still have to go back and get al the stuff. Just buy this game you'll love it if you like endless adventure.

Don't rent this one without instructions!

I rented this game and since I did not get instructions, I could not figure out how to play it at all. From the opening level the graphics looked great, but this is probably not one you want to rent.
