Rayman 2: Revolution

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 14 / 15

Rayman 2: Revolution is not only the next in the series of many Rayman games for all consoles-- its bigger, bolder and better than all of them put together. The first thing I noticed when I played it was how beautiful the graphics were. They're just what I'd expect my PS2 to produce, I am not disappointed at all... the gameplay is Mario 64-esque, but much deeper, with an entertaining plot and many cinematic sequences (and voice clips for everything that the characters say).

Rayman is a pretty odd heroe-- he looks like a chicken and he has no limbs attaching his hands or feet to his body... he has many powers (he can rock climb, rain dance, rapid fire, use his head as a helicopter + more). Most of the game is spent gaining new powers, exploring beautiful worlds, finding "Lums" and saving his various friends from enslavement by evil robots. The camera controls are great, it always locks on right behind him. The characters are cute and the worlds are colorful, but this is no kiddy game- it requires skill to beat. I have a feeling that it is going to be one of my all-time favorites. If you're looking for a game with adventure, action, engaging gameplay and beautiful graphics, Rayman 2 is for you!

I WAITED FOR THIS !

I waited for this for quite a while, being a big fan of Rayman since it first was released on the p.s.x.

Wow I cannot believe how incredable this game is. What I really enjoy is that ubisoft used the same type of songs and sounds as the first Rayman Making it an absolute Blast..

The Controls Could not be better at all they are perfect..

The graphics in the game make you feel like you are right in the action, 3-D In your face butterflies and so on..

I am playing the first level right now and it is huge, So I can only imagine whats in store for later..

If you like Rayman the origanal, This is an absolute MUST BUY !!

This is a game a family can sit down and play together or one player alone..

Ubisoft also put 3 Multi-player mini games and 2 bonus levels..

I Must Mention RAYMAN is a cute little guy, I love the Helicopter floating...

THIS IS MY FAVORITE P.S. 2 GAME....

Thank you for hours of fun, Ubisoft !!

I have quite a few games now for the PS2, but one thing I did not have was a platform type game. I tried the Donald Duck one, but just found it okay, not great. So I was looking forward to trying Rayman. I have never played any of the previous Rayman games so I did not have any preconceived notions. I was blown away from the very first screen, and it only gets better from there! The sky, and especially the water effects are amazing. Despite the cute cartoon-like graphics, I would not consider this a game for young childern, so parents be advised. Some of the puzzles can be quite a challenge, even for adults! The only drawback to the game, is the camera sometimes does not go where you want to look, but that problem exists on every 3-D platform game I've ever seen, so that shouldn't stop anyone from trying Rayman. If you own a PS2, you should put Rayman on your list. I rank it right up there with SSX. And graphically, Rayman surpasses anything currently available (3/01) on the PS2.

The other Rayman 2 just sucks

You know, it's kinda funny. Every once in a while a game with a create aspect will come out and just sell like dirt. Then, in desperation, the company that made it remakes it and it still sells like dirt. Well, the case with this game is completely different. It sucked before, it's better now. Anyone who bought the Dreamcast version and doesn`t want to bother with this version is really missing out.

First of all, unlike the original game, this game is actually PUZZLING. For example, before, the game's puzzles were basically the same throughout the whole game: shoot pirate, hit switch, enter door. That is not even close to what we are looking at in this game. In this game we are looking at puzzles that may take hours to figure out. And once you have figured them out, the results are usually spectacular. In other words, this game WILL take you a lot more time than the original Rayman 2:The great (quote: not so great) escape.

Second of all, the graphics in this game couldn't be any better. Backgrounds have a smooth, almost "Monkey Island 3" type of aspect to them. Every 2 dimensional picture from the original game has gotten a new 3D look. Plus, Rayman looks and moves astonishing. He has about 4 times the amount of Polygons that he did in "that other game" and his animations are way smoother. If you're a graphical geek like me, you will enjoy looking at your TV screen during a session of this fantastic game.

And finally, this game couldn't have more levels or secrets than it does. Over all, I would say there is about 40 massive levels and about 50 cutscenes. There's probably near 100 secret rooms and levels hidden in this giant maze of graphical genius and fun that is Rayman 2: Revolution. Even in the beginning you can get a feel of how massive the game is. Definately not going to end soon.

On the whole, if you haven't got Rayman 2 on PS2, you are poo.

Rayman 2 is great if you love Zelda or Mario-like games

Like another reviewer posted, this is the game I've been waiting for. Game play is very intuitive--I've played for about 5 hours now and have done well without any hints or guidebooks.

The levels become more challenging as you progress, but there is usually a hint or two that will help you take the next step if you get stuck. For example, if you need to shoot a structure to weaken or break it, the game creators use a band-aid to indicate a weak area that you can shoot at. In other games I'd have to get on the Internet and look up the next step, but so far I've managed to progress quite nicely.

The challenges throughout the game are also easier to master. Sometimes with Mario and Donkey Kong, for example, I would have to play a particular challenge 10 or more times to get through it. With Rayman, I can usually get through it in 3 to 5 attempts. This keeps me playing the game instead of getting frustrated and putting it away.

The perspective seems much better in this game than the N64 Super Mario game. In that game I sometimes inadvertently fell off cliffs or ledges (call me coordinated) but that doesn't happen with Rayman. The camera angles also tend to move smoothly (and are easily adjusted) though in some parts of the game, the camera zooms way out and there is no way to adjust the angle. Fortunately this doesn't happen very often.

If Rayman2 were my only PS2 game, I'd be perfectly happy and probably wouldn't buy another game until I completed this one. I'm not into sports or driving games, and for lack of better options I bought Summoner and Unreal Tournament, but I didn't play either for very long. With Rayman2 to keep me entertained, those other games are just gathering dust!

As good as a "platform" gets!

Get this game if you like platforms! I have the Dreamcast version, and now the Playstation 2 version which is even prettier, and promises even more excitement. If you haven't played Rayman, it's a must! The graphics are fantastic, the levels are unique, and you will not find anything that comes close to Sonic on Playstation 2 except the Rayman game.

The sound is good, the graphics are great, the gameplay is A plus! You can't go wrong. I've played for hours on my Dreamcast, and I come back for more whenever my newer games get boring. There are not many games that I do that with, except fighting and sports games that don't require a mission to be fun! Most games, once you are finished, you never take it out again. Try Rayman, and see the difference!

Well worth the wait!

What a great game! I can't put the controller down! My wife has to shut the PS2 down just to get me to go to bed! Thought it might be a little boring (being rated "E") at first because I like the "BANG! BANG! Shoot'em Up" type of games but this game is great if you like levers, puzzles, and thinking type games. This game gives me hope after the LACK LUSTER launch titles Sony and friends gave us. The graphics are outstanding ofcourse, but the game play is EXCELLENT! The controlls are easy and very responsive. If you like adventure games this is the one for you! HAPPY GAMING AND MAY YOUR THUMBS NEVER GO NUMB!

BUY IT YOU'LL LOVE IT

I bought this game because I needed an adventure game really bad. This game simply amazes me. The levels are huge and you'll fall in love with the characters. Once you've bought all the powers you can buy multiplayer mini games. I've played rayman on 64 and this is ten times better. The graphics are unbelievable and the gameplay and camera angles are simply wonderful. It took me twenty hours to clear all the levels and I still have to go back and get al the stuff. Just buy this game you'll love it if you like endless adventure.

This game is the best game there could ever be on PS2!!!! If you loved Rayman 2:the great escape this is the game for you. Some rumors say that this game is the same thing and not to waste your money, this is terribly wrong! From the very begining you will see different levels, enimies, characters, and items. The graphics are great! I am hooked on this game, I just can't put the controller down. This game may seem like a sinch at the start but it gets intense near the middle to the end of the game. I highly recommend this game and you should go and buy it right now! Especially if you like mario type games!
