As good as a "platform" gets!

Get this game if you like platforms! I have the Dreamcast version, and now the Playstation 2 version which is even prettier, and promises even more excitement. If you haven't played Rayman, it's a must! The graphics are fantastic, the levels are unique, and you will not find anything that comes close to Sonic on Playstation 2 except the Rayman game.

The sound is good, the graphics are great, the gameplay is A plus! You can't go wrong. I've played for hours on my Dreamcast, and I come back for more whenever my newer games get boring. There are not many games that I do that with, except fighting and sports games that don't require a mission to be fun! Most games, once you are finished, you never take it out again. Try Rayman, and see the difference!

A Fabulous Retooling

My lord, when I played the first level of this game I was in awe of the graphics. They were far more superior than the Dreamcast's. I played through the levels and found new twists and amazing features. The power of the Playstation2 releases the full potential of this game that the Dreamcast only caught the tip of the iceberg on. This game let me play it for hours and it is truly the first great game of 2001 for playstation2. I was a fan of the earlier versions of rayman that were so spectacular originally. Once again the people at UbiSoft have raised the bar for gaming excellence.

I WAITED FOR THIS !

I waited for this for quite a while, being a big fan of Rayman since it first was released on the p.s.x.

Wow I cannot believe how incredable this game is. What I really enjoy is that ubisoft used the same type of songs and sounds as the first Rayman Making it an absolute Blast..

The Controls Could not be better at all they are perfect..

The graphics in the game make you feel like you are right in the action, 3-D In your face butterflies and so on..

I am playing the first level right now and it is huge, So I can only imagine whats in store for later..

If you like Rayman the origanal, This is an absolute MUST BUY !!

This is a game a family can sit down and play together or one player alone..

Ubisoft also put 3 Multi-player mini games and 2 bonus levels..

I Must Mention RAYMAN is a cute little guy, I love the Helicopter floating...

THIS IS MY FAVORITE P.S. 2 GAME....

Thank you for hours of fun, Ubisoft !!

Well worth the wait!

Rayman 2: Revolution

Rayman 2: Revolution is not only the next in the series of many Rayman games for all consoles-- its bigger, bolder and better than all of them put together. The first thing I noticed when I played it was how beautiful the graphics were. They're just what I'd expect my PS2 to produce, I am not disappointed at all... the gameplay is Mario 64-esque, but much deeper, with an entertaining plot and many cinematic sequences (and voice clips for everything that the characters say).

Rayman is a pretty odd heroe-- he looks like a chicken and he has no limbs attaching his hands or feet to his body... he has many powers (he can rock climb, rain dance, rapid fire, use his head as a helicopter + more). Most of the game is spent gaining new powers, exploring beautiful worlds, finding "Lums" and saving his various friends from enslavement by evil robots. The camera controls are great, it always locks on right behind him. The characters are cute and the worlds are colorful, but this is no kiddy game- it requires skill to beat. I have a feeling that it is going to be one of my all-time favorites. If you're looking for a game with adventure, action, engaging gameplay and beautiful graphics, Rayman 2 is for you!

Wow. That's it. This game is outstanding. I can't believe how much detail Ubisoft but into this! The graphics are amazing and the music and sounds are great. This is definetly a must have for the Playstation 2, along with Madden 2001 and Sugglers Run. Trust me and all the reviews, this game is great. Buy it right now on amazon.com. You will NOT regret it.

Good Idea, Horrible Execution

Rayman 2 on the load screens claims the name, "Rayman: Revolution", but a revolution it certainly isn't. The game pretty much is a port from the other Rayman 2's, just with special little PS2 type enhancements. It follows the same storyline and everything. It even has the same levels and stages, so if you own the other Rayman 2's, this is a waste of money.

If you don't, it's still a waste of money. There is a lot of loading, and takes a long time. The game save eats up 270 KB on the memory card. It has alright game play, but NOT worth the money unless it's for a six year old.

Great Game Worthy of 5 Star Rating!

What a great game! I can't put the controller down! My wife has to shut the PS2 down just to get me to go to bed! Thought it might be a little boring (being rated "E") at first because I like the "BANG! BANG! Shoot'em Up" type of games but this game is great if you like levers, puzzles, and thinking type games. This game gives me hope after the LACK LUSTER launch titles Sony and friends gave us. The graphics are outstanding ofcourse, but the game play is EXCELLENT! The controlls are easy and very responsive. If you like adventure games this is the one for you! HAPPY GAMING AND MAY YOUR THUMBS NEVER GO NUMB!

The best platformer since Mario64

Those silly French sure can make some great games. And Rayman is right at the top as an example. It can best be described as "trippy." The characters, settings and levels are all fantastic. What else can one say for a protagonist with no arms or legs, but does have floating hands and feet mind you!

Ok, let's hit the nitty gritty. The control scheme is very intuitive. The left stick controls movement while X jumps and the square attacks. The L2 button is used for strafing and locking on to targets so you are always facing them (ala Zelda64).

The L1 and R1 buttons can be used to adjust the camera. This is just about the only area of the game that isn't perfect. Sometimes the camera isn't exactly in the best position and has led to a couple of annoying deaths.

However, the saving, loading and continuing options are all extremely well implemented. You can save anywhere on a level. And while you may start back at the beginning, all collected items will remain and the levels are so huge as to be a chore to go back through.

The variety between the levels is very refreshing as well. A lot of the game is standard run, jump, fight. But there are plenty of unique levels like water skiing behind a giant snake swimming through a swamp. You can launch yourself off of ramps to grab items or avoid obstacles. There are also some snowboard-esque levels thrown in as well. All are very well done.

The only other minor gripe I have is that the controls aren't given to you. A little trial and error is needed to figure out how to perform an obvious task. Like climbing up between two walls takes positioning yourself in a specific location not readily indentifiable. Oh well, not a big deal.

The game is hard to describe. Kind of Sesame Street on a really great acid trip (not that I'd know of course). So do yourself a favor and pick up this gem. It's worth every penny.
