First, let me say I am hooked! my wife is ready to burn the 3DO servers to the ground. I stumbled onto this game by accident, and my life has not been the same since SLEEP I NEED SLEEP. enough of that. This game offers a realistic physics model that you really must account for. If you are moving in one direction you have to apply counter thrust in the other to stop,I like that concept in a game. Also the creators have fleshed out a plausable explaination for thier universe, this helps one initally get into the game. Thwey have gone to some lengths to make it frowned upon to shoot new players before they are into and comfortable with the game, and the other players police those who shoot newbies,(really a rare occasion, very Well You can really do what you want I have been a miner, cargo haul, patrol man and an explorer one night i flew 500000kilometers in one of the sectors of space it was great. there is also combat if you are so inclined. There are squads, groups of pilots who have banded to gether to help one another, and further variuos interests. The graphics are stunning and the soundtrack is very good , the company also has servers that are dedicated to the game to support the squad pages and discussion boards. It is an easy yet complex game with a multitude of options and opprotunity for combaty roll playing or just seeing the sights a great game I will never have to buy another computer game forthe rest of my life. Jumpgate has new challenges every time you get in the cockpit. From landing your first time at a station, to getting kills in deep space, the game is difficult, yet very fun. Jumpgate has types of missions for everyone. Want to be a rock hugger? Jump in your cockpit, grab a mining laser and go! Wanna rule with cash? Start out by delivering cargo. Wanna just hang out with friends and do whatever? Start your own squad and do what you want. Just be warned. The game is HIGHLY addictive.

Great game...but hard to learn...

I was on the beta test team and during that time the good foaks over at netdevil added more weapons, equipment, and ships and they will continue to do so...but like it said hard to learn... you need to read the whole manual to learn how to do the most basic things, but once you get past that the game get easy to use. With this game you can pop in for 1 hour and do some missions thenleave it for a week and go back in with no problem

Being a Beta Tester for the last 6 months for this game, i can tell you its definitely worth buying. If i had cooler parents, i would buy it :( ... The graphics are easily run on my machine, which doesn't have any graphics card to boast about, but that doesn't mean they're not great. The gameplay itself is just awesome. Taking out your first squid, winning a player-v-player fight, flipping a beacon, all give you a thrill. 'What if i get the game too late?' No worries, the bounty system assures that no high level player will come and blast you away for no reason. I should warn you of one thing, however. This game is MASSIVELY addicting. You'll soon be calling in sick to work, skipping meals, cancelling dates in order to play more. In 2 words: BUY IT

BUY IT! AND JOIN -=MA=-

This kicks .... It has alot of cool things to do plus you can suggest new things and if others like it too then it may be added to it. It never stays the same. You get to fly and shoot Octs,Quans, and Conflux. Here is a tip never fire on a Solrain or you will die at that moment. You get to trade, mine, fight, or explore.

goal?

well the main problem in jumpgate is the lack of reason to play, you play diablo, you want to kill diablo, you play starcraft or allegiance, you want to kill your ennemies, you play a race game, you wants to win, but then you play jumpgate, at frist, yu see the mission computer and wants to suceed the missions, since it's persistant, you feel like doing something helpfull, but after some hours, you notice that beside raising a % slowy it does no good, when it reach 100%, a new base appear, big deal... the missions are easy... well more than easy, most are just travelling somewhere, do something, then come back, 95 of the time you won't meet any opposition. the graffics aren't bad, the stations are amazing and they are a must see, but i wouldn't pay $40 to see a space station in a game that i won't play anymore. the combats arealmost inexsistant(unless you go in the simulator). there is no reason to fight, no reason to do the boring missions. the 3 factions are allied with each other. the only reason buying the game would worth it, it would be to be a part of the community, and maybe have some good chat(since chatting is funnier than playing).
