This game is soooo cool! I've designed a few and they are a huge hit. The game is so detailed. It seems so realistic. The game provides people vomiting after rides, people chopping up benches, you can click on a person to see what their thoughts are about your park, you can pick a scenic location where you want your park to be built, you also can hire janitors and have them clean a spot, hire a handyman to fix a broken ride, new rides become avalible to you as your park becomes popular, you can charge the amount of money you want your customers to pay, right down to the restrooms! There's sooo much more! A definite buy! Every penny is worth it!

If I had only known now, what I had then, I wouldn't have wasted my money on SimThemePark. STP is now collecting dust on my office shelves after having it only 2 months, while RCT is gonna be worn out too soon! (I'll burn a copy to be safe :P) RCT is MUCH better all around. It's SO realisitic, like a real theme park. As a theme park lover, this game is right up my ally. The graphics and sound effects are stunning. And I LOVE how you can make your own coaster or use a pre-set design. Great game! :)

RollerCoaster Tycoon combines the intricacy and strategy of computer sim games with the excitement of rollercoasters and amusement parks! This game allows you to build the theme park of your dreams, and a pretty darn realistic one at that. You can build a wide variety of different types of rollercoasters (wooden, steel, suspended, bobsled, crazy-rodent, etc.); choose from one of the several pre-made coasters, download new coasters from the web site, or design your own! The possibilities are endless! There are also several water rides such as log flumes and water slides, plus many other favorites ranging from the gentle ferris wheel and merry-go-round to the more thrilling swinging ship and motion simulator. But it's not all fun and games...you have to build a park that not only keeps your guests happy but also makes a profit. You can assess your guests' needs and demands so you can figure out what needs to be done. Adjust the prices of admission to your park and your rides. Build concession stands, restrooms, and information booths to meet your guests' needs. Hire handymen, mechanics, and security guards to help keep your park and your rides running smoothly. Deal with vandals, litter, and even vomit (your rides do have nausea ratings, you know). Start advertising campaigns to bring more people, and therefore more money, into your park. Add scenery such as bushes, trees, gardens, benches, and statues to make your park beautiful. The possibilities are endless. This game pays a lot of attention to detail and succeeds at bringing the complete theme park experience right to your PC. The Loopy Landscapes and Corkscrew Follies expansion packs bring you even more rides and scenarios to work with. We're talking hours and hours of fun here! The bottom line is, go get this game! But be warned: once you start playing, you won't want to stop. You'll find yourself spending hours on end in front of your computer playing this game, and when you're away at work or school, you'll be eager to get home so you can play it some more!

This game is a lot of fun. Not only are there already made rides, but the roller coaster you've been dying to ride at an amusement park, you can actually create. There are also gentle rides for those boring people out there. With 15 different parks to choose from, this game will never be finished. Go out and get this game the next chance you have. You won't regret it!

This game takes sim games to another level. It eats on Theme Park and Them Park World. You have TOTAL control of your environment and you can build BIG and I mean BIG rollacosters!
The levels are well laid out with different scenarios. You dont build every park from scratch. To win a level you have to use a combination of Park Value, Number of Customers, Money in and Happiness of customers.
The rides are great and there are no bugs that I have seen. The add on pack is great and there are hundreds of extra rides etc at the web site. The best is an Alton Towers scenario which is so similar to the real thing! This is a hughely addictive game. I bet if you start playing it you wont stop til you finish! If you like any sim management game then buy this one!

The game crashed after two minutes of use when clicking the right mouse button. Technical support says that the game is not compatible with many mouse drivers and is not compatible with Windows NT. They also say there are no plans to fix the crashing mouse problem.
The installation program gives no clue that Windows NT is not a supported operating system.
The game appears to be clunkily designed. The build feature require going through multiple windows without keyboard support. Mouse clicking small window buttons could lead to eye strain and hand strain sooner that keyboard enabled windows.

I am not given to strong statements, but in this case I will make an exception---THE BEST GAME EVER! It's very easy to get started, will run on "slower" computers, and once you get into it, you can't get out! You get totally lost in the world you create---it's so much fun making rides and then watching people enjoy them! I love the way you can pick a certain person to watch, and see what rides they pick, the way you have SO much control over designing rides, the ease of making coasters, although they can be quite fancy, basically I love everything about this game. I am not a "gamer" but I got so hooked on this it was almost scary!

Roller Coaster Tycoon is definately the greatest game for the computer. It is so addictive and so much fun. But don't buy this game expecting it to be all fun and games, it can get very hard(and I wouldn't suggest this for anyone under 12). In this game not only do you design roller coasters, but you can custom make other rides too(log flumes, chair lifts, water slides, etc.) And don't worry, if you don't think that you would be good at designing rides, there are pre-made rides to choose from.
Designing an amusement park is a lot of work, but with a lot of hard work, you will be able to build a very successful one.

If you have loved all of those others clasic games out there (doom, quake, warcraft, etc) but thought they were a little too violent or too repetitive then you should try this game. It has an easy interface and is loads of fun. You can expierience the joy of managing your own themepark without worrying about budget costs or local laws because in this game there are no limits. You can use the games built-in rides or you can design your own rides. If you don't think that you have the knack for designing your own rides, but want to get better ones then you can go to the game's official website where you can download extra official rides or you can swap rides with other people at the "ride exchange". This game is so fun and exciting but, if you dont believe me then just go download the free demo. I'm sure it will convince you that Roller Coaster Tycoon is a great game!

This game let's you do all kinds of stuff, from placing light posts to designing the ultamite scream machine. Choose from colors to types of cars. Build accross water and even into other roller coasters in case they get in your way. Watch people pay to get in the park, see them walk into a line and watch them hop into the first seat of the brand new coaster you just opened. Watch them scream as they travel down the first drop and see what they thought of the ride when they get of. Set advirtisments to boost popularity for a new ride. And hire staff to make sure nothing "bad" happenes! Choose from wooden to Steel Verticle Coasters to Ferris wheels for young visitors. Set prices for pizza to coasters to admmision to on-ride-photos. This game combines thought to design problems like too much intensity to tring to fit a coaster in a small space. This is definetly one of the best games ever made. Thanks to Chris Sawyer!
