The best sim game ever has finally come to PC!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 104 / 115

This addicting game is a best seller and for a good reason. This fun (and sometimes funny) game requires a lot of free time, a strategic brain, and a good imagination.

RCT has a very user-friendly interface. It is easy to roam around your park, create and maintain rides, hire staff (janitors, mechanics, security guards, and entertainers), keep the park clean, and much more. Even if you're new to this game, a quick overlook at the game's features will get you going. But even a quick look won't satisfy you with this very addicting game. I can guarantee that you'll want to play this all day and night.

Creating your own ride is very fun. Make all the drops, vertical loops, etc. you want. But be careful to keep within the budget range! Sounds hard? It gets harder as it unlocks more parks as you complete scenarios. But no matter how hard or frustrating it is, it will get more fun as you research more rides and attractions as time passes.

So if you're trying to beat the park objective, keep within budget range, create the best roller coaster, keep your guests happy, or just play for fun, you'll agree from the minute you get into the game that the best sim game ever has finally come to PC!

The expansion pack is a great addition to a great game. Be sure to include the Corkscrew Follies addition with your order.

So Addicting It Should Be Illegal!

Have you ever gone to an amusement park and thought you could make the rides just a little bit better, at least in your imagination? Well folks, here's your chance. Especially if you have any love for rollercoasters. A little warning though, when I first bought the game I stayed up until 5:00 in the morning playing it so if you buy this game for your kids you might want to monitor how long they play. You are set up as the budding Theme Park tycoon and your initial goal is to attract a certain amount of guests to your park with a certain level of customer satisfaction (your park is rated by each guest and the computer keeps track). If you start from scratch (the funnest way to play, hands down) you will get frustrated. Your rollercoasters that you design most likely won't work exactly as you plan, but it's ok you can fix it. If you are looking for a family oriented, non-stop fun PC game look no further than Roller Coaster Tycoon!

Even an old man loves this game

I've been a gamer for years, but lately I've found that a lot of new games are just retread of old games with better graphics and sound. Or they simply just suck -- e.g. Mech Warrior 3. Roller Coaster Tycoon (RCT) certainly isn't that. I found the game, addictive, exciting and fun. The first time I booted it up I was planning on just figuring it out for a couple of minutes. To my surprise, I played for about 4 hours straight. I was so immersed that I completely lost track of time and space.

I think that the most interesting part of the game is how deep the game is and how many different variable one has to keep track of while building and running an amusement park. Also, I found it very challanging as I tried to update my park from kiddie rides to the more exciting rollercoasters. Finally, you can monitor the thoughts and actions of your customers and modify your park to respond to their needs.

This game is a blast!

One of the most addictive games ever created!

I love this game. Buy it, but make sure you have a lot of free time set aside when you start to play it, because time will fly. This game is the most addictive game I've ever played, and I used to think I spent way too much time playing Sim City.

The game gives you several different scenarios in which you have to develop amusement parks that are profitable and attract guests. As you invest in R&D, more rides and food stands are available for you to use. Build your own coasters or use versions provided by the game. You also have to hire mechanics, handymen, security guards, and entertainers (people in panda bear, elephant, or tiger costumes).

The expansion pack is something you'll want to pick up as well, as it gives you access to more rides and scenarios. Creating new coasters and water slides is a blast, but so is the challenge of developing a profitable park!

Most Addicting Game

This is one of those games, you say you're only going to play for 15 minutes, and the next time you look at the clock, 2 hours have gone by. This game is great, you actually get to build your own theme park, name the rides, the park, decide how much money you want to charge, what rides you want to have, how much staff you want to hire, paint the rides, run an advertising promotion for the park, just about everything. The thing that makes this game addicting is you may build a park, it does well, but then you think "But if I just put this roller coaster here, or added this it could be even better" So then you go back and play again. This game could never get boring. I have friends who love games like "Doom" and more thriller type games, and Still love this one. I'd really recommend adding this to any computer game selection.

A fun game for everyone to enjoy!

In Roller Coaster Tycoon you build a theme park. Sounds simple, right? Not quite! You have to have money to build things, but if you charge too much for admission, there go your customers! You'll get more rides and shops and things as times goes along, depending on how much money you spend on research. Then you've got to hire janitors to mow the grass and empty the trash cans and clean up the barf. Don't forget to add trash cans and benches, otherwise your customers will litter and throw up all over the place! You have to have all kinds of rides--too many slow rides and your customers get bored. Too many roller coasters and they get sick. If you make your roller coaster go too fast, it will fly off the track! With a bit of care and a lot of whimsy, you'll have a fun theme park! (A hint: keep playing even after you win the game. You'll get lots of cool new rides you hadn't seen before!)

All in all, Roller Coaster Tycoon is a fun, cheerful game good for hours of play! I highly recommend it to anyone who even remotely enjoys simulation games.

I'm sorry, did I rate this 5 stars? I meant 6.

You've probably read all the other reviews for this game trying to shop for THE product. They mostly have high ratings, right? 5? Well 6 is the minimum of stars you can slap on this "Game of the Year". Many features include custom designs (the main feature, really) in which you can let loose your imagination and build a crazy coaster. set the color scheme, name it anything ( Phantom, Scareville, even "This ride is good") and POOF! You've gotta pure SCREAM coming from your guests (Ranging fom Super Happy to Super Sick to Mad! Hopefully, Happy.) when they go coastin' down the first hill of your Dream Thrill Ride. Ad campaigns, staff and even bathrooms create more detail. Plenty of scenarios (scenes,or place or.. well, you get the idea. I hope.),and in each one is an objective you try to beat, (or not. You can just have fun.) and you earn new scenarios. From Merry-Go-Rounds to Roller Coasters to Log Flumes to Pizzia Stalls, this is THE game to get. Two thumbs up.

I am a twelve year old and I am involved with a lot of sports. When I am home I want to spend my time relaxing and not being stressed out because I can't get something to work. This game is nothing like that. It has a easy downloading procedore. Also once I actually got in to the program with a easy click. I wa building roller coasters like I was a pro. The thing I think people we glance over this product. Roller Coaster Tycoon. It is a catchy name, But only for the people who are deeply into roller coasters. This game only isn't roller coasters. It is a whole amusement park game. You can place rides in spots. The rides are from a ferris wheel or scrambler to a log flume or a power launch tower. This has to be my favorite computer game I own. Also you would think that this game isn't very educational. Well it is. You learn about force, math and how to budget your money. It is just a great all around game. Thanks Chris Sawyer for producing a great game like this.

Hours of Fun!!

I bought this program for my nine year old son and wondered why out of all the pc and Playstation games he has, he would walk in the door after school and ask if he could use the computer and he would play Roller Coaster Tycoon...everytime. It wasn't until he was having trouble making money at one of his amusement parks that I found out and have also become addicted to this game. It's just plain fun. It allows you to use your creativity not only when it comes to creating a park and it's rides but also when your trying to figure out how to lure customers to your park so you can achieve your objective. It becomes a challenge because you have to maintain your park while planning, building and marketing. My son is learning a lot, for a nine year old, about running a business and being responsible for it because I'm doing a lot of explaining as to why I'm spending ... on advertising instead of ... on a coupon campaign and why people won't come to your park if it isn't clean. He's having fun while he's learning even though he doesn't realize it's educational!! This is a great game for anyone age 8 and up. I highly recommend it!

Absolutely Addicting!

This is one of the best buys that I've made all year. (Yes, I know it's March.) I played it for hours and hours. Sleep became secondary. In fact, the only reason I'm not playing now is because my game freezes after about 2 hours of playing. I don't know if my laptop is the problem or the disk. I'm still trying to figure it out. Other than that, the game is simply amazing. You control everything. You handle ride speeds, research and development, and garbage can placement. You have to deal with bank debts, lost guests, vandelism, crashed rides, and business quotas. I highly recommend this game. Once I finish this one, I'll probably get the new Expansion Pack. If you want a great gift for someone or are thinking of getting it for yourself, BUY IT!
