300 VR Missions may seem a bit daunting at first glance, but when you're dying for more Metal Gear Solid action and completing the original game for the ninth time doesn't appeal much to you this weekend, you don't pass up a chance like this. Experience with Metal Gear Solid isn't necessary, but definitely recommended, there are a few elements from it that a player would be better off with when going into VR Missions. The Ninja levels are particularly sharp, but there are only three very short ones to choose from, so they get old fast. The photo shoots aren't much of an incentive at all, especially during some of the more frustrating missions. If anything, do it for personal pride, but by all means, do it.

Kewl Game

Mainly a good game but can get a litttle fustraiting for the less able players and to a bit to easy for the realy good players. Lots of new options makes it a good game, including the ninja was a good thought but the 3 missions with him are very short. Overall its just VR Training with a couple of realy kewl new things eg.mystery,ninja.... and more VR maps made better.

Great game, could be better

This game is definitely fun and entertaining but there is not much more to do after the training. The spots you get to play need to be longer. But this game is a good way to prepare for MGS. But I liked MGS for playstation better.

Don't waste your money

Metal Gear Solid, (the first one) is a really really good game. If you enjoy action/sniper games, its definatley for you. However, VR Missons is an attempted continuation of the story. The game isn't really a game though. VR Missions is nothing but a training game for the same price as the real game. I wouldn't waste any more money on this if my life depended on it. Be my guest and try it out if you want, but I would definatley rent it before you order it.

Not worth the buy, rent it twice

This game has all of the great weapons and game control of its predecessor (Metal Gear Solid), but it's only VR mission after VR mission. Quick, shoot at targets, now soldiers, and back again. The few variations they include are short lived and not worth spending full price. My recommendation is rent it twice from your five day rental video store and be happy you beat it in 10 days.

this game is fun, some of the missions are pretty enjoyable. The only reason why i wouldn't buy it is because it costs as much as metal gear solid. and also the main reason why i rented this game was because of the ninja missions. But there were only three.

Virtual Disappointment

Upon completion of Metal Gear Solid last Christmas '98, I was looking forward to Komani's next offering in the genre, VR Missions. I rushed out and bought it. I wish I had read the valuable reviews here first, I was very disappointed. This game, if you can call it that, is just taking advantage of the success of its predocessor, Metal Gear Solid. I did not have fun with it and it was not challenging. The operation of weapons are limited and do not allow for traditional aiming as in Metal Gear, rather a laser scope dresses it up a bit, but does not give you freedom to be efficient in tactics or battle. I would rather see Konami do something original rather than produce reconstituted practice missions.

More Fun, Fun, Fun w/ Solid Snake!

The main reason why I can't give this game a rating of 5 stars...well it ain't no MGSolid, but in a way that's what makes this game particularly enjoyable! it's just pure, mindless, addictive fun where you sneak around shooting things under certain time conditions w/out having to sit through the sometimes endless dialogue of the original game. besides, if you stick it out long enough you get to fight a 50ft soldier that's hellbent on stepping on Meryl(from the first game)! and in my opinion, that's way cooler than playing as a masochistic ninja any day. so go get it, what else are you gonna do at 4am?

If you want more stealth then this is a must!

A good game for any Metal Gear fan which brings you over 300 missions to accomplish. But there are some points to consider;don't expect a wide variety of 3D environments because it is just always the same VR world on each mission.Plus you won't be fighting any big bosses or watching cinematic video sequences. Two stars have been taken away from its score because of this.It is just straight forward level-based game playing with many missions to fight through including Mystery Mode, several levels using different weapons but it can sometimes be rather repetitive.I recommend you try this game before you think of buying it.But I think you will be very pleased to know that you can finally play as Ninja.
