For those that have already played Metal Gear Solid shouldn't have to even think twice about purchasing this amazing game! Over 300 complex VR missions ranging from cerebral based challenges to reflex oriented, there's plenty of variety to satisfy any gamer. Great difficulty, complemented by deep, multifaceted stealth gameplay offers quite an amazing package. Don't worry about replay value, you'll end up spending hours of time trying to shave seconds off your VR times. As long as you're buying this, You might as well buy Metal Gear Solid, possibly the best game ever made. Definitely a must have for any Playstation console owner!

Great fun, but try the original first

300 VR Missions may seem a bit daunting at first glance, but when you're dying for more Metal Gear Solid action and completing the original game for the ninth time doesn't appeal much to you this weekend, you don't pass up a chance like this. Experience with Metal Gear Solid isn't necessary, but definitely recommended, there are a few elements from it that a player would be better off with when going into VR Missions. The Ninja levels are particularly sharp, but there are only three very short ones to choose from, so they get old fast. The photo shoots aren't much of an incentive at all, especially during some of the more frustrating missions. If anything, do it for personal pride, but by all means, do it.

Excellent traditional gameplay

The greatest thing about this game is the control... if you are bent on 100% completion you've gotta be a great video game player. The controls are light and fluid... I feel like Snake hunkering against a wall, waiting for a man to turn his back and then pulling my gun out ever so quickly and smoothly. There are no extra men. No super weapons. Just guns, explosions and harder and harder challenges. If you gotta have a plot and cinematics and all those other nice yet inessential fripperies, pick another game. If you want a good challenge and solid gameplay give this a try.

want fun? this is it

This game is a wonderful spin-off of Metal Gear Solid, though it seems as if it would have made a better pre-release before MSG, for training.

The game consists of 300 VR missions. Combat simulations basicly. After you play through the weapons mode you wonder if they are going to ship you off to run around with Snake in alaska some more.

The Graphics Rock. The Sound Rocks. The Gameplay rocks. This game is god-like.

A fun game!

This may not be the sequel but it is still a very fun game to keep the Metal Gear Solid fan occupied. One of the best features is that you get to be the NINJA! Get this game if you like MGS or the Ninja

In fact, I'd really only recommend this to those people who really enjoyed the gameplay and challenge of Metal Gear Solid. As I understand this, this disk was part of the game that was cut and then re-released in Japan as Metal Gear Solid Integral, as a VR Disk packaged with the game.

So as is, here in the states, we get a disk with just the added VR levels. I have to say, I did enjoy some parts of this release very much, though there were several points where I was let down. This game takes place pretty much exclusively in the VR environs seen in Metal Gear Solid, and doesn't include any of the storyline, speech or backdrop that helped to make MGS a great game. Playing as the Ninja is great, though there are only 3 levels to play him in. The mystery mode can be somewhat fun, though I don't see much replay value in it.

So all in all, don't buy this game unless you really loved MGS for it's gameplay and you want a chance to recieve some additional training with the Stinger and Nikita and SOCOM and PSEG and all the rest. I'm very much a MGS enthusiest, so it was great for me. If you aren't, think twice.
