Fun For All Gamers

Rayman is the most graphically impressive game now available for the GBA. But what I love most about Rayman is it's a great game for all ages. Younger gamers will enjoy the crisp, bright graphics, entertaining animation of the characters and the inspired level designs (such as a land of huge musical instruments and another made up of huge pencils, pens, paintbrushes and other art supplies). Older games will enjoy all this as well as get into the deep gameplay which has you going back to previous levels after you've gained special abilities to rescue previously unattainable Electoons. It's also fun trying to find, and beat, all the magical mini-games.

This is a great game for a portable gaming system because the levels are broken up into short segments. This allows you to easily play for a few minutes or hours on end (as you most likely will) and always accomplish something. Saving your game progress is easy too, as you can save at the end of any level. There are even save points within the level so you can return to that point if you loose a life.

For impressive graphics, imaginative level design and challenging quests that can be enjoyed by gamers of any age, you can't go wrong with Rayman Advance! You'll be blown way!

Great For Non-Experts

I'm 36 and mostly stick to the puzzle and logic type games because I'm not a seasoned veteran of these side-scroller games---I'm too busy with work, family and other commitments to spend hours on end trying to reach that next level! I still want a fun, portable diversion now and then and bought a GBA because of the improved graphics and memory capability.

This is one of two launch titles I bought, and I found Rayman Advance to be fun, funny, and challenging without being frustrating. The environments are colorful and amusing, the music is cute but not annoying, and Rayman's movements and reactions are also very funny.

Very experienced gamers who have mastered much more difficult titles might find this one way too easy and boring, but it's about right for me. I just hate those games where you keep dying over and over until you get the millisecond timing for a jump or attack exactly right; in this game, exploration seems more important and there are many areas of the environment (and one-ups, "tings", and other things) you won't find at all if you don't climb every vine and jump onto every platform.

If you're more goal-oriented and prefer games that test your timing and coordination, you should probably bypass this one and pick up Castlevania instead. But if you're in it for fun, Rayman is tough to beat!

This game really surprised me! First of all, because it has the cuttest graphics I've ever seen in a long long time on a videogame, not to mention the background music! And second of all, because it's not a dumb game, like many nowadays. It's a game with some sort of difficulty, that not every children would manage to play. It's a game as tough as games were some years ago, back there when NES was at the top.
That is also why some people might bother to play this game: the stages are really long, and sometimes you have to play them for hours before you can continue, and you cannot save until you end them. But, for me, that's the beauty of these harder games: they are really worth your money, because you don't spent 30 dollars just to play 3 hours... You spent 30 dolars to play day after day, and still don't finish the game. And when you finish, you probably won't even remembered how it started, and you'll feel like playing it all over again! I think this game will be a huge success! :)

Fantastic!

This game is fantastic! The graphics are spectacular and the game play is lot's of fun. You really feel like you are playing on a large video game system. It's so addictive, I couldnt put it down and when I did (three hours later), my fingers were so cramped I couldnt move them. I highly recommend this game. I'm 37 and just love it and I'm very fussy about the games I like. Even my eight year old can't put it down. We help each other out getting to new levels. This is a must have game for the Gameboy Advance.

Rayman never dissapoints!

Rayman is an adorable little guy with no arms or legs. But that does not stop him from his quest to save the Electoons. Rayman Advance is the first game to really show off the advanced graphics capabilitys of the GBA, and it has very smooth controlls, which make for good gameplay. The game is fun, and replay value is good, because you have to go back to levels that you have already completed once you have new powers so you can find all of the cages. The game allows you to save often, which is good, and it is not the annoying passwords of the GBC game. This and Tony Hawk should be the first games you buy for the GBA.

Oh,and for those of us who like to have walkthroughs, there is one in the first issue of Nintendo Power Advance.

Gorgeous Graphics & Good Fun Gameplay

Rayman Advance is my third game purchase for my GBA and I am not at all disappointed.

The character design & animations are wonderfully done and the backgrounds (which are presumably pre-rendered) are simply stunning.

Rayman is easy to control and fun to play.

The only criticisms which could be made against Rayman are:

1. The music (while nice) gets a little repetitive. 2. The earlier levels don't last long (although the overall game seems huge).

This is a definite must buy!

Be Wary of Rayman...

Rayman is a tough item to review. I don't have the GBA version, but I do have the PC version which is EXACTLY the same. First off, I recommend only people who have never played this game before to purchase it.

As far as the actual gameplay goes, Rayman is a mixed bag. Rayman earns his moves Banjo-Kazooie style from a fairy and runs, jumps, and later, swings and glides, throughout MANY levels. The variety apparent in the levels is sometimes great. You'll turn tiny to fit through gaps or, using your spinning hair as blades, cut ropes attached to giant stones and a huge stone slap while dodging obstacles to prevent yourself from drowning in the water below (one of the game's most intense scenarios). But alas, this is where the problem in the game lies. This game is VERY, VERY DIFFICULT. It will take countless tries to get past certain levels. This wouldn't normally be so bad. The catch is you have a limited number of continues to get through the game, resulting in only about a total of 50 tries. This problem will not seem apparent in the first stages, but 75% of the game will frustrate even seasoned gamers, and INFURIATE anyone below a good skill level.

Thankfully, the rest of Rayman is a joy to play. Aside from polygon powerhouses such as Iridon 3D and Tony Hawk 2, you won't be seeing better graphics on the GBA thus far. The music is surprisingly good also. And the huge, hulking bosses are a great diversion from the regular game, as are Mr. Hat's various minigames. If you feel the hunger for some platforming action, Castlevania is the way to go. If you're not into that series, get this. But be warned - if anger management classes aren't up your alley, or you're getting this for a kid as their first game - get Mario Bros. Advance instead.

Rayman is the best gba game yet!

Going To Be Huge

Rayman Advance is going to be huge as it gives all of the loyal Nintendo fans(the ones who hate Playstation) the chance to play the original Rayman. Rayman is a colourfull adictive platform game that starts of easy and progressively gets harder, which presents a bit of a challenge. Rayman isn't just for children its for people of all ages so no GBA should be without this game

If you've tried playing the the demo Gameboy Advances a lot of stores have out then you've probably been underwhelmed by the Mario Advance game they're all loaded with. If you want to see what the GBA can really do then this is the game to get. The graphics are spectacular! If it weren't for the small size of the screen, you'd think you were playing a console. My one gripe is the sound. The sound FX for the game are fine but the music isn't much better than what you'd hear on an ordinary Gameboy.
