This game is great! It's just likeyou're actually in the movie or book. It's just like theTwo Towers but upgraded, like you go from playing 4 people to 9! You get to play as all your favourite characters. In fact, basically all the good guys, like Aragorn(of course, Legolas, Gimli, Gandalf, Sam, Frodo, and even Merry, Pippin and Faramir(but you have to beat the Crack of Doom to play Pippin and Faramir, and the Black Gate to play Frodo). You get to fight loads of enemies. You actually get to fight bosses like the King of the Dead, Shelob, the Nazgul Lord, Gollum and even the Mouth of Sauron! You have to fight enemies that get harder and harder like orcs, ghosts, giant spiders, Uruk Hai, Easterlings, Nazgul, Trolls and the dreaded Mumakils. The only problem is the game is a little easy. Some of the levels where you have to defend your fellow warriors or fight through levels swarming with orcs in a time limit and fighting Nazgul at the same time(like in Minas Tirith) but most of the levels are easy. All the bosses are easy, you can beat them on your first or second try. The only boss it may take a while to beat is Gollum, the final boss, but that only takes you three or four tries as well, it just takes a long time to beat him. The normal enemies are harder than the bosses and(believe it or not)the Nazgul Lord! You can beat him in about five minutes! But overall it's fun. It took me several weeks to do it, and I still play it, and it was months since I got it! Buy it, you won't be disappointed!

This game is timeless. I am not a good player at this game though, but once you get the hang of this game, you will be in paradise. I love how you can play as the whole feloship (unlike the "TWO TOWERS". And whoever designed the co-op mode. GOOD GOING!!! Enjoy, and don't forget to use the hobbits in multiplayers, somtimes they can be sooooo good.

Interactive movie...

The game isn't really very difficult or challenging for someone with any experience with video games. Though I'm not surprised that so many of the people who buy the movies, buy the game. The game is nearly just like an interactive version of each movie. And the missions are different for each set of characters. The picture quality is incredible. But the game is still somewhat lacking. Maybe for young teens, 10-13. Anyone younger won't be able to play, and anyone older might find it a bit boring.

5 STARS!Lord of the Ring's is the reason I started to like "EAgame's".The movie was great and so is the game.About 90% of the game has to do with the last movie because 3 of the level's have to do with the previous movie. So you start off having the choice of 3 path's.After the training level you can choose either the wizard's path(Gandalf)the hobbit's path(Sam and later Frodo)or the king's path(Aragorn,Legolas,or Gimli). Each fighter has their own unique style of combat. The hobbit's are only really good when they fight orc's.Because of their size in weakness fighting can sometime's be a bad thing.Their special ability is to cloak themselves and turn invisible. The hobbit's use dagger's.On the path of the king you can either be human, dwarf,or elf.Gimli the dwarf is the strongest. He rarely has to use killing attack's.And eventually he'll be strong enough to kill orc's in 1 hit.But because of his streanth and size he is not good at speed. He uses an axe.Legolas is one of my favorite's.He is the fastest person in the team. When it come's to the bow Legolas is practiclly unstoppable. Why,because he can charge up his bow quickly and eventually he can shoot 2 arrow's at a time. But because he is better at distant fighting he isn't so strong.Legolas uses twin dagger's and a bow.Aragorn the human is a mixture between both.He is actually your best choice for getting through the game.He use a sword an a bow.On the path of the wizard you get to play as Gandalf the White.Gandalf is sorta like Aragorn. Both fast and strong. He is also a favorite. It's awesome because he can create a shield and run threw a crowd of enemies. He uses a sword and a staff.Depending on how you kill enemies you can earn point's that let you purchase skill's.My favorite skill's are the bane's(instant kill's).You will battle threw 13 massive level's and 2 extra's.You will encounter enemies like orc,urak-kai,easterling's and the mumakil. And bosses like Shelob,The Witch king and sauron's minion's.Here's the final scoop.
(out of 5)
Story:5 continues with the trilogy.
Graphic's:5 The character's look real.
Control:5 nice and easy.
Sound:5 just how it should be.
Replay value:You'll keep it for year's.
Pro's
Great graphic's.
The real voice actor's.
Ton's of enemies to dispose of.
Sound's like your in a real battle.
Large variety of special attack's.
Cave troll's are fun to battle.
No more split screen multiplayer.
Con's
If your an experienced gamer you can seriously beat it in 1-2 day's.
3 extra character's arent so special.
Extra level's are rather dumb.
Can't play as Theoden.
Well bye!!!...wait a sec

Special review
On gamespy I found out that EA will be releasing 2 more lord of the ring's game's hopefully in fall. These are the 2.
The third age
On the third age you will take up the roll of 3 different character's.I've already seen screen shot's and the graphic's are good.I think you get to be a different fellowship. You can even play on sauron's side.Unfortunatly I don't have much info but that.It will be on all 3 system's
The battle for middle earth
This is based off of all 3 movies. You get to control a massive army of soldier's.And you finally get to play as Theoden.Their will be a field with over thousand's of soldier's and you control it all!Creature's flinch and and stuff when they get hurt. And troll's and mumakil will be seen usually wondering around.Your unit's are so realistic because they yawn and stuff after not being used for a while. If you want to you can take control of launching catupult's.You also get the Ent's on your side. And of course you can control the fellowship. And don't forget the eagle's.This game envolve's around war.If you want to you can control a single unit but mainly you can just grab huge group's and send them into battle. The unit group's have good A.I since they can actually create a unique battle plan on their own.Your main focus will be on the fellowship fighter's.There will also be something called the Meta-Impact system where sauron enter's battle with his huge mace. And big unit's will use the environment as a weapon's.Troll's will even use orc's to throw at you. This will be on PC.

Well that's all the info I have for now.Bye!!!

As if my pleas for a great game were answered, EA introduced the Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, making me the happiest teen on Earth.
I first played TTT, but I didn't have my memory card then, so it was a pain in the #@$ whenever i had to turn the game off. Incredibly addictive, I could hardly stop playing, but I gave it 4 for 5 stars because of two reasons:
1- No co-op. Games this huge, this fun, and with this many enemies just has to have some kind of multi-player mode.
2- Lack of options. The story was precise, but you were gauranteed to follow it in the same order every time you played it, wich made it dull after a while.
But I have little, if anything bad to say about ROTK. The graphics were much better, as were the scene transitions. I did have my memory card by the time I got the game, but even still, saving wasn't much of an issue, since I played it constantly like a stupified zombie. The new horde of playable characters, more levels, new moves, and the fact that you can use any of the characters in any level makes this game magnificent; 5 for 5, and well done Tolkien.

An Amazing Movie, An Amazing Game

This game is beyond words. The levels are so complex and detailed it's a wonder it was made by computer animation, rather than filmed live from the sets! The characters are exact replicas of their actor counterparts, and the voiceovers by the actors make it all that more realistic!

The complexity of the different battle techniques one can use are awesome. This is not a "press alt to kill" type game, it requires some thinking through and getting used to different attacks and parries. You will definitely not get bored with it. Also, the game is not going to be done in one day. The cool thing about it is that it stretches itself out. You're not going to defeat the whole game in one sitting and then wonder what to do next. It's a challenge, though not too difficult to handle. It's an addicting game that will bring you back every day to keep going.

Once you're done, you unlock cheats, interviews, new levels, and new characters! Also, you can repeat the whole game using characters that were locked before. For instance, you can try and see how Aragorn would fare getting the Ring to Mount Doom, or how Pippin would have survived the Paths of the Dead.

Amazing game, make sure to get this one! You'll be so glad you did!

Good and Bad

This is a really good game. The game designers however missed a couple of small things that could elevate this game from "VERY GOOD" to even "GREAT". This small things can make a huge impact to a players gaming pleasure. Couple of things they should change.

1. Difficulty level - Default is easy. Somebody should explain to EA what "EASY" means. I just think they could have made the default to medium and have a setting of easy that could cater to younger audience. Skilled gamers then could easily set it to hard if they want a tougher game.

2. Cheap Death - Instead of instant death, use the life bar for damage. Dying because of falling rocks that you cant even see is no fun.

3. Tight Controls - The controls are not tight enough. They should take a cue from SOUL CALIBUR on fight control. The combos are pretty nice to look at, its just that executing them feels a bit wierd to me (it seems I'm pressing the button to fast, might be my timing is off simply because I play fighting games too).

4. Saving - Give the player the ability to save the game at any point. Some gamers have a life, they cant stare at the TV too long you know... Now for so-called hardcore arrogant gamers out there, some will say this will make the game too easy. Two words for you, "DONT SAVE".

5. Game Length - I think the game is not that long. This is great too since you get to finish the game quicker. It would have been nicer if the game was a bit longer, like a ton of bonus stages (subquests) that you can play or not play (your choice).

The graphics in this game is absolutely gorgeous. I like the fact that in some levels, my characters are a part of the environment rather than the sole target. The first stage of the hobbits was amazing. A lot of fights all over the place and it remains true to what really happened in the story.

There will always be some comments that this game is a mindless hack-n-slash. This is very true if you always think that way, I mean you can always barge in straight to battle and come up victorious. To me, its up to you to infuse any strategy you seem fit. But hey that's just me...

Overall, I gave the game 4 our of 5 stars simply because I really enjoyed it. It is not perfect but I dont think its far off. I'm not sure if they would be able to make another game using the LOTR characters. I hope they can come up with something. Theres a lot of material in the LOTR saga that can be used. Even though I mentioned a few suggestions, this is one really good enjoyable game.

I rented this game and thought it was simply awful. Characters are very hard to follow, with fighting scenes often seeming very cluttered. The challenges are tedious...often seems like you're doing the same thing with different characters for the whole game.

Rent or buy the Two Towers game, which I think is much better.

this is the worst game ever
