Theres mainly only one HUGE problem with this game:
Saving.

I thought we were pass the era of gaming were you couldn't save anywhere you want - or worst yet, save period. Some of the levels on this game are pretty intense, and are long - but EA for whatever god-forsaken reason, decided to be an absolute a**hole and NOT put "save anywhere" function (like 99% of PC games have) on the PC version.

There is nothing more anoying then getting 20 min into a level, only to die and start ALLLL the way back from the begining. The results? Only to get back where you were to die AGAIN. How lame is that? A reviewer said it earlier: The saving system in this game is a shame. A damn joke. A teaser.
Not only that, but I have been screwed by bugs more then once in this game. One time, during a cut-scence on the level Southern Gate (the Kings path) it showed the big elephant comming towards me (this is all a cutscene) and for whatever reason, it glitched there - the cutscene kept going, but I was never able to return to my character - I had to actually exit out, and re-do the ENTIRE freaking level, only to have it happen AGAIN! ARGG! Absolutely rediculous.

There is no excuse for crap like that. It wouldn't bother me so much if I were able to save right before it - but since you have to re-do the entire level, its' just outright abnoxious.

On the plus side - the game IS fun, and the mindless "bashing a million orcs" can set the mood if you just want some quick action. The coolest part about this game is probably just the sheer number of enemies on your screen when your battling. It's like Serious Sam, only in 3rd person.
But because the gameplay is so easy and brainless, you do have to take a break every 15 min.

The graphics are pretty good. The character details and lighting is above average. The sound is also good. The enviroments and levels could use alittle more help, but it's not bad at all really.

Besides the saving woes - the game pretty fun, but not worth buying. - perhaps just borrow it from a friend and test it out.

One of da best beat `em up games

Action packed, hack `n slash. This game is action packed and has you running between objectives, slaughtering
urak hai and alot of other evil creatures from tolkiens masterpiece at the same time.If you are a fan of the LOTR games you will definitly enjoy The Return of The King. The battles are much more nerve wrecking then the last two games so you are garunteed to be glued to the screen for a few hours.I love this game, but it sometimes gets annoyng because of the lack of check points. But all in all this is a great game and will keep you very happy and content untill the film comes out.

The two towers was a great game. This one is better! The levels are harder but the coop is very fun. Co-op gives this game a 5 out of 5 by itself. The only downside of the game is some of the camera angles. A must have!

Looks like the lord of the rings fliks have made dungeons and dragons cool again.....This game is ten times beter than last years hack and slasher. Like the two towers Return of the King has an introduction level which is helms deep! How cool is that helms deep, minas tirith and the pellenor feilds all on the one game. Return of the King has 12 levels and nine playable characters including Aragorn, Gandalf, Legolas, Sam, gimli and unlockable characters Frodo, Merry, Pippin and Faramir. Another really impressive thing is the co-op mode. People will have hours of fun The game is split into three paths The hobbits path ,the Kings path and the Wizards path.Yep I said Wizards Path. On a single player level I found myself as Frodo kicking some orc ass while Gollum is sitting next to me and agues with himslf. Another cool thing about this game is that when you get bored of the hobbits path Go hang out with Gandalf or Aragorn.Something else has changed Orcs no longer stand around pateintly waiting for there turn to attack they just gang up on you but each character has a special attack to get rid of 'em. Up ahead I see a stack of burning spears well, it would be rude not too.... Just tap the R1 button and the bearded conjurer will pluck out spear and fire it at the nearest orc. I can't say it enough EA really know expolosions. The musical score is from the movie which undoubtfully impressive. This is a great game but it could improve. For example when they talk their mouths don't move and it isn't long enough but is a awesome title and at least deserves a rent.
Graphics: So cool you'll cry 10/10
Sound: Awesome score from the movie 10/10
Gameplay: Button Mashing but thats all you do 9/10
Elessars Verdict: 9/10

LOTR fan or gamer must have

This is an amazing game. Not only do you get a sneak preview for the movie, but you also get new interactive enviroment to play with(fire-spears, boiling water cauldrons to spill on you enemies etc). It is also two-player which is a huge bonus. You get six more characters than you got in The Two Towers. I got so absorbed in the game that I beat it three times faster than The Two Towers, despite it being much harder and somewhat longer! Buy It!!!!!

This game has stunning graphics, excellent AI, great multiplayer fun, many unlockable things and characters, and is going to keep you playing for quite some time. This is probably my favorite game right now that I received for Christmas. I'd recommmend it to anyone. You don't need the other games to enjoy this one. I'd recommend this one in a heartbeat. If you have money burning a hole in your pocket, this game will not jip you.

Awesome Game!!!

I would definitely rate this game higher that The Two Towers. The graphics are superb. Gameplay, excellent. Storyline, 10 out of 10. And, my personal favorite, sound effects.
Not only the music, but the crunching sound of orcs under your blade, and the roar of Saruman's concotion exploding with a fire-arrow are especially wonderful. I'd have to say that ROTK is much more interactive then TTT. Nonetheless, it is a hack 'n slash game. You will find several wanted features in ROTK. For instance, Online Play and multiplayer options definitely beat many third-person fighting games. The best character is either Aragorn or Gandalf. graphics are not half as choppy as on TTT. You'll love it. The only bad aspect of the game is that you can't move the camera around. you will probably find camera angles to be a nuicance. Overall rating: 4 out of 5. Buy it.

This game was amazing!. You Play as Aragorn,Legolas,Gimli, gandalf,Sam,Frodo. When you beat the game you unlock two secrets levels three interviews and 3 characters (1 of them is Pippin! The other two you can get yourself!)
The levels are much larger than its predesesor the two towers. The game is more challenging but with the same beat em' up style play! Graphics are much improved from TTT. The levels you play are - The Road to Isenguard - Minas Tirith Top of the Wall-Minas tirith Courtyard - - Paths of the dead - King of the Dead - The southern Gate - Pellenor Fields - The Black Gate - - Escape frome Osgiliath - Shelobs Lair - Cirith Ungol - THE CRACKS OF DOOM! Thank you for reading my review.
