This is the best game of the whole trilogy

This game is the greatest. It is fun, exciting and challenging. I downloaded the demo and was amazed. I clicked play and thought that the movie was playing. When you play as Gandalf, you can use his staff to send missels of fire at enemiee. Also, you can charge it up and slam it into the ground- causing attacking enemies to fall. But, I would much rather have it for playstaion 2 because the controls would be easier to control than using a keyboard.
The enemies are much stronger and smarter. The goblins attack with shields out, plowing you out of the way. The Urk-hai are much harder to kill because of srong armor. They attack in groups- rather than one by one elimination. Even the trolls are smarter!
All in all, with combined life like graphics, excellent AI, and supurb game play, this is the greatest game I have ever played. I would buy this in the blink of an eye.

This game is exactly like the Two Towersgame except that it has improved on many levels. In this one you are required to play the game through 3 different paths. You get to play the game as either Aragorn, Legolas or Gimli as they go off on their own battle , then you have to play the game as Gandalf as he goes through his own wizard path and then finally you have to defeat the game as the Hobbits Sam and Frodo! Each of the 3 different paths all end up at the same place in the end and the journey that gets you to the end is unforgettable. The Graphics are to die for and the voice-overs and Sound Effects are excellent too. My favorite part about this game is that there are so many complex things going on around you in the background as you play. For example: when you are in the first level that you play as Sam and Frodo you are running through this blown-up castle and there's bricks and fire and smoke everywhere. And as you are running around killing the enemies you see the Dragon flying by in the sky and you see pieces of brick and buildings crumbling at your feet and all around you. The only gripe I have about this game is the same one I had about Two Towers. And that is that even on Easy it is a very difficult game and it's also very dark all the time too. After an hour of playing my eyes and hands hurt so bad because of all the darkness and the thousands of enemies that attack you at every turn. You do have to do a ton of fighting, it gets tedious and stressful at times, but once you beat the level you feel as if you earned the victory. I highly reccomend this wonderful game, I've played every video game that has ever been made and this one ranks as #1. No joke, it's the best video game that has ever been created!

I'm a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings, whether it be the wonderful novels by J.R.R. Tolkien or Peter Jackson's Godly film adaptations. I loved The Two Towers game which came ut last year, but it lacked multiplayer and replay value. The Return of the King completely made TTT like a kids game.
1. Better graphics!
2. Amazing film footage/cutscenes.
3. More playable characters besides Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli like Gandalf, Sam, Frodo.
4. Awesome upgrades! Like where Aragorn knocks down his opponent then pulls out his Elven knife Celeborn gave to him. Awesome!!
5. Interactive environments! You can throw spears and fire catapults!
6. Co-op mode! Play with a friend and kick some orc butt together!
All in all a FANTASTIC game and a must have for all LOTR fans.

THE BEST PS2 GAME EVER!!

This is a must have for all LOTR fans. The Two Towers game was awsome, but TROTK redefined awsome! Don't listen to anyone who said negative stuff about it. If you kind of liked TTT, you would LOVE TROTK.

Excellent game, and a must have for LOTR fans

This was not my first option to rent when I went to Blockbuster, but I already owned The Two Towers, so I figured it had to be pretty good. I started playing and the graphics are REALLY, REALLY, REALLY good. You can play as nine characters: Frodo, Sam, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Gandalf(!), Merry, Pippin, and Feremir. I have already fully upgraded Legolas and Aragorn to their extent, but it only took me a few days. Also, this is a good game to buy if you like being able to back to levels you have already beaten, and still use the same character. What I mean is, you can do levels as many times as you want! You only need one thing: a partner. Thats right. This game features Co-op or 2 player gaming. You simply choose it on the menu, and you start from the first level in the path of the king. When you move on, you can repeat the levels with the same characters! I upgraded Aragorn and Legolas by doing "The Southern Gate" repeatedly with them. Now, in one player, I can get a Perfect on that mission with Legolas. A great buy, and especially good as a gift.

LOTR the best one yet

This game is one of the best I'v ever played. I'd give it a 9 out of 10! Unlike the two towers, the return of the kings lets you play as gandolf, sam, and frodo. Each character has it's own specil ability. For example: Gimli can have super strength for a small period of time, sam can cloak himself with the ring for a while. Gandolf is the best character to use.

Pros: Great characters, longer levels, chalenging, and has a multi player.

Cons: Sometimes it's hard to find your character, and you can't jump.

Bottom line: Unless your poor, get this game!

I LOVE THIS GAME

This is the coolest game i've ever bought, the co-op mode makes it really unique. The money is definetely worth it if you're an LOTR fan.

I suck at gaming, so I was challenged by this game and still have not completed it. But if you are a great gamer you will easily breeze through this game.

Graphics:Exellent!

Animation:Perfect. The animations don't make you feel like there aren't any at all, yet the game is not so animated that you feel like you are playing a game based on a walt disney movie.

Game play: The best! The game is divided into three paths: Path of the King, which gives you a choice of three characters to play as: Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli.
The Path of the wizard, wich allows you to play as Gandalf.
There is also The Path of the Hobbits, which you may play as Sam (and later Frodo, when you unlock him). There are also hidden characters, which I do not know because I have not unlocked them yet, but I am pretty sure they are Faramir, Pippin, and Merry (There is a chance one of them is Eowyn).

Multiplayer: Okay, once you get around the fact that you must complete the Crack of Doom in single player before you can play any levels other than The Paths of the Dead, The King of the Dead, The Southern Gate, and Pellenor fields.

Altogether, this is a pretty good game, and I reccomend it most to those of medium gaming abilitys.
