That makes sense...

Personally, this game is pretty sweet (at least the demo is). Just an FYI, commerce is all about making money... a lot of money. Their goal is to have the majority buy an item. Their goal is NOT to achieve a level of discipleship with a small band of fanatical gamers....

Again, just an FYI

No Medal of Honor, but...

This is a fun game, but not realistic, if that matters to you. No weapons recoil is a pretty basic omission that makes things feel artificial. Also, it's way too easy to snipe an enemy at a long distance. Just fire off a burst with your M-16 and he'll go down. I also wish that Novalogic would add more helpful health status. Your health meter is just an outline of a soldier that is green at full health and turns red as you take damage. Hard to assess how much life you have left. Last gripe - limited saves. If I want to save every 5 seconds, let me!

On the good side, furious action and an immersive environment. Your ammunition is limited, so you must plan your targets carefully. Unlike a lot of FPS games, if you just run in guns blazing you'll wind up dead very quickly. Good overall balance.

A lot of people are saying you need a very fast machine to run this game, but I'm playing it just fine at 1024x768 on my P3/600 with a TNT2 32MB video card. I had to install directX 9 to get it to run, but it works fine. I have graphics settings at the normal level at most, but it's playable.

Departure from previous versions

It seems NovaLogic has opted to take the DF series in a different direction than it has been. With BHD, the series is becomming more "arcadsy" where you can take multiple hits, find health & ammo powerups, and the emphasis is on fast reflexes instead of patience and fore-thought. Overall, it's a fun game, and I found it worth the money. But it's a much different style than the DF that I've thoroughly enjoyed over the years.

Pros: Graphics and "ambiance" are fantastic--lots of detail. More realistic AI (not that they're terribly bright, but they're more accurately depicted with swarms of badguys rushing you). The miniguns are a blast to fire. More "realistic" weapons loadouts.

Cons: No Co-op mode in multiplayer. Stray from the waypoints and your mission is over. Similarly, being FORCED to man a .50 or mini-gun for portions of a mission even when mobility or another weapon would be a better choice. Fairly one-dimentional missions. Being able to take multiple AK hits (i.e., character is too tough). Finding instant health and ammo power ups lying around (i.e., too "arcadsy"). Almost no missions where patience, planning, etc. play a part--pretty much all rush in and kill everything (don't know about others, but I tend to like sniping and/or patiently moving through an area picking off enemies efficiently--very little opportunity for that in this game).

Worth buying

Ive only played the multi player demo, which is fairly enjoyable, but i think this is going to be one of those games where the single player version is going to rock! Download the multi player demo and the movie of the single player version on the Nova Logic website and decide for yourself. I am totally baffled though, as to why Red Storm Entertainment didnt jump all over this. They really could've done something with the Ghost Recon engine.

Delta Foce - Black Hawk Down

Delta Force - Black Hawk Down lets you experience missions similar to those encountered by U.S. Special Operations Forces in Somalia, 1993.

Delta Force - BHD is a First Person Shooter which takes you on a realistic simulation of what the troops had really encountered in 1993. You can ride on either helecopters (also the Black Hawks), and the humvee. Use a arson of weapons the game offers you from SAWs to CAR-15s and also the occasional sniper rifle is availiable too for your use.

Theres some good and bad things that this game has, so I'll go over them:

Overall pros:
-Awesome Graphics
-Realistic weaponary
-great level design
-Can walk around with your gun's sight up
-No recoil with makes shooting your gun easier

Multiplayer Pros:
-Great with lots of people
-Get to experience the game with people and multiplayer maps
-a wide variety of multiplayer maps

Multiplayer Cons:
-You get killed too often so that will seem to get annoying
-People sometimes cheat
-One Novaworld account per CD key

Overall Cons:
-Your AI troops are VERY annoying and stupid
-The Enemy AI are better than your own troops
-Either too much or not enough medipaks

Dispite all the cons, the game might not seem worth it, trust me, it is. Once you get your hands on a copy of this game, you'll know it was your money's worth.
The Mission editor is another plus. Once you learn how to use it, you'll never stop. Create upon dozens of missions and see what your imagination can offer you

Slow MO

I'am reluctant to say this game disapointed me. I own both delta force games prior to this one and they too were not that great.
I have a 1.6 ghz computer with AMD Athlon and 386mgs. of SDRAM along with a NVIDIA 32MB video card. DFBHD suffers from bad lag.
the normal requirments are atleast a 32MB video, but iam not going to buy a faster one just cuase this game is slow. the other delta force games were also slow on other computers I tried. To say the least Iam not going to purchase a nother game from novalogic. they have still yet to get back to me about fixing the slowness on BLACK HAWK DOWN. I have yet to play the game without giving up because it is to slow to play. MAYBE someone has a suggestion?

BEWARE: NO CD KEY

BEWARE: Novalogic is shipping copies of Black Hawk Down without the CD KEY. If you get a copy without the CD Key you can't play the game. If you bought the game online, you can't just take a quick trip to the store to have it replaced either. because of this, I do not recomend this game, and I especialy don't recomend buying it online. Novalogic will make you send in the CD case via snail mail, and then you need to wait for them to send you a key. I am a big fan of Amazon, but not a fan of Novalogic. Amazon is as much a victim here as the buyer. Nonetheless, think twice before you buy.

Nova boooooo

I have all of Nova games- Compared to Ubi Soft this game is a joke. While everyone else out there is moving forward with
game engines like the Unreal gaming engine, Nova does not spend
much money at all to make a more pleasurable gaming experience.
Black Hawk Down has unrealistic scale, accuracy is [bad], an if
you get more than five people in a multiplayer game forget about
automatic weapons, they will lagg the game into oblivion!

JUST PLAIN AWESOME

This is going to be one of those break-through games. There I said it. If you want a Great First Person Shooter look no further. I have been playing the multi-player Demo now for a couple of weeks and am already addicted! If you have not tried it go to Novalogic or almost any other Game Review site for the download and give it a try. As always, the better your hardware, the better your gaming experience. 16 and 32 MB Video Cards will struggle with the detail of this one. Now is the time to upgrade to that 64 or 128 MB Video Card!! The texture and sound of this game is simply amazing! Not only can you fight on foot or as a group but also from helicopter and hum-v!! The demo is great and just wait for the finished game!! I have mine pre-ordered and cant wait! I dont understand the small amount of negative feedback for the theme of the game. People who give grief to Novalogic for the games theme say nothing to themes of WWII, Desert Storm, Afganistan etc... Oh well, cant please everyone. Try the Demo, I bet you will come back to Amazon for next months release!!

Mediocre OK Game, Not too tough on resources

First off, although I work on computers gaming is not my thing. If my tech bretheren and I game it's usually to relieve stress and this FPS is not bad. We originally bought it to attempt to host across the internet by straight IP but you can only choose to use a local LAN on the same subnet or connect to NovaLogics host. This was a disappointment.

Second issue for gaming is that it is designed for large groups and the maps are huge...2 persons are going to have a tough time on this one.

On the bright side, the game was pretty good on older equipment and newer laptops which made it a pleasure to play. Team action and graphics were pretty good from the FPS perspective.

Was it worth $20 for both BHD and Team Sabre? Maybe but I would rather have paid 10-15
