Fascinating to see planted reviews

Often times I have been amazed to read 5 star reviews for truly awful games. I have always viewed them with suspicion but allowed for the possibility of some folks simply having different tastes. This is why I found the reviews for Major League Baseball 2K6 so facinating. This is a game that is defective and due to the defect, freezes. So, even if someone has very low standards, they could not honestly give a defective game 5 stars. Well, take a look at the 5 star reviews here and you can finally see proof that there really are planted, fake reviews. Call me naive for needing this type of evidence, but guess I am too much the optimist. Now, who do we think planted them? lol

It doesnt work!

Seriously. For me and many, MANY other people the game just doesnt work. It freezes all the time. The company that made this game even admitted to it.

Don't even bother. The chances of the game working for you are remote, and you could very well end up wasting sixty bucks.

HORRIBLE

So here it is boys and girls, if your like me you have waited months on end for a baseball game to come out and start the new season. I don't know where you may live, but in Connecticut during the summer all we do is watch the Mets and Yanks and others till 1 in the morning and then play MVP till the sun comes up. Well being that there is no MVP we were a little cautious to say the least. Yet the avid baseball fans we are we jumped at the first sight of a game to come out on the 360. Just imagine High Def baseball on the 360... it was suppose to be a dream come true. It has been nothing, but a complete nightmare! I can't tell you how dissapointing this game is, complete and utter waste of everyones time and money. Not just from the stand point of of buying and playing the game, but from making it to marketing it to the kids that just play it for 2 minutes on the xbox 360's in the stores. The graphics, OH MY GOD, it makes a game of tic tac toe on a piece of paper look better. Not one player looks like they do in real life! Not one! Don't get me started on the gameplay, trying to figure out how to swing and pitch is like trying to dismantle an atomic bomb! As for the High Def aspect of the game, unless you count the intro video which is all of a minute long... that's it! The players SUCK, the gameplay SUCKS, the screens SUCK, the announcing SUCKS and not the mention non of the ball parks look anywhere close to what they really do for some reason Shea Stadium has a milion diffrent color blues on thier outfield wall... where did they get that from? Oh yeah and somehow Jose Guillen will be introduced at bat and while walking up to bat will change into a completely diffrent player. I mean they couldn't even take the time to get all of the player pictures into the game there is atleast 40 to 50 high end players in the game that have computer generated pictures... is it that hard to pull up a picture of them on MLB.com and cut and paste it into the game programing or are the interns too busy playing MVP 05' wondering how to make a real game where you can learn how a slider slides and a cut fastball cuts and how a 12-6 curve drops and dosnt just jump from the top of the screen to the catchers mitt without a trace. It is almost near impossible to play this game, if it wasn't the only MLB game on the market I would never play it in the first place! The people that made this game and the whole 2k whatever need to really get thier cards in order here if they have any hope of making money off this game in the oncomming years, they really want to show Madden up by buying out the baseball catalog and being the only ones able to make a MLB game well damn as far as I know that dosn't give you the excuse to throw garbage on the shelves and think it will sell. This is really really really REALLY sad! Anyone that has anything to do with this game should be fired and not only never get a job in this industry again, but not get a job period for how they massacured this genre! Hate to say it but I saw this comming and I still bought it cause everyone said no no no it's gonna be good... Garbage as far as I'm concered ill use the 60 dollar case to this game I bought as something to break my weed up on! Save your money, get a haircut and feel better about it!

I have a Premium system, so I didn't own a memory card. MLB2k6 had a bug that caused a REGULAR (as in every time I played) crashes. I didn't have internet at the time and couldn't download the patch, so the only solid solution was to buy a memory card. Of course, about 2 weeks after that, we FINALLY got internet (3+ months of waiting for the install) and was able to download to patch. I downloaded the patched and it hasn't crashed anymore. It is still buggy though. Bad rush job, but good game overall.

Like all the others, I bought this movie on the 11th and returned it on the 12th. The game froze up on me. Worse, the controls are so confusing that it gives me a headache. This one game may push back the advancement of the X-Box 360 for at least a year. At least the people gave me a full refund. I used it to buy last year's far superior original X Box game. If you have last year's 2k or MVP, keep it. Skip this piece of junk. I don't think I will buy a 2k game ever again.

Okay, I'm going to be the light at the end of the tunnel. I've been playing the "MVP" series since the fall of the "High Heat" series. When moving from High Heat to MVP everything about MVP just wasn't as good as High Heat! Eventually, MVP became my game of choice and I couldn't remember what I liked so much about High Heat. MVP 2005 was incredible! So, like everyone else I wasn't very happy to see 2K trump the giant EA Sports...though you have to kind of laugh at the irony. After reading Amazon reviews I really didn't want to buy MLB2K6. Why did I? It's the only game in town for XBox360. The result...I love this game! It definitely took some getting used to! There are some pretty poor animations, but then again there are some really excellent ones. I think the game has a great feel to it as well. I've never had a lock-up. I haven't reached the end of a season so I don't know anything about the offseason play, but I'm really enjoying my season and all there is to do within. The controls take a bit of getting used to, but once you get the hang of it they provide a great deal of freedom. I would be interested to see the people who gave it such poor reviews to re-review it after playing it for a month, instead of straight out of the box. I think the reviews would improve consideribly.

Big Time Dissapointment

I like most everyone else, loved the MVP series, and was dissapointed to hear that they weren't making an 06 version. However, I promised to keep an open mind when deciding on 2k6 this year. First off, the game's release was delayed and delayed on Gamecube, I don't even know if it even wound up coming out for Gamecube. I wound up renting it for XBox and playing it on my friend's Xbox. After not liking it after playing two games with my friend, I recently rented it for XBox 360 and decided to give it another try. Guess what? It still sucks. Here's why.

Camera Angles- I'm a college student, so I'm not old by any stretch of the imagination, and I have great vision. Perfect vision. However, it's such a strain to see the ball coming out of the pitcher's hand. The ball is a very very very tiny spec coming out of the pitcher's hand no matter what camera angle, or zoom setting you have it on. Trust me, I tried them all.

Baserunning System- For those of you who got used to the easy baserunning system implemented by EA Sports this system is a travesty. The baserunners always run when you don't want, and you have to have a phd in nuclear physics to get it right. It's unbelievable that something like that got into the game.

Hitting- As someone said in an earlier review. A Home Run feels the same as a single. It seems like hitting a home run, and getting a pop out to the catcher have about the same feel. It's always a surprise, that's for sure.

What's good about this game? Well..I think the little nuances to this game are good, like the pre-game reports, the transition graphics(yea, I know I'm reaching here), the GM mode is pretty good, however the font on the menus is near un-readable. The commentary by Jon Miller and Joe Morgan is amazing. It's amazing that someone finally got it right with the announers in a video game, but it's a shame it was wasted on something like this.

Overall, it's a great dissapointment, if I had to give it a letter grade, I'd go with D+. I don't know what I'm gonna do with myself since I won't have a baseball game to play this season, but I'll probably just start football season VERY early.

Please bring back MVP Baseball

I will keep it simple...
The Good:The game freezes up and you can't play it for long.
The Bad:EVERYTHING !!!!

Easily the worst baseball game ever made, when it is not freezing youre hoping it will. The fielding is beyond bad.Players switching is laughable and dont even get me started on running the bases or hitting...luckily you cannot give out a zero mark so it has to get 1 star.

Terrible
