Unfortunate

First off the game freezes, you can follow the tips on the 2K6 message boards but eventually the game will freeze again. I took my copy back and got a full refund, hopefully other people will be so lucky.

For posterity here's my take on the game on the few games I played. The batting and pitching systems were very good. I could tell that is was going to take a little while to learn the nuances but I enjoyed them. That said the fielding and camera angles available are terrible, not only is it hard to move your fielders but the view is zoomed in too much.

I was exicted about the baserunning system but in use it didn't work all that well. Maybe if I had some more practice with it...

Whatever, don't buy it, don't rent it.

best baseball game but freezing makes it bad

i think its the best baseball game besides some things mostly freezing in offline play but there will be a patch soon to fix that mvp fans get over it i was the biggest mvp fan but you cant do anything about that this is the only xbox/xbox360 game now and its good its much better then 2k5 so i dont no what you people are sayin theres just a couple things that need to be inproved.
pros: good graphics new feature swing stick the new pitch interface are great very good gameplay great looking ballparks pretty good looking player models almost every new feature in this game is great.
cons: when you warm up a pitcher it doesent show them warming up in the bullpen and im not to hot for the fielding when you field a ball it not so realistic cause you field the ball and as soon as you get it if you hit a button to throw it to a base he the fielder who fields the ball doesent really wind up to throw he kinda flips it but over all a good game if 2ksports fixes a couple things for next years version it will be the best ever.

EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTED!!!

All this hype and the only 360 baseball game, and 2K drops the ball. This game is awful. The graphics are nothing close to what it was claiming to have. Fielding is slow and choppy. Throwing is unrealistic. Overall gameplay is pathetic. Rosters are terrible. There are a few good things, the crowd and stadiums are pretty good. Overall, the game isn't worth your money. I took mine back. It's a sad excuse for a baseball game, and the only option they give us this year. And I haven't even mentioned the freezing issue and the way 2K handled it. Here's hoping we get MVP back next year!

MLB 2K6 essentially unplayable due to Horrible Base Running AI

Please don't buy this game. While it does offer a fun interface for pitching and interesting mechanics for batting, any player will become extraordinarily frustrated with the baserunning AI. I'm not talking about your opponent. I'm speaking of trying to control your own team. Picture yourself in desperate need of one run. You've managed to place a runner on second base. For some unknown reason he's going to come home on any grounder hit by an infielder. He'll be thrown out at the plate most likely. You're going to try and take control of him and make him retreat to third, but you'll probably be unsuccessful. So while you may feel proud of yourself for figuring out you have to pull back on the right analog stick and not release until the ball passes in front of your batter in order to produce hits, you might find yourself a little upset about the wasted time you invested in playing this game as inning after inning ends in baserunning errors by your team of choice. There is no downloadable patch coming. Just don't buy this game. The game produces gray hairs on young men and women. Avoid it like the plague.

This game is hard, but it is also just so stupid that even after you figure out how to play it you still don't have fun. I wish I still had my Xbox so I could play MVP baseball. This goes down as the only game ever to make me cry and vomit.

STOP!!!!!! Don't buy this!!!

Seriously thrown together and full of issues including video skipping ,total game freezing, horrble AI, custom soundtracks not working again! Some of the worst controls and stiffness to them. Total Garbage I bought this sight unseen because old version was so good I figured even if it was the same on the 360 it would look nicer, nope all garbage.!!! definitely not next gen gaming. Take the $60 you would have spent on this and buy an extra controller or some faceplates or more important start saving for the PS3 because as of yet 360 and all its games are not exciting and not worth it.

Ok I bought this game yesterday. I felt as if it did not do all the hype justice but on the other hand it is a really captivating game and does not bore u easily. I have this friend and he hates baseball completely(I dont understand how) but he loves the game (I can see how) and it just goes to show u that it is a really great game

I was amazed at the detail of this game. A must for the baseball fans with the Xbox 360.

To start off, just a heads up, you can get this game at Best Buy for $19.99. Which I did. And i still feel ripped off. God what an awful game. If you set some settings say in Franchise mode, they will not be saved no matter how hard you try and will have to set them again everytime you play the game. As someone else said, the only good thing is the pitching. Oh awful awful batting camera. Its not so bad if you have a 42 inch plasma but if you have something like a regular 19 inch TV, you can't see squat. Awful fielding and fielding cam. Bad interface throughout. Truly a bad, bad game.

Not great, but not as bad as others have stated...

MLB 2K6 has phenomenal pitching controls, and that part of the gameplay in general is good. Strike out a batter, and he might throw his helmet, or you might see a slow-mo replay of his final whiff.

2K6 can be, at times, just as if you're watching the game on television... the realism is sometimes quite good. Many times, the gameplay is so engrossing that it makes up for obvious flaws. Other times, 2K6 can be quite... frustrating, and nothing abut the game seems worth it.

I experienced the freeze problem that other reviewers are talking about, and I discovered that you can't use the 'Zone' pitching interface, or the game will randomly freeze after cut-scenes. The distributor is officially silent on this matter, but once I finally contacted support, my suspicion was confirmed.

There's also a lack of good online play which is quite frustrating.

Manual fielding is a tragedy, and often can cost you games or outs that a real player would have had for sure. Move to the classic controls, and batting makes perfect sense. Swing Stick adds nothing to the game but complexity.

I'm glad this game wasn't a $60 purchase (I'd have returned it if it were), but I have fun with it on occasion.
