Halo 2.5 Anyone?

2 Rating: 2, Useful: 2 / 2

So, I played Halo 2 multiplayer like it was crack, damn good crack at that. Loved it, couldn't get bored or enough of it, chasing my dragon of H2 multiplayer. Halo 2, let alone the series, was never known for it's single player campaign so didn't expect much out of its sucessor so I was surprised when the single player was worse than I expected. Story wasn't too good, ending left me kinda confused & kinda frustrated I just spent hours of my life on this. No worries right? I bought it for multiplayer, but no I found myself in deja vu. Did I mistakenly buy halo 2 again and just not realize it? I must have, otherwise it would be much better...

The forge is cool for sure, the graphics are kinda better (I have HD so don't tell me I didn't fully experience it, look at GeOW, COD4, Mass Effect, Asassins Creed, Bioshock, the list goes on... and then try to tell me why Halo 3 is even made for a next gen console???). The multiplayer is a smoother interface overall no doubt, the weapon balance is tweaked for the better, I'm so glad they brough back the assault rifle but they effed it up and made it as powerful as a supersoaker, and the deployable weapons are fun, but it's just Halo 2 the way it should have been the first time if it wasn't rushed. So you say why mess with a good thing? Well, if you're not going to mess with it why are you making a sequel? OH that's right, you just want my $60 and to make me never buy a game from you again. Congratulations, you've succeeded. For shame bungie, serves you right for partnering with m$...

Seriously though, I think the overhype kinda killed it for me too. I mean Halo cereal?? Honestly?? Halo is a well established trademark, so of course they aren't going to mess with the basic gameplay and risk upsetting the core halo fans. I understand that this was mainly just to keep the fans playing for years to come and I would have been one of them if it was done even slightly better and maybe with a little more class. Can you honestly make a game with so many fans that has a storyline no one will really get unless you read the "books" as well? Apparently so.

All the improvements to multiplayer still don't make up for the lag, the little green lights that lie to you and say everythings OK when it lags even more, and the small maps oriented towards cheating FFA 12-year olds. If they were shooting for the lowest common denominator they are dead on. The forge, theater, etc. shouldn't have taken 3 years to implement let alone require a new game. So whats that mean? bungie/microsoft give us mediocrocy at best (probably know it too), take our money and then gloat about it.

Bottom line: I don't think I've ever been as excited for a great sequel and been as sorely dissapointed as I have been from this.

ehh...its ok

The story mode was pretty cool, but way to short. Took me 3 hours on normal to beat it. The 4 player coop was fun, but you have to put a party together yourself, which is just stupid. The multiplayer was cool. Way to many glitches though. Save 60 dollars and wait for the price to come down, or, at least, buy it used and save a few bucks. Not worth 60. Not even close. Have a good one.

Halo 3 was an awesome purchase and totally worth every penny. The story line is great and it wraps everything up from the two previous games. The campaign is fun, but the mulitplayer is really where it's at. The enviroments are intruiging and exciting with every twist and turn. The newly introduced items give the game an entirely new demension that I believe everyone will come to love and enjoy. The game is fun for LAN parties and is a great game for online play.

so much for "finishing the fight"

To start off I'd like to say that I'm a Halo nerd, in every sense of the word. I got posters, got the soundtracks that i listen to pretty much everyday, I've read the books (fall of reach, the flood, first strike, ghost of onyx) excluding Contact Harvest, which I cant wait to read :) I got some action figures of halo 2, plan on getting all the ones of Halo 3 >_< I played the games Halo and halo 2 literally hundreds of times! I JUST LOVE THIS GAME!!! Soo, then halo 3 comes out and blows me away! I love the story, although it seems really short, but I'll get to that in a minute. I love the new weapons especially the assault rifle, I've always loved that gun, just sucks it only holds a measely 32 rds. but not a big deal, the new vehicles are awesome :) oh and lets not forget the new equipment, such as the infamous bubble shield seen in the best halo 3 trailer "starry night" and a bunch of other nifty toys each with their own tactical purpose/advantage that balance out the overwhelming odds you have to deal with at times. Now, if you've not read the books then what i'm about to say wont matter to you but to me, having read all the ones listed above it's very disappointing to not get to play as/with the other spartans that are "supposedly" in the story line. b4 halo 2 came out i thought to myself, damn theres gonna be all these big battles and such, it might just be "TOO" big of a fight even for the MC but nope he handles them all, no questions asked soo ok maybe not in halo 2 but in halo 3 you've gotta show them at one point seeing how big of a threat the prophet of truth presents aswell as the flood. but again I'm disappointed in that aspect...sooo what the hell.....will we ever see the other spartans? I would name them but it escapes me right now to name them unless I look it up in the book, but unfortunately cant find it right now, sorry :( The graphics i thought were top notch, expecially the cutscenes they definately cleaned up theyr act from h2 where when a cut scene appeared it seemed to fill in some object here and there, that was really annoying and gave the game and unfinished feel. but not h3 very nice!!! I love the cg scenes, very much like a painting in motion, just awesomeness :)

all in all the story wraps up nicely...also if you want to know the true ending you have got to watch past the credits...nuff said on that :)
In the end I give it 5 stars because I freaking love halo and everything about it, even though the story lacks a certain closure if you will and leaves unfinished business every where, but HEY maybe there will be another sequel to tie up its loose ends. Maybe its just wishfull thinking but I'm hoping for the best.

I played this game on heroic on the first run through, took me about 12hrs. playing it on legendary right now, and have to admit, its really hard. :):):) I dont know if most ppl know this but you can turn on a "Point system" for campaign mode that keep track of your number of kill total and also of the number of say grunts, brute chieftains and the like you've killed and your total amount of points scored. thats pretty nifty....especially to quell any arguments of who is the baddest spartan on the block, lol. Well, I hope this review helped if not enlightened you a bit on h3 and it's predecessors :) have a good day!

Get this game.

Jaw dropping hi-def visual effects, amazing game-play, jacked up AI for the hardcore legendary players, the epic multiplayer that made its predecessor so great improved by hundred fold. This game is the epitome of FPS's. Get it, you won't be disappointed. And get Xbox Live, you literally will be glued for hours if you have the time.

haha awesome

Hands down best halo so far, who ever doesn't like this game probably is not very good at it, (dude I shot you so many times and you didn't die, this game is stupid I'm gonna go cry about it online). Multiplayer is flawless, graphics are great, sound is excellent. What more do you need than hours of killing each other online. So in conclusion, we all know a great game when we see one, don't believe the babies.

Same ol' thing

First, there is nothing this game can do to live up to the hype and the mass marketting and advertisement microsoft has put on it.

In itself its a good game, but not a huge leap from Halo 2 other than the graphics. Movement is fighting is unchanged (compared to Rainbow 6 Vegas) and most of the weapons are nothing more than graphic upgrades.

Playstyle is identical to Halo 2 with the addition of some CTF enhancements.

I wouldn't say I was disappointed with this game but its defintely not what its pumped up to be. Its just another FPS and I find R6 Vegas quite superior in gameplay, strategy and even at some points the story.

WOW, HALO IS BACK!

I guess I don't see the big deal about Halo. The story is lame, the graphics are mediocre... I bought this game because a friend is obsessed with it but I regret buying it.

Not all its hyped up to be!

to be blunt, this game sucks balls! The weapons are awful and the graphics are ok. The worst part of the game is you can't run, and the sights on the guns lack any control! The campain was fun for the first few hours, after that its all the same and gets boring fast. If you want a good game, go with call of duty 4! I havnt put it down since i got it.
