escaping from reality into the world of monkey island

since the advent of monkey island rpgs, it has never allowed its fans to be let down. With a strictly no-death policy, unless deliberate in monkey island 3, the antics and movements of the lovable Guybrush Threepwood and his amazing wit manage to hold the attentions of fans worldwide. It is obvious that monkey island 4 will be the same. With better animation than mk3, which was sadly still 2 dimensional.. mk4 will be 3-d and therefore packed with better graphics. Insults too, in the infamous battles will be bettered and funnier. It is a game suited not only for kids but for the general public. Even cynics will find fun in this witty game and its puzzles.

Wow!

Wow Lucas arts did it again. this game has almost all of your favorite charectars ( sorry) in the last 3 monkey islands. The 3D looks cool but the mouths don't move, something in 3D game that Lucas arts makes. The gameplay and storyline is awesome. Buy this game!

All of the Monkey Island adventure series are cool... they only get better with time and technology... Yet even the old classics are worth rediscovering if you've never played them. Check them all out. I also recommend LucasArts's Indiana Jones titles.

It's about time! After seeing the diminishing number of grpahic adventures over the past 5 years, it's great to see LucasArts is not ditching the category that made it famous. Seeing that The Curse of Monkey Island is the best computer game in the last ten years, at least, this game will no doubt blow us all away!

I dont know about you, but there was something missing in 3

I think there was something missing in CMI, and that was amusing credits, I dont know if any of you have done this, but watch the credits of any of the old Lucasarts games, there are lots of funny bits like "thanks to my mates dog" and stuff like that, but in CMI, there was nothing worth watching them for, and no good ending like "its now time to switch off your computer and go to bed".

Ok maybe im a sad git, but you come to expect these things when you have had them for 10 years :)

this game is called the last hope for adventure gaming, and hopefully it will lead to a new era for gaming It's guybrush in 3d! meet some old characters and a lot of new ones stop an old man namedozzie mandrill from turning pirate heaven into tourist attraction, STOP HIM FROM USING THE ULTTIMATE INSULT, an insult that will stop any pirate from ever raising the sword again, meet charles.l.charles, or lechuck, visit planet threepwood, meet murray again, escape from mnkey island , insult arm wrestling, dynamic water.DO IT ALL IN WONDERFUL 3D. Look ma, no mouse(no mouse needed to play the game, sadly)a better version of grim engine used, 3d accelerator required, guybrush alone has 1500 polygons.

Be a monkey island fan, do the monkey dance, play the efmi...

EMI - Is this a last try for the dying genre ?

Well, I don't think so. Escape from Monkey Island can make it alive again. It is the the title of fourth Monkey Island Game where updated Grim Fandango engine with elements of Obi-Wan engine is used to create interface and settings (It means that we won't use mouse anymore). There are over 60 auditioned voices. Some of them we have already heard (like Dominic Armato's). Some of them are used on "old" characters from MI1 and MI2.The humor is outstanding and music one of the best ever heard on computer. So, what are we waiting! Let's sail to the Carribean !!!

Looks like a GREAT game!

Let's be honest. Monkey Island 2 (MI2) was not much of a technological improvement from The Secret of Monkey Island (MI1). The Curse of Monkey Island (MI3) brought with it many things... much higher resolution, more colors, really good stylized animation... talented voice actors... the list goes on and on. There is still much debate over whether or not it was any better then the first two. (According to Lucasarts all three are liked more or less equally.) In any case, it was very different. Now Escape From Monkey Island (MI4) is coming out and it's taking a whole new direction. The graphics didn't particularly impress me at first... why 3D? Wasn't the series doing okay as it was? Why does Guybrush look like a character from Final Fantasy? Rather concerned, I checked out one of the short movies on the lucasarts web site. After watching that, I feel I can safely say that MI4 will (knowing Lucasarts) be very enjoyable. The 3D graphics don't really look right unless they are moving, and therefore no screenshot can really do this game justice.

For anyone who has played any of the earlier MI games, expect a lot of in-jokes, old jokes and good jokes. It seems that many of the characters and locations are going to be familiar.

If you haven't played any of the Monkey Island games before, then I'm sure you will be brought up to speed quickly, but I still recomend playing the other ones first.

Anyway, it looks as if lucasarts is about to finish yet another great game. I would recomend this highly just based on their consistantly great adventure games.

Arggggg! Be ye lookin' for a great computer game?

Well you've found one! Actually, you've found one of four! The Monkey Island games are by far THE best games that you could possibly find if you're lookin' for hillarious tounge in cheek humor and a great challenge. The fourth installment in this classic series promises to be one of the best; with blood thirsty pirates, insult arm-wrestling, schmear wizz, and a giant monkey head, all rendered in wonderful 3-D! If you're an old fan of the series or even a newcomer, ye sure to be lovin' Escape from Monkey Island!
