More like Giants: Citizen Kreative!

Giants: Citizen Kabuto is an amazing game. The gameplay has elements of other stategy war games but is otherwise entirely unique and creative. For all the times we wished the video game industry used their fricken brain, here lies a wish come true!

Giants opens the gaming genre to CREATIVITY! Most games are dark. Dark in color (because it's easier to hide everything in shadow instead of rendering everything with the lights on) and Dark in content (most game developers make dark games to try to be "cool" ) but this game left the lights on. The skies are the strangest, most unique thing in gaming. Odd, bright, rich colors that not only make it an alien planet, but a game that stands out among the dark crap. THese guys are artists and as with MDK they aren't afraid to play some scenes for laughs.

I wish all game developers were this brave and inventive instead of hiding behind their cowardly "Messiah" and "Duke Nuke'em" garbage.

Don't get me wrong, there's lots of well-placed action and violence, but they didn't lay it down as a foundation the way other games do.

For you hard-core gamers, the gameplay isn't perfect but it does hold up well. There seems to be some imbalances but I'd rather have the variety of races (they are so ridiculously different that they were probably hard to tune) to play around with than another Quake clone. When I play the 3 races I feel like I'm learning a whole new game. Kind of cool though, 3 games in one.

I haven't played the Network game yet but I'm looking forward to that in the final rev.

Giants is why I buy interactive entertainment. This will tide me over until Black and White comes out.

This game is amazing... even the title screen is cool. The scenery is beautiful, and the sun effects are awesome, but we know that graphics aren't everything. This game is so fun to play. The action is high-paced and non-stop. It's also hilarious. I have never laughed so hard while watching a cutscene in my life! Also, it feels so great when you are a Kabuto, and pick up a little sea reaper, and impale it on your horns and then eat. There are only two minor downsides. One, being the system requierments (sp?). They reccomend a P3 500 Mhz, and full install is 1.3 gig. The other downside is the 3d card difficulties, at least I had some. I had a Nvidia TNT2, but I got an error message starting up. All I had to do was upgrade to Nvidia TNT2 Ultra and now it works fine! These small downsides do not match up to the greatness of this game. If you haven't already, pick this one up now!

I can't contain the experience alone. Every one must know, they MUST you see?
I'm typically the type: the more gore, head kracking, and the darker and more evil a game the better. Well, here's Giants, possibly the funnest gaming experience I've ever had and it's Light hearted, but it's the funniest game ever. It's so masterly put together with all the perfect elements of twisted humor, Beautiful graphics and environments, different styles of gameplay within the game, staring at delphi's nude body...just delete or move the arpfix file in the bin folder to experience the sea reapers as they were meant to be. Quite possibly my favourite game ever. A winner in the Industry.

MyStats

.Beutiful Graphics, Amazing modeling work, Sharp textures.

.The Story. Oh god, I love it! The Plot is so perfect. Funny and I mean REALLY Funny, heroic, great combination of elements. Very original Scie Fi. I was completely emersed in these worlds.

.Environments are one of the most striking features here. Wow, 30 islands, each beautifully rendered and detailed. Fully emmersive and atmospheric.

.Sound. The music is outstanding, by Mark Snow, (X files, La Femme Nikita) and I mean it...It's THAT good. The sound effects and ambience is riveting.

.Gameplay. Fun. Very Fun. Pure energetic Fun.

One of the few titles I give 100 on a 1-5 scale

Beautiful, Unique and Very Odd Game

If you combined Salvador Dali's mind with that of General Powell's, you'd probably come up with something like "Giants: Citizen Kabuto." Odd, strange and wierd all describe it. But likewise, so does fun, entertaining and laugh-out-loud funny at times.

There are 3 different factions to play as: The Mercs, The Sea Reapers and the Giant Kabuto himself. With the Mercs, there are 5 guys, though you basically play as one of them with the other four tagging along and mimicking you -- there strength is in weapons and technology. The Sea Reaper is Delphi, a sort of mermaid like women with very strong magical powers. And Kabuto, who is raw strength and size.

If you've ever played Warcraft, Starcraft, or Command & Conquer, (RTS's) and Doom or Half-Life (first person shooters) you'll get a feeling for this game as it combines base building with first person shooter. But the big difference is that with each of the 3 factions in this game, the strategies and tactics required are TOTALLY unique. None are like the other two, and yet they are very well balanced and a blast to play.

Graphically, it's stunningly beautiful, as are the sounds and music. And you will laugh out loud at some of the cut-scene dialogues and you'll be wondering if the creators were part drunk when the put this all together. But it works very much in its favor. It's one of the top 10 games I've ever played, but it's definitely the most unique.

Wow! A game of such scope that it's mind boggling! So much thought and originality has gone into this game that when you play it you become aware that you're truly experiencing something on a different level, even outside the realm of videogames as we know them. Planet Moon is really trying something new here, and they deserve a lot of credit for coming up with the goods. This game fun, beautiful, hilarious, and an absoulte must!

Stunning and Demanding

This is the most visually stunning game I've ever played... period. The backgrounds are so engaging they're almost a distraction. The colors and textures are rich and beautiful. The lights and special effects are amazingly realistic. The characters are smooth and engaging.

I recently purchased one of the mnay Geoforce2 cards on the market this game plays like a dream. Upgrading from an older TNT2 made a tremendous difference. Giants seems custom made for the features of the Geoforce2 cards.

Giants has raised the bar in graphics and gameplay, which may strike some the wrong way. Those of you who with computers barely ahead of the obsolescence curve, might feel a bit left behind. Those of you who are still running on older video cards, like I was, might have some problems. Unfortunately, it's the nature of the beast.

Aside from graphics, Giants presents and engaging and hilarious story with excellent gameplay. Just when I felt I'd conquered one aspect, the game switches gears, races, or genres and suddenly becomes a new game. Giants hints at being a first person shooter, a racing game, a strategy game, and an adventure game. Unlike many games that have tried to combine different elements and failed, Giants makes each transition smoothly and succesfully.

So, the bottom line: if you have a newer computer with a decent video card, you will probably love this game. If you've been thinking of getting a new computer because your current one is lagging behind, you might want to reconsider purchasing Giants. Giants could still prove to be fun, but without the incredible graphics, you might feel that you're missing something.

Graphics 5/5 The Graphics in this game are quite frankly some of the most amazing I have ever seen. This game truly takes advantage of the wonderful Unreal engine.

Sound 5/5 The sound was original and memorable, and I especially liked the voice acting for Sappho and Baz. The weapons sound great and sometimes they even have a good twist of humor.

AI 4/5 The enemies were well done but sometimes a tad stupid and the problem is there is only one diffuculty setting. In other aspects they were quite adept at taking cover and sniping.

Replay Value 5/5 This game I could probably play in a airplane restroom for months at a time and still enjoy myself.

Weapons 5/5 Creative but conventional the weapons were fun to use and sometimes I would just shoot them off for fun. I especially like the sniper rifle and tornado spell.

Gameplay 5/5 With above elements mixed together this is like three great games in one well priced package.

Overall 5/5 I Love this game.

Giants is the perfect blend of fun, graphics, humor, and - well, it's just a great game. The graphics are impeccable, and they are good enough that they should still be top-of-the-line for a long time. Giants is not just eye-candy, it is also incredibly fun, no matter what interests a gamer has. If one likes strategy games - you can build a cool base, if one likes third-person shooters - this is better than any third-person shooter I know, and as for first-person - well, this game is beaten only by a great game of Counter-Strike online. Now, I am a jaded thirteen year-old, and not much amuses me, but the humor in this game is enough to cause a wholehearted chuckle. That is more than ANY other game has caused. Now, the other side of this game is the bugs. Yes, they exist. In fact, on my new 900MHz Athlon computer with a Vanta/LT 8MB video card, I was lucky to get over 5 frames per second at the lowest resolution and detail level; Giants was not playable. But after forking over $200 for a 64MB DDR ATI Radeon graphics card, I can run this at 1600x1200 resolution at 32-bit color depth with bumpmapping and reflective surfaces on and I get over 25 frames per second. Not perfect, but when I'm not too greedy, I can get silky smooth gameplay. Kudos to Planet Moon.

This is the first attempt at balanced multi-race mutli-player gaming. One has a big knife, one has a big gun, one is...well just big. He's 40 feet tall and 'sneak a snack' means you'd best watch your back at all times unless you like short baths in ketchup and soda. The 9/1998 press release says, "EAT, BURN, DROWN, KIDNAP OR BURY VICTIMS." Now, I don't actually requiring the digging a hole and shoving someone in, but being taken by surprise by a Reaper, or thrown into the air like popcorn, or just dropping to the ground due to a sudden loss of blood pressure for no reason (except that gaping would in your left side) may expand on the idea. Obviously ESRB rated M = Mature. However, the graphics are light when compared to Doom3, Half Life, or Alice by EA. Here are some more...
11/23/2004 NIMF (National Institute on Media and the Family) most violent games: Doom3, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Half-Life2, Halo2, Resident Evil Outbreak, Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy, The Guy Game, Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude, Mortal Kombat: Deception, and Rumble Roses.
11/23/2004 ICCR (Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility) most violent games: Doom3, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Half-Life2, Halo2, Manhunt, Mortal Kombat: Deception, Postal2, Shadow Hearts: Covenant, and Hitman: Blood Money.
I've given you a list to avoid, or to enjoy. You pick. I'm not even into first person shooters, but data is data.

The programmers are rumored to all be crazy, Scottish, or both, but seem to have taken up residence in San Francisco, further leading to the conclusion of crazy. You can clean up the swamps, bogs, etc., build a bridge, and great city, but the place is still a disaster. Why do you think the Southern half of Oregon and the most northern part of CA want to secede and form the new State of Jefferson? I think they need 400,000 people to do this...must be something in the water...but anyway... :)

This will run on WinXP, even though released in ~1998. 64MB of memory on the video card and 256MB on the m-board is still not enough if you want to turn up the shadows and rock'n roll. American Delphi copies come with a arpfix.gzp file. Multi-player is off the LAN (for best latency, use the cross over cable). Many single player chapters of hilarity, oh's, and ah's. Fly several hundred feet in the air, drive a boat, throw your enemy across the landscape into the next hill over, or view your prey from the 3rd person or "Kabuto Mouth-Cam". Build turrets, set land mines, collect peoples souls, or stick them to your belt and walk away so you can have a snack later. Games can't don't do this today!!! They were so far ahead of the crowd it was unthinkable. The fast & fun combo of 1st & 3rd-person, with building too is something that all the major distributors are aiming for. When you see Kabuto body-slam the player's base so hard the earth makes waves and all the other buildings jump, you know you found a winner! Again, in 2004 no one will even dare use different scale monsters until Lord of the Rings came out. Then, Blizzard tried it with World of War Craft. Wizards/Atari had Bio-Ware try and they made dragons that looked like they were all stuck in a subway car, just got packed out of a suit-case, or just plain squished in NWN (Never Winters Nights).

The distributor is Interplay. Titus hopped over the pond here, laid off the developers, boosted up production, kicked out the stock boys after it all shipped, stopped paying wages to customer service, tried to hide the liability and ran back home. The U.S. Gov't today is still trying to get the money back. But, they knew what they were after, crossing the Atlantic. Planet Moon Studios got this one right. nVidia supports the graphics. Creative and AMD are all built into it too.

If you didn't actually make it through all that: This is a really cool game. I bought it used on Amazon.com for less than the shipping. Yeah for Amazon.com!
