Zelda: Links Awakening is the best thing that ever happened to game boy, now in color! You can explore the huge world filled with puzzles, challenging boses, and fantastic levels. I definently recomend this game for anyone who is up for a challenge. Even if you are not very good at the puzzles you can buy the guide! This is the best game you will ever buy!

Gameboy has outdone itself this time!

The first game of the Zelda series that is made for Gameboy Color, The Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening DX is one of the most memberable Zelda games. This time, Link doesn't have to save the world, but rather himself! While Link is sailing on the ocean, his boat is struck by a lightning bolt, causing his ship to wreck.Tossed about in the water, he lands on an island. But since he has landed on the island, all he can think of is getting off of it! But the only way he can is to awake the Wind Fish by obtaining all the instruments of the Sirens. This game has an excellent game play, and story-line! It is worth every penny!

This was one of the best games that I've ever played. I recommend it to anybody who likes adventure! Make sure you don't hit the chickens unless they will attack you, and you can steal from the store, but don't go back unless he'll kill you. Have fun with this one!

Funny tips and tricks.

I had a lot of fun playing the non-color version of this game. Here are some funny things you can do. Hack at a chicken reapetedly until hundreds of indestructable chickens start pecking at you! Pick it up to make them go away. Try doing different things while Marin is following you. She will say some hilarous things! When you have the flying rooster, throw your boomerang,(if you can get it) then imediatly pick up the rooster. If you did it right, the boomerang will be hovering beneath you, killing all monsters that walk into it! I hope this review has been helpful to you.

The-Legend-Of-Zelda. Not even franchises like Mario Bros. of Final Fantasy will send shivers down your spine like Zelda (at least for me). Like nearly every Zelda game, this is a classic for tight control, deep gameplay, and a good helping of innovation. To this day it is amazing just how big this game is. First released in '93, the quest is HUGE. There was not one bit of simplifying for the meager 8-bit system.

Graphics- Amazing for its time, and still is. Now that it's in color, they look wonderful all over again. 10/10

Sound- Yes its on the terrible GB speakers, but the music is pretty decent (if a bit repetitive). 7/10

Gameplay- Simply put, everyone should at least give 2D Zelda a try. 9/10

Value- With tough puzzles, this game is very long. Has enough secrets to replay through few more times too. Again, has a lot of length to it. 10/10

Overall- 10/10
Of the Zeldas I have played, this is one of the best ones, second only to the awe-inspiring Ocarina of Time. Don't make your GB less worth it by NOT getting this game: a classic that has stood the test of time. Long live Zelda!

It was really good

It was a little hard and a little long for a bad ending.
Overall it was fun. A must if you're a fan of Zelda or an rpg fan. I loved it!

The Best of the Best

THE GOOD:
-Long, intricate, immersing gameplay and an submissive storyline.
-A long game which is a good thing for RPG fans!
-Total remake of the original classic with a dazzling new look!
-Not much has changed, the classic WAS a classic and it is best to leave alone!
-Excellent beginning/ending
-Zelda. Nuff Said.
THE BAD:
-Photo shop is kinda dumb but it adds a little more to an already excellent title.
-The bonus dungeon. Nuff Said.
-Can get fustratingly difficult, but it just makes you wanna play more!

SUMMARY:
Possibly one of the greatest Zelda games ever and the best game boy game to-date, Links Awakening is back with a new colorful style! With dazzling crisp display, even if you already own the classic Links Awakening, you should consider purchasing this game too because its like a totally new game with color.

Back in the day I remember getting the original gamboy for christmas and I got one game. Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening. As a little kid I did not quite appreciate the game as much as I do now. I will never forget this game and it will always remain my all-time favorite.

With its deeply immersing storyline and intricate detailed gameplay, Links Awakening DX is possibly the greatest RPG for the little handheld, and it proves that even though GB is small, it can still compete with the bigger and better systems when it all comes down to it.

The game can definitely get fustrating if you are stuck, but that just makes me want to play more and more. In addition, I dont know about you, but I like to keep classics a classic and the new dungeon level and photo shop are just plain dumb. So please let classics be classics and dont add or take elements from them.

In conclusion, the color addition is a dream come true. And Zelda: Links Awakening will always remain at the top of my list of must-have games.

I hope you found this review helpful.

Winner! Best Game Boy Game

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 1

Before Game Boy Advance, there was Game Boy. On Game Boy, there was Link's Awakening. The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening was the best game for Game Boy at the time, and still remains much more than a simple piece of nostalgia. Will Link's Awakening's graphics turn you off? They are still crisp today, and the color version should alleviate some of the dated aspects of LA's graphics, but don't expect 32-bit goodness that we might see in a GBA Zelda game. The sound is traditional Zelda fare with some now-classic tunes; this was the game that introduced the now popular "instrument" item that does neat stuff for you.

Make no mistake about it - Link's Awakening is a great game, a force to be reckoned with, and a savior for kids on long car trips. The puzzles in this game were particularly good, the storyline was new and refreshing, and the game was really fun. Replay value is high even though you will face the same dungeon challenges, but one time through this game might be enough since its length is decent even by today's standards. If you don't own a GBA, definitely buy this game. If you own a GBA.. definitely buy this game anyway. Play it and love it.

This review refers to the DX version that was released on Game Boy Color, but it is not worth owning independently of the original game boy version. Certainly, if buying this game today, get the DX version. If you just really love Link's Awakening, don't overkill it - owning both is just silly.

fun but frusterating game

I think that this is a really fun game and all, but it is really frusterating trying to get past that seventh level. If anyone has some advice for me it would be really appreciated. The reason I rate this game with four stars overall is because of the thought they put into making it but it would have been five stars if it had anything to do with the fabled princess Zelda from the other games. But this game is ultimatley fun and anyone who hasn't tried it should try it. Another game or two people should try is The Legand of Zelda a Link to the Past, The Legand of Zelda Ocarina of Time, and The Legand of Zelda Majora's Mask. Personally I've beaten all the games listed there.
