Buggiest game I've ever played

I have never had this bad an experience with any game. The thing crashes ALL the time and get this, you have to install it in a priviledged account, but have to play it in a non-priviledged account. Ouch! I also somehow got locked into parental discretion mode. Since I did not switch it to that I obviously did not have the password to change it back. When it works, it is fun. What isn't so fun is to spend 45 minutes getting through the game, and have it quit without warning.

The one thing I suppose that does not help is that I am running it under Windows 2000, which in effect is NT5.

This is like the "Starship Troopers" of computer games.

This game is all right. Not great, just all right. It's basically the "Starship Troopers" of computer games, with lots of gore but little substance behind the endless showers of crimson. It's painfully obvious that the main selling point was supposed to be the gore, and that a good majority of the developers time was spent on making sure spilled intestines quiver at just the right speed, rather than designing smart enemies and interesting levels. The first level in the subway station is cool, as is the series of levels in the Sudan and Japan, but this does not make up for the sheer stupidity of the plot. While this game is fun to play for a little while, it is nothing compared to "Half-Life" or "Deus Ex." I would recommend that you download the demo or borrow a copy of this game before investing your hard-earned cash in a game that may very well dissapoint you.

Almost Half-Life ... but not quite

A very solid FPS. I very much enjoyed 90% of this game. Like Half-Life, it has a good story line and great weapons. This game also features some good weapons balance -- it only allows you to have a finite amount of weapons and the ammunition and health can be sparse (especially towards the end).

The Ups: Great models, story, weapons, and over all game play. This is the first single player game since Half-Life that I have played all the way through.

The Downs: The story breaks down towards the end and it gets just a little monotonous by the time you're done.

Overall: probably one of the better games that money can buy right now. Numerous games that have come out since do not measure up. It has a very nice feel, and is very polished. A good purchase you won't regret.

This is a tight game if you are into a realistic version of quake or doom. Probably not a tactical rogue spear style game, but definently fun for the whole 17+ family.

THE BEST FIRST PERSON SHOOTER EVER!!!!!!!!!!

This game is hands down the best game there ever was. There are thirty heart pounding missions with excellent Graphics and sound. There are awesome explosions and cut-in scenes, and the animations can't be beat. The graphics are run on a Quake 2 engine, But it has been HEAVILY modified. It is a must have game but its pretty gory. If you can't handle the gore Quake 2 then you can't handle this game.

'Realistic' First person shooter. All I can say is "WOW"

Folks, I have played em all. And I can tell you that Soldier of Fortune is one of a kind. Some may disagree with me, but I say that it's the first realistic first person shooter next to maybe half life. I love the fact that if you shoot a guy in the leg, he hops around on one leg, and head shots are automatic death. I love the fact that when you cut a guy, there are actual slice marks and not bullet holes or nothing at all. I love the fact that there are 'actual' weapons to choose from instead.. say.. a worm shooter made out of an alien's spleen. Not to mention the great story line. When I look at a game like this compared to say, Quake 3.. I think, 'Why am I so bored with Quake3?' The reason is this.. Quake 3's single player stinks... If you want to enjoy it and many other games like it, you need a cable modem and play a decent deathmatch. However, Soldier of Fortune's single player mode was very well thought out with a planned storyline. The effect and suspense that the levels create is sometimes spooky... I am always catching myself tilting or moving my head so I can try to peek around that corner so I can see the bad guy, and then jumping when he appears behind me. If you want a game that doesn't require a cable modem to enjoy the game, soldier of fortune is a good bet.

This game rocks

You know, i played a lot of first person shooters (even the old stuff like Blood (1) and Duke Nukem 3D or the verry old stuff like Wolfenstein 3D or Rise of the Triad)and let me tell ya' this game rocks. The weapons are cool and the blood looks realistic but the AI of the enemies is pretty bad. But if you play in hard mode you'll have a lot of fun. But beware no kids allowed here (mature teens should be ok)

Everything you need!

This game is Everything a piece of plastic could hold: Gun's, Exotic locations, Blood, Gore, and tons of moving targets(if you get what I mean). Sure this game is not for the Sensitive non-violent type but for people like me (Who could even eat through it) it's everything you ever wanted. There are unique places you can shoot people. Shoot the guy in the leg and he screams in pain. If you whip out a shot gun and shoot the guy in the head there will be no head. Shotgun in the limbs the guy is limbless. Shoot him in the groin,, well I'd hate to be him. And even more shots but I wont spoil it. Well this game is worth the price all I could do is try to convince you to buy this game. You are only cheating yourself if you waste the [money] on another game.

Best way you could spend your gaming Dollar.

Overall good game. Has flaws. Be ready for blood.

SoF is a bloody gory and occasionally disturbing FPS to even people who like movies such as fist of the north star. SoF is realistic which means its hard. Everyone i know is using the cheat codes. Slow systems havent a prayer on running this game. I would reccomend aiming higher than the system requirements. The game is overall fun but gets repetitive. No real puzzles except for turning on generators or shooting crates to reveal passageways. Arsenal is well chosen. Pretty fun but don't expect anything too challenging aside from people shooting at you. This game is for fans of testosterony action movies. One chief indicator is that at the end of EACH level, the main characters always seem to end up blowing something up in a huge explosion that they "dramatically" run away from.

In all my years of computer illiteracy, this junker takes the cake! I really can't tell you how good the game play is because I couldn't even get it to run.It simply turned the screen grey and locked up the machine!I also attempted the labyrinth that was activision/raven tech "support".The list of possible problems is immense and the planets must be perfectly aligned to even attempt it.zero stars is being kind to this rocket science clunker.Incidentally, the manual ... too!
