This is what I wish GTA3 would have been

When I heard Vice City was coming out, I was ecstatic, I loved GTA3. Then I heard the bad news: it was only going to be available on the PS2.

I was devastated. I didn't have a PS2, and I didn't really want to buy one for one game. I figured I would wait and see if perhaps Rockstar would change their mind and put it out for the rest of us. When they did, I bought it the first day it was out, hoping for more of what I loved in GTA3.

Vice City didn't disappoint. In addition to having freedom over what you did, it included new vehicles, like a moped, motorcycles, and helicopters. You could fly all over the city, taking in the scenery, or use a motorcycle to get where you were going faster.

I like the idea of being able to purchase property and do missions with it, it meant I wasn't so dependant on the storyline missions. I could purchase the ice cream factory and run around the neighborhoods selling drugged up ice cream. I could practice my boat driving skills with "Checkpoint Charlie" and if I did well enough, I'd even see a little money for my trouble, every day. And, if there was a business with a mission I couldn't pass, I could skip it, and come back to it later, if I wanted to. I didn't have to worry about it holding up my storyline, like it could in GTA3.

I liked how Rockstar added things to Vice City. You can repeat failed rampages, which I love. Not being able to repeat them always bothered me before, especially if I'd been really close to getting them done. They also added in a better radio station system, with music I remember from when I was a kid in the 80s. And, they added in two talk radio stations, which I always preferred to the music stations.

Vice City feels to me like it's less violent than GTA3 was, but it still earns its mature rating. There's a lot of blood, and you have rival gangs taking each other out, not just people coming after you. There's still the ability to kill cops, pick up hookers (although there's less of them), and run people down on a car, so people who want violence won't be disappointed.

One thing I thought was a really nice touch with this game is Rockstar's ability to tie in GTA3 and Vice City. You meet Donald Love when he's young, see what happened to Laslow before he hosted chatterbox, and Freddy, who needed a nanny even pops up. If you spent time listening to GTA3's radio stations, you'll enjoy the characters that pop up again in Vice City/

Sequal to the best 3D Mafia game.

This game was one of the few sequal that was really good. Some other games' sequals usually turn out to be crappy, but this one was amazing. You can do just about anything. In GTA3, you can only drive few transportations. In Vice City, you can drive motorcycles, cars, tanks, boats, and even helicopter if you own a mansion. You can also do more missions after you complete the game by driving a taxi, police car, tanks just to name a few. You can try to find secret packages or do stunts to earn more money. The best part, you can just go around killing anyone or drive around running away from cars. Also, if you are being chased, I think tank and heli are most helpful. You can also find police stars to stop the pursue. If you take pills, you become stronger and it becomes like matrix. As you can see, there are endless things to do. Now, I'm going to talk about the requirments. I ran this game on my Pentium 3 933, 512mb ram, ATI RADEON 8500. It worked fine. I could have used my dad's computer, which is great, but I ran it on my brother's pc which was ok to run this game. Everything was on high settings and it nver really slowed down. This shows that with a little less than medium quality pc, you can enjoy this game. I'm pretty sure that you are going to have fun playing this game, but if you don't, try playing Simpsons Hit and Run. It's not as good as GTA VC but it's the best Simpsons mafia game so far. Other than that, just get Vice City AND Liberty City.

One word: Limitless Gameplay!

That pretty much summarizes this latest edition to the GTA family. Just like all other siblings in the GTA family, Vice City has that trademark-----Limitless Gameplay(make that 2 words).
So to cut things short, I have read enough reviews about this game, and to those who gave anything below 5 stars for this game, (not that i work for rockstar or anything), perhaps it's time you take a pause from gaming and lock up your PC, and go take up golf or yoga instead. Really, I am serious.
I would love to write more, But i just remembered that I had to go take on some bad guys with Tommy---so i leave you all with a point to ponder- What do you get if you mix a bit of Max Payne, Need for Speed and Flight Simulator----the answer: GTA: Vice City Only this time WAY BETTER than any of those! Till next time......

Revolutionary; arguably the best game yet made

What do you need to know about GRAND THEFT AUTO: VICE CITY? It has sold more copies than any other game in history. It has caused various media articles on the game's extreme amount of violence and profanity. And it's true - the game is extremely violent and quite profane. And that's why we love it!

STORY: You play Tommy Vercetti, just released from jail and operating in Miami, Florida in 1986. Your mission is to get back your boss' money, but after a while, you drop that idea; with everything you've got, you could rule Miami in no time...

GAMEPLAY: [8.5/10] Nice. Occasional flaws, and everything may not move so smooth, but who cares? Run out and feel your anger flow as you beat people senseless with baseball bats. Or perhaps you'd like to let your wild side loose and run from the clutches of the Miami PD? Even better, perhaps you'd like to collect cash from the snobs you just shot. See? We told ya it was violent.

DESIGN: [8.5/10] The game's "Miami Vice"-esque style is awesome, and the design is an improvement over that of GRAND THEFT AUTO III, but we're still left wishing for more.

GRAPHICS: [9/10] Very good. For the most part smooth, fine texturing job.

SOUND: [9/10] Great. Don't you just love the sound of those bikes flying down the highway?

LENGTH: [9/10] It'll keep you playing for a while, and you'll be satisfied every minute.

DIFFICULTY: [9/10] Most all levels are a challenge, but in a good way. Very nice use of difficulty level.

OVERALL: [9/10] This game is so popular, so violent, so ugly, and so damn awesome, it's arguably the best game yet made. Final note: the music stations are outstanding. The game wonderfully captures an 80's-ish feeling.

A really fun game!

I am a thirty two year old woman. I bought this game, and it is so much fun! I can do the missions or just explore the map or just drive around and listen to my favorite 80's music. This is not for kids of course, but I would advise anyone to try this game.

Revolutionary

Go ahead, say what you like... it's too much like GTA III, it's too violent, etc. Take2 and Rockstar Games have revolutionized video games and set a new standard for developers with the Grand Theft Auto series. This game brings to the table a completely immersive environment (you get a map the size of a poster to help you get around) while you play either a linear or non-linear game. The weapons are improved from GTA III, the environments include more indoors and multi-story buildings, and of course you can now drive motorcycles and speedboats. Nothing like squeezing between bi-directional rush hour traffic on a speed bike doing 80mph.

GTA Vice City is three or four games in one. Drive around in who knows how many vehicles and it's a pretty neat driving game. Jump in an ambulance or police car to perform missions and it's a Crazy Taxi. Run around beating the living daylights out of people for fun and to get money and it's State of Emergency. Or, play the missions and it's all four wrapped in to one incredible game.

I got this game today and i love it. I already had the ps2 version, but was frusterated with the controls, as it was difficult to aim without using auto aim. The computer version is MUCH easier to control, its like a whole new game. Also, the radio is slightly changed and some missions are different. It runs very fast and smooth on my computer, which has 128mb graphics and 768 ram with a 1.8 ghz so if you have a modern computer, it should run fast. When i began playing, i thought i would just play it for a half our or so. Four hours later, i realized just how addictive this game is.

Another Grand Theft Hit

If you loved GTA3, you'll love Vice City.

As with most sequels, GTA:VC is More than GTA3. More vehicles, more weapons, more land, more sea. But it's more than that, too.

Vice City is the result of Rockstar listening to their gamers. People said that GTA3 didn't have enough missions - VC has more. Three's missions were too easy - VC's are a bit more difficult. There's more story, and more options. The motorcycles and helicopters are great additions that really add to the game without fundamentally changing it.

Your character takes on a personality that is more than just an errand boy, as he was GTA3, becoming the bad boy that you know you want to play. With all of the freedom of options in play and mission selection that you had in GTA3, VC's missions let you be a little more creative with the mission execution than before.

It's just a great game. It's what you've come to expect from Rockstar and the Grand Theft line. If R* were to keep making GTAs that were just slightly improved and expanded each time, like 3 to VC was, I'd keep buying every one.

this game is superb

Hi i would like to address those who gave this game less than 5 star. I have a P-3, 256 ram and no graphics card, but still it runs like dream in my computer.

There is so much to do in this game, you can drive, perform mission, act as a cop, fire fighter, hospital staff drive a cab. you cant just get bored of this game.

But only prob with the game is flying a heli it is very tough to fly one. But it is fun to blow off cars people, cops. there are some beau stunts that can be done by bike.

However I was unable to have sex with the horr as mentioned in the other reviews, if any one knows the tip please feel free to e-mail me at my address.

And after buying the pole postion club it is very boring to wait for the $600 bill.

anyone having some tips for this game please feel free to email me, I will be delighted to get any response.

Bye.... I got some serious business to do with Mr. Versetti in Vice City.
