Buggy with almost no documentation

Don't get me wrong - This if a fun game but there are two HUGE problems with it.
1. It's buggy, my XP system handles all my other games fine, but for some reason, this Vice City game gets it to freeze up every couple of hours of play.
2. The included documentation is a joke. I haven't been able to figure out all the controls yet, much less what some of the in game features are. I should not have to visit fan websites to learn how to play the game.

THIS IS SO COOL

It's a great game and of course not for everyone but if you like this sort of game then it is worth it.

There is nothing special about this game. Half of the cars are from GTA III but alittle bit changed, storyline again not that good. Even though it is much newer, it cannot be compared with the state of art game like Mafia

Incredible fun

This game is a much needed breath of fresh air. It's incredibly fun, and like Grand Theft Auto 3, it's very easy to pick up and play. You can easily play this game for hours on end, but you don't hours to be able to play. From the moment you start, it's seamless to start doing your thing and simply have fun.

The missions are quite fun. They're better than before, cooler, and just plain entertaining. I thought not being the nameless thug would be annoying, but it's better than ever. The story is perfect for a game of this type, and the game's atmosphere is flawless. Don't be surprised if you find a love for 80's music after playing this game.

The only downsides are like GTA3, there's bugs left in that really should have been taken care of. Also, it's rather obvious it's a PS2 port as the game's memory is rather short. You can clearly see a car coming, turn around so it's out of sight, and poof... gone. "Out of sight, out of mind." And like GTA3, after awhile the fun might wear thin and things may get repetitive depending on your tastes.

well, i love this game

this game on my celeron 1.1GB, Ati Rage Fury Pro 32MB machine is running between 5--15FPS, in 1152*864*16bit mode, in XP:)

there used to be a serious graphic problem in the game, and i searched web to get solution to this: Textures Taking To Long To Load. i saw many people were complaining on this same problem. So, by the way, i will post solution here:

All i did was set the compatability mode to win98 and checked-disable visual styles. Well that worked for me and now it run terrific.

right click on VC Shortcut
select properties
click the compatability tab

This solution is important.when i solved this problem, i love this game as much as i love GTA3:)

i used to hate this game before because of this problem, i thought it was too buggy.

Great Game!!!

I finally decided to get GTA Vice City. It was one of the best moves I have ever made. The graphics, the missions, sound effects are the best I have seen in a very long time. The missions are tricky yet keep you coming back for more every time. You will definately be hooked on this game for a very long time. The voices are also the best. I like the fact that you can buy your own property. I always hated going from one end of the city to the other just to save your game. With this property purchase feature you have an extra save point everywhere you buy a property. I recommend this game to anyone you loved GTA 3. I also recommend it to someone who wants to try something new. I don't recommend it for anyone under the age of 13 though. I loved be able to fly your helicopter and steal tanks. This is one of the best games ever produced.

Simply amazing..

This is the fourth title in the Grand Theft Auto series and by far the best one in my honest opinion. It was also the first game I got for my PS2 and man, I was hooked on it for days -- it's THAT addictive. One of the major highlights of the game is the radio stations that you can channel through while you're inside a car cruising around the roads/streets of Vice City. It features many 80's hits including Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean." The graphics are outstanding, very realistic and the climate change is also there! when you point your gun at people with the target button, they will react just like how real citizens would and some of the stuff they say is funny. You can pretty much free-explore all you want, you can visit malls and weapon shops, steal any car you want, beat up a cop and steal his car! watch out for the choppers! you can blow them down with missile launchers. I don't know how to further elaborate, you just need to play it for yourself. There are TONS of missions so you will never get bored, you can even pilot boats, helicopters, motor bikes and a wide variety of cars. This game is HIGHLY recommended if you want something that has strong replay value AND if you're an action and Scarface fan haha.

The Don of Gangster Games!

Miami, the 80's, gangsters, high-speed car chases, helicopters and speed boats. What more could you want? Well, all of that together in one package and much much more. Which is what you get in GTA Vice City.

This game is essentialy a prequal to GTA3, set in the 80's with a younger Tommy Vercetti. Without giving the game away, Tommy is sent to Vice City for....shall we say....an exchange, but is set up and lost in the city. This is where you have to guide Tommy through the city to make a living, albiet a dirty one, by helping out some freinds and ruining the lives of the local gangsters. On top of that, there are also lots of mini-games that you can play even after you've completed the game itself. Thats right...Vice City dosn't have an actual ending (but does show end credits halfway through the game, which is a bit odd). Only the endings of various missions and games of within.

There's a greater variety of vehicles on land, in water and in the air. You can also walk, but given the sheer size of the city, I wouldn't recommend it if you're in a hurry. Only one problem with the traveling: the faster cars at top speed reach their destinations too quickly for the scenery to load. So you can go from Little Haiti to Downtown, reach Downtown a few seconds before the windows and doors appear on the buildings.

Just for once, they havn't overdone the 80's theme. Instead they have given Vice City a look that it genuinely would have had in the 80's. The radio stations actualy sound as if they're in the 80's, instead of just an '80's hits compilation' with talking. The fashions are about right too.

If you're not doing buisness at any point, you can take your time and stroll around the city and get a good look at the place. You'll be suprised at what you can find when you look around. The enclosed map and tourist guide are vital for the game. Without them, newcomers will get lost and not have a clue where to go. I speak from experience. Watch those pedestrians too, they're a real bad tempered bunch.

A must for any self respecting car chase or gangster game lover. 10/10
