I'm sorry, I really, really am

Guys, it really, REALLY, pains me to do this. I am THE Matrix fan. But please, PLEASE, rent this game before you buy it.

You might read a lot of reviews where people complain about jagged edges in graphics, or unimaginative level design, or long-term replay value, or how easy it was to beat the game in 6.2 hours or less, and you might just think they are whiners. Well, they are. Get a life.

But the truth is, the game just plain falls short. When you first jump in, you are awestruck by all the cool maneuvers, and the immersion in the movie that you experience. I couldn't wait to email my friends about how cool the game was.

But the truth is, if this game was not about a movie I absolutely love, I wouldn't give it the time of day.

I really, truly, want to say nice things, and the game certainly is not without it's VERY cool elements, but in the end, I am sure the developers of the game are saying to management, "Just give us a couple more months, and we can make this game REALLY cool (and with a lot fewer bugs)." At least I hope they are saying that. If this is really the best they can do, then they really need to consider a career in custodial engineering.

I'm trying not to be distasteful, but guys, please, can we not have my character die for some esoteric reason that is not explained until I have gone through the same painful death 72 times?

Just a little continuity would be swell.

Yes, the game is still really bug-ridden. Yes, a lot of time was taken to make the bullet-time scenes look outrageously cool, but Barney Rubble looks more natural climbing a ladder than Niobe. And what the heck is up with the contrived, amateurish driving scene? I don't know if there are more to come, but I hope not!

I feel like one of those angry grunts that lives in the basement while his mom still cuts the crusts off of his sandwiches, but this game just falls dramatically short of the vision.

Everybody involved in the Matrix franchise is still going to make a lot of money from this game, but really, truly, they could have made a lot more if the story-telling in the game was a fraction of what the story-telling in the movies have been thus far.

I might play this game through to the end, just to get more peeks at the extra footage, but every time the game asks me "Do you want to jack in again?" after I have died for one of the said, esoteric reasons, I really do ask myself, "Do I? Do I really?"

MatrixMakers, please, don't do this to the fans again.

Way too little game for the money

WAY less game play than either GTA (the violence is cleaner and not bloody, but there is just as much of it). I'd say maybe 10 to 20 hours, max, less if you're obsessive with it. The modeling and movement are good, but there are holes in the plot (I thought it was supposed to be a stand alone story, but there are major plot flaws if that's so.) that are only filled by the movie. Also, when you finish the limited game play, it ends with a great big movie ad for the next movie due out later this year. That's pretty crass. All in all, while there are some aspects of this virtual environment that show promise, it seems like expensive cross-merchandising more than a real video game. Oh well.

I took the red pill. And I LOVE IT

After having this game on pre-order for weeks at the local game shop. And waiting 2 years after it was announced to finally get my hands on this. All I can say is WOW. This game finally breaks the taboo of bad movie-game translations. And gets most everything right.
Alot of people criticize this game based on the fact that the graphics arent great? I didnt see this as much of a problem. The graphics are adaquet and do the job well. Bullets actually damage the environment and shards of the walls fly around and what not rally adding to the overall coolness of the game.
The controls are my only problem. Had they adopted more of a first person shooter style control scheme(a la halo maybe) I think it would have worked alot better. Dont get me wrong the controls are nice and do the job well. They just could have been better.
And of course the "focus" ability.. Gimmick or useful? I frankly found it very useful. And being able to do cart wheels, and dives to dodge incoming bullets has saved my life more then once. Max Payne was the first game to use bullet time. But enter the matrix does a far better job. You can even see the bullet contrails like in the movie.
Overall I found this game to be extremely fun and worthy of my [money]. If your looking for a solid action title, where you can kick ass and look cool. Do yourself a favor and pick this title up.

listen i've read a lot of online reviews that give this game some bad rumors. such as the games gona freeze. If Larry and Andy waskoski wrote it and spent two years making it and keeping very secretive it won't. to the cypher review, which ever copy you had probaly wasn't taken care of properly or your system had to be cleaned out not all copies will do this so shutup!this game will rule because it has kung fu, guns, bullet time(which is a trademark of the matrix not max payne) and a original story it may or may not be cool for some but it will be mind blowing for me(because after waiting two years for one game to come out it better make me cry of joy:)

All the hype you heard about this game is just that - hype. It's an average game at best. The Tomb Raider games for PSONE are much more enjoyable than this game. The game play is stiff and it's hard to aim. The game locked up on me AT LEAST twice every hour, and no, it wasn't my PS2. This is the only game I've ever had lock up on me. I had to return it to the video store for a new one, which also locked up on me. I played with Ghost and solved this game in two days. In the end, it wasn't worth all the time and effort I put in. The best thing about this game is the Revolutions trailer at the end when you win.

There ripping you off!!!

I bought this game on thursday. It was cool the bullet-time rules.I got great satisfaction out of breakiing a guys neck in bullet-time.It is the coolest game since GTA:vice city, but i finished the game in 7 hours as ghost,i'm in shock.I didnt get to do half the stuff i wanted to do in this game ...So if your going to buy this game think about the fact that in a week it will just be sitting on your shelf gathering dust.SB

Why does everyone hate this game???????

I hate it when every one of you go "Dis game is nothing comp@R3D TO THE MOVIE! HAR-HAR-HAR!" I loved this game. Not as good as the movie, but by a short hair.

GAMEPLAY: 10/10 Great slo-mo action, and You can play as either Ghost or Niobe. They both rock. :)!

GRAPHICS: 6/10: Not the best, but still good.

SLOW MOTION: 10/10: Sucks that it's limited, but It's still all food. IT's best to shoot in slow mo so then you know who and where you're shooting.

SOUND: Music's great. Dialouge and Sound can be a little corny, though.

OVERALL: Very good. Give it a shot!

A Great Game

I recieved Enter the Matrix as a gift, and I have been thanking my parents for it ever since. This game is an original masterpiece, and it came out in perfect timing: The same day The Matrix Reloaded came out (which is an awesome movie).

You play this game as either Niobe or Ghost, two characters that had minor parts in the movie. It unfolds movie gaps as the game continues. Even if Neo isn't in this game, it still is "the one".
Niobe's travel through the Matrix and the real world is full of adventures and plot twists. Ghosts's isn't particularly different from Niobe's, but he does have some different opportunities. Niobe and Ghost are easy to handle in gameplay. It is easy to punch and kick enemies (cops, in particular). The driving scenario in this game is quite simple as well, especially if you're Ghost.

Overall, Enter the Matrix is an awesome game with great gameplay. It is easy, and if you don't have an interest in the Matrix trilogy then don't even try this game at a store.

Enter The Matrix is a great game
