A real good need for speed game with good controls and physics. The last great NFS game in my opinion, before they switched to the Underground physics. NFS Underground to NFS Carbon all pretty much drived the same. I personally preferred HP 2, plus the tracks suck in the newer games. The physics of HP 2 make it feel like a classic arcade game, easy for anyone to just pick it up and play it than the newer games. Plus it's more fun to run the cops into trees and things in this game.

I love this version of need for speed. The cop chases and racing at the same time is awesome. Very easy to control, great sound track. Recommend it to anyone that loves race games.

To date this is easily the most fun "Need for Speed" title. Totally ungrounded in reality, this game was fun to just turn on and go as fast as absolutely possible!! As low price as this game is now there is NO reason why it shouldn't be in your library of classic games.

The only thing I do not like about this game are the cops and helicopters because I'm trying to race not get pulled over all the time. However there is just a racing section, just for racing, which I enjoy alot. No cops, just racing and the graphics are really cool. This is another game I pull out often when I want to race. Great game. Tons of races and cars to unlock.
EA has done its best yet!

This game is the best racing game in the world! You get to run from the law and feel good about it.
Pros:
49 awesome racing cars
15 amazing tracks, plus 15 reverse tracks
Heart pounding pursuit chases.
Awesome Matrix cameras, freeze your car for a 360 degrre spin, or watch your car move in slow motion when going off a jump!
Realistic Graphics make you feel like you are really racing there!
Cons:
Annoying cop talk
Really crappy music
Helicopters can drop bombs,missles, and spike bombs!
I highly reccomend this game. No wonder its a PS2 greatest hit!
P.S. here's a cheat code: at the main menu put in R2x2,R1x2,L1x2,triangle x2, to unlock the calypso coast track. (a engine humming, and a message will appear if you get it right)

This is a fun game. It gets your heart pounding when the cops are right on your tail. From road blocks and spike strips, to helicopters with explosives and a good ol' police chase, you'll never know what these guys will throw at you. You can win points to buy tracks and cars. This game is easy enough that beginners get a kick out of it, but hard enough that experts will feel challenged.
There are a few things I don't like about this. The campaign doesn't give you the feeling that you are a driver in the need for speed world. (To get this kind of campaign, get Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Burnout 3: Takedown) Also, they make it a bit too easy, with wall steering you back on track, no nitrous to shake things up.
Overall, I am very satsified. Combined with Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Burnout 3: Takedown, all your car racing needs should be met. No wonder this is a classic hit game.

This game is stupid and it is the dumbest game ever made.
My ranking of 10 PS2 games is as follows:
1. The Simpsons: Skateboarding-BEST OVERALL GAME
2. The Simpsons: Road Rage-quit playing it after all fares
3. The Simpsons: Hit and Run-play about 6-10 times a year
4. Reel Fishing III
5. Nascar Games 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 (due for release in August)
6. Nascar 2000 (PS1 platform started freezing after 4 years within purchase
7. Nascar Rumble- AVERAGE OVERALL BEST GAME
8. Crash Nitro Cart and Wrath of Cortex
9. URBZ-rarely played after 4 months passed Christmas
10. Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2: WORST GAME-last time played: 11 months ago.
Which ever studio released this game is *SO cheesed off.*
So in conclusion I think this is the worst game I ever played.
PS: If you want to buy this game, one tip, it is the stupidest game made for PS2. Any rude reviews will be replied with a very nasty review by the writer of this worst game made for PS2 review.

This game has some of the best graphics ever. I love racing games and love to collect cars and race them for a bunch of money. I wanted to do that but no. It is stupid how they set this up to play the game. Don't get me wrong the graphics are the best except for GTA which is the best game ever. So if you want to collect Ferrari and Lambos then get a different game besides this. Good luck.

I did play this game, and this is a fun game. However, it is not an exceptional game as compared to Gran Turismo 3 (then again, what is?). The cops in this game are great, and the environments and environmental effects are quite spectacular. It is great that you can listen to the scanner communication between the cops, and you can adjust your strategy on the fly. Overall, this is a better multiplayer experience in Hot Pursuit mode, but the single player is quite lacking.
Now to the many criticisms...First, the cheap camera tricks such as stand-still effects is very annoying, particularly when things are getting exceptionally tricky. Next, the damage should be much more realistic. Additionally, the game should have included a 4-player or even an 8-player experience, with spectactor as an option for the other players like in NASCAR Thunder. Lastly, it is annoying that the cops in single-player mode generally focus on you, and not the other cars, especially the leader of the race (quite often) when he or she gets far ahead.
