Okami is an exellent game to say the least. The unique brush stroke system works great with the rest of the game. The story is very interesting with a ton of unforgetable characters. Wonderful art and character designs.

I've never written a review before, but I felt I must regarding this game. It is absolutely amazing and if you feel unsure about purchasing this game, do yourself a favor and buy it. It is so unique and georgous, the graphics are nothing I have ever seen before and are pure art. The story is wonderful. The music is beautiful, too. The gameplay is so fun and I love the brush stroke techniques. I would strongly recommend this game to anyone who wants to play something totally new, exciting and original.

I loved the unique visual style and gameplay. The "Celestial Brush" is a great concept that was executed exceptionally well. It seems intuitive almost from minute one.

Battles are also well done, though after a while they might start to get a little repeatative, especially to someone with a short attention span. The good news is that random fights are totally optional. Don't want to get chased down by a demon scroll and then pounced on by evil flying monkeys? Simply slice it out of the air with your Celestial Brush to momentarily stun it and be on your way.

Boss battles were done differently, of course. They require not only combat but also strategy and puzzle solving using your divine powers. I found them to be a welcome treat.

The story was excellent, combining comedy, drama, scifi, and fantasy with traditional mythology. There were a few "Return of the King"-style moments, though. You know: you think it's over, you're disappointed because there's no way it should be over, and then you realize IT'S NOT! Cause for much celebration.

The only thing I'd suggest is to come at it with an open mind. Drawing so heavily on Japanese mythology as it does, there are some times when it might come off as a little...um, odd to those of us of a different cultural background.

It's all good though, and I wholeheartedly endorse this game.

I can't stop playing!

I love platform games but often get frustrated by them when they get too hard for my old hands. I would LIKE to get into RPG's, but find keeping up with all the details in them mindboggling at times. And I love games that are just beautiful to look at. That's this. I LOVE it and can't stop playing. Don't wait! Get it!

Gorgeous game!

Everything about this game rocks!!! The soundtrack is beautiful, the premise of the game is amazing, and it is a feast for the eyes. Usually I bug my husband to turn off his games, but I can watch him play this one for hours. In a world of games about stealing cars, war, etc., it's wonderful to be able to find a gem like this out there.

This game is amazing!!!!

I just beat it and all I have to say is "wow". 1 of my all time favorite games, and I have been gaming for a long time. This is innovative, funny, beautiful, and just fun!!!! I was a little worried that such a great game might have a bad ending (Kingdom Hearts anyone), but the ending was just as great as every other part of the game!!!! All I say is this is great, so buy it!!!!

That Brush is Frustrating!

That's the only reason why I didn't pick 5's for both. I didn't buy this through Amazon, I bought it in a game store. Otherwise, the graphics are beautiful, the music is good, & there's lots to do so the game isn't going to be a short one. But there aren't enough save points in the game, the voices can start to bother you(especially when you have to keep doing a part repetitively because the brush won't work for you & if they have a long part you can't skip it)& the brush is very picky, but when you can't use it you do miss it. I'm sure once I finish it, that it'll be played over & over again though. It is very enjoyable even though certain parts of it have made me curse at it. I'm only 50 hours into it, so I'm sure there''s more cursing to come.

Okami Rocks!

Being a big fan of Japanese art and culture, I loved this game. The storyline is loosely based on the story of the sun goddess, Amateresu. Of course, much of the real story has been twisted a bit to make gameplay more interesting.

This game takes Japanese water color artwork and brings it to life. The landscapes and characters are beautiful.

I was sad when I reached the end of the game..I wanted more. While watching the credits, I discovered that the game designers had given me what I wanted. I'm not going into detail (don't want to spoil it), but if you watch the end credits after beating the game, you might just find that you need to play the game again. ;)

There are so many side quests in this game, it would be nearly impossible to complete them all before beating the game at least one time. Many of these side quests will enhance your abilities or give you special items that are not available from the merchants that are scattered throughout the lands.

After beating the game two times, I still want more! I hope there are more games like this in the future, and I hope that they are good enough to rival Okami.

It is good because it feels like Zelda with some interesting and innovative features like the Celestial Brush and some RPG elements, but sometimes, that resemblance don't let show the greatness of this game. It is beautiful, fun and entertaining. The annoyance of the voices of the characters during dialogs and the bad precision of the analog stick for the celestial brush hurting sometimes the action during battles, don't let me give it a 5 star rating. Even though, it is highly recommended to anyone enjoying a game full of action adventure and RPG elements on it.

the best ps2 game.... ever....
