Fun, Challenging, and Stylish

I've had this game for about a week and gotten through 2 of the 5 levels. The levels are fairly long by the way, with several sub-levels. The controls are responsive and the camera is good and adjustable. So far the locations and tasks have been diverse and real to the theme of the game. The stealth isn't as extreme as MGS2 or Tenchu but it still can be tricky. This may not be a game for the button smasher koopa crusher like my wife, but it is a game which places one in control of a cool looking character with enough challenge and mini-games to keep the replay value high. The master thief timer really helps promote replay. Honestly I wish it had more freedome like jack and daxter does but that just means there could be room for improvement.

There is a nostalgia to this game that reminds me of some classic cartoon. It is a game worth buying since it has a ton of mini-games and it can be played over and over with the master thief timer. One point to mention is that re-sale value for these platform games is usually fairly high so if you can get 2 months of fun out of this game you can justify buying versus renting. To me this is definetly a keeper.

Short, but sweet!

Beautifully rendered levels, intuitive controls, and varied gameplay make this a great platformer. The storyline is fun, if not a bit dopey at times. The boss battles take on different formats: ranging from memory-testing button mashing battles to typical Crash Bandicootesque skirmishes. This adds variety to the gameplay. The moves learned from collecting all pieces of the Thievious Racoonus are typically worth the hassle of finding all of the level's hint bottles, though some are totally useless. The two standout drawbacks for me were the game's length(about 10 hours of total gameplay) and lack of difficulty. This left me wanting more. Other than that, this is one solidly constructed game that should be on the top of everyone's rental list, but left out of your shopping cart.

Entertaining

A game for the whole family. Challenging enough for the kids, but not too easy.

Sly Cooper is a really cool game

What I think is really good about Sly Cooper is that it loads very, very fast and the scenes are really cool. Some parts of the game are hard and some parts of the game are easy. But don't get too excited about finding all the clues and opening all those vaults. And another thing, it gets a little bit tricky on the third level. Buy this game if you get a chance!

best game ever!!!

I first saw previews for this game in a magazine and thought the "cell-shading" graphics looked cheap and unprofessional. By the time the game came out, I couldn't wait to buy it. I recieved the game as an A Honor Roll present, and it was excellent. The graphics are incredibly smooth and all-out amazing. I now actually prefer this style to the traditional 3-D graphics. The shadows amazed me.

I loved to play this game because the controls are so easy to master it makes you feel light and quick. Many a time I felt like I was a light-footed, smooth-talking raccoon. Certainly, Sucker Punch achieved the thievy, quick-like action Sly should have. Another thing that amazed me was the storyline. The characters are perfectly placed and make you see the "bad" thieves because Sly is evidently a "good-guy with morals" deep down. Sometimes very deep down. The only thing was that I wanted more! The game really wasn't as long as most other games. Finding all 30 clue bottles in each of the levels wasn't extremely difficult, although some gave me trouble. Also, the music is exciting and intertaining, unlike so much of the annoying music we get on other video games. My personal favorite music was on the Panda King's domain :) The time trials were challenging, but not so impossible like collecting all the precursor orbs on Jak 2 and Jak 3 (bleh).

I was extremely happy when Sucker Punch came out with another excellent game, Sly 2: Band of Theives. I would strongly suggest buying both of them, as the first one is a kind of introdution of all characters and getting Sly's book back, and the 2nd is more involving with a much more complex storyline. Both of the games were excellent, but this one just wasn't long enough. 5 stars for the pure fun and excitment, 4 stars because it was just a little too short. Another thing, you DO NOT need to buy any guides whatsoever to complete this game. Have fun exploring all the interesting worlds that Sly visits on his exciting journeys.

Sly cooper 1 is a really cool game.Who you are is a fox trying to get back 5 pages of a book called the Thievious Raccoonus stolen on the night sly's father was to give it to him.It was stolen by 5 villan's.And now sly's going to get the pages back by stealing from the villans. You can jump, slide and more.As you go you break bottles to break open a safe to get cool new tricks.

Simple platforming fun.

There's not really much to say about this game. It has a cell-shaded style (which I predict will look pretty dated in 3 to 4 years). It's your basic platformer that tosses in a few extra stealth elements to spice up the mix.

Regardless, all these little 'extras' really help to keep the game's fun juices going, this makes for such a creative, diverse game. Everyone should play it.

I finally beat a game!

Yes! Woo hoo! I just beat this game a few minutes ago! Ahem... Anyway, this is one of the best PS2 games you can buy. It's incredibly short though. It only took me about a month to finish it, and I just got a PS2 for Christmas! This proves that even a newbe can triumph over the Fiendish Five. If you want to know, here is my scale on dificulty for each FF member. The results are based on how long it took me to kick their butts!
Sir Raleigh: Medium because he was the first of the bunch and I wasn't sure what to expect. It took me about 7 tries.
Muggshot: Easy because after getting the hang of things, you can just run around hitting mirrors untill he gets fried. It took me about 4 tries.
Mz. Ruby: Easy if you got the beat, because she sends blasts of voodoo at you and you have to hit the corresponding button when it gets to you. It follows a beat, so it was fairly easy. It took me about 3 tries.
Panda King: Medium because he's harder to hit than the others. After you get a few good smacks in on him, he sends you flying back to where you started. It took me about 5 tries.
Clockwerk: Hard because well, he's the boss! He's definately my favorite out of the FF. He's the coolest looking robot owl I have ever seen. Be warned, just getting to him is half the challenge. It took me about, uh, 10 to 15 tries.
This game is for anyone. It has a lot of good concepts and is good for people who are just learning the basics of PS2. Just look at me! I beat it in a month and I'm a novice! My next mission: Sly 2!
