this is the best spyro games ever! if everyone said this game was stupid DONT LISTEN TO THEM! this games load times are very fast there even faster than crash bandicoot the wrath of cortex. any way in the begining spyro, hunter, sparx, and bianca are having a party with the dragonflies. until crush, gulp, and ripto come out of nowhere. then ripto puts a spell on the dragonflies even sparx! they were suppose to go back to riptos castle but something went wrong. all of the dragonflies got scarted all arcoss the new dragon world. spyro finds sparx fast. sparx tells spyro that all the dragonflies were taken. now spyro has to save the dragonflies. also in the levels you get these power stones you return them to this dragon statue and he will give spyro a new power. spyro gets ice, electricty, bubbles, and wing shield. this game is really cool. dont miss this game!

A VERY good game!(no matter what you say!)

I really enjoy this game. Come on people, it's not bad!Sure, it freezes up. So what? On Year of the Dragon I've had it freeze up. And so what if the loading times are long? It is good so that if you need to use the bathroom or something, you can. The game really has a lot to offer. Come on, it's the new Spyro maker's first Spyro game! We remember Season of Ice right? It did need some improvements. And now Season of Flame has won an award! This game is good people. Don't listen to what they tell you. It has a nice story line, game play, sounds, EVERYTHING!

load longer than level

The graphics really aren't improved enough to make up for the loading issues, nor are the levels that long. Plus these 5+ minute loading times are there not only when you go to a different world and/or level, but also when you enter a mini-game within a level. This makes leaving and coming back to something more time consuing than doing a part at that very moment because you'll load while leaving the mini-game, then load while leaving the level, and load 2 more times getting back to that mini-game. There are major glitches in the PS2 version, I don't know about any other versions. I've beaten every Spyro game, and this would have otherwise been as good as the others. I'd recommend having a portable game to play during the loads or something else to occupy that time, or not playing.

Waste of money!!!

The play is way too slow, the graphics are the same as the PS1 Spyro games (although I HIGHLY recommend those). Definitely NOT worth close to $50. This game makes it clearly obvious that Insomniac Games, Inc. is the ONLY video game company who knows how to make a Spyro game.

Waste of Money!!!!!

For the last 2 years I have been waiting on Spyro to come out for PS2 - well it did and what a disappointment!!!!! The camera angles are just awful - they can't keep up with the action. The graphics are done as if by a 3rd grader and there isn't an original idea in the whole game. It has all been taken from the previous 3 Spyro games and the worst part is that all 3 of those are far superior to the one made especially for the PS2. Was leery when Spyro 3 came out and it wasn't by Insomniac, but was pleasantly suprised - same hopes for Year of the Dragonfly - didn't pan out. If you must play this Spyro - RENT IT - DON'T BUY IT!!!! Not a good Christmas present idea if your children are familiar with Spyro and have any game skills are all.

PLEASE....Rent it first

I love the first 3 Spyro games (the ones done by Insomniac). Unfortunately "Enter the Dragonfly" was not done by Insomniac. Although this newest Spyro adventure is on the PS2, it looks more like a bad PS1 game. The graphics are overly simple, blocky and pop in and out. (The ground or the sky sometimes just disappear). The frame rate (how smooth the whole thing feels) is painfully slow and the animations are poor. Don't even ask me about the load times, they are forever.

Take a minute and look around in the magazines or on line and try and find a professional review of the game, I haven't found one yet. Universal knows they've got a stinker here and their only hope is to try and sell this game on the success of the first three Spyros before the word gets out. (Hence, lots of ads but no reviews)

If you want to play some great games (from teams that know how to design a game and use the power of the PS2) try Sly Copper or Ratchet & Clank. (Ratchet & Clank is what Insomniac did instead of making a new Spyro game)

Some Spyro fans seem to be very happy with the new Spyro, but my suggestion would be to rent it first!!!!!!!!

Everything bad said about this game...

... is absolutely correct, folks. Don't bother buying this. Seriously. I LOVED Spyro. I really did. 1, 2, and 3 for the PS1 were totally awesome. Granted, the character graphics were just a little too polygon-based in the end, where PS1 games were starting to get a little more polish before the PS2 was released, but by Spyro: Year of the Dragon (3) the lovable polygon-based characters had already grown on the fan-base at large. Aside from that, all three games actually had LARGE worlds to explore, interesting side-quests, and even a secret world to conquer at the very end.

Well, Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly had none of that. NONE.

I received this game for Christmas when it came out, and by golly I was psyched. Long, agonizing story short, this game was pushed out of the door WAY too quickly. The frame rate is choppy, the controls lack the fluidity of the former games, and the polygon-based characters have now been replaced with big, PS2-rendered globs of animated crap. For real folks, the characters are frightening. Take all of this, and add in-- not orbs, not eggs-- DRAGONFLIES to collect. Oh it SOUNDS fun, but with the craptastic controls and of all things... BUBBLE BREATH (st00pid!), by the end of the game, if you haven't gotten caught in a scenery clipping issue, had Sparx get stuck on-screen for no reason, and actually managed to catch all the dragonflies without turning the power console off and tossing the disc in the garbage, then hats off to you. Yes. I did beat this. I'm not proud.

Bottom line folks: save your pennies and don't bother.

What a horrible game

This game is one of the worst games that I have ever tried. When my friend went to his hometown for the weekend, he lent me the ps2, lending me GTA VC and Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly. GTA was pretty good, i dont see whats so great about it but... spyro is just horrible!!! The other spyro games make it seem like you are free jumping into the air and feel like an actual flying thing. This is so annoying it feels like you are controlling an elephant... seriously! He jumps and [waddles] down onto the ground. The abilities are really stupid, and the plot is just plain sh*tty. I mean, come on, this game doesnt take more than 6 hours to completely unlock EVERYTHING and thats if you want to waste money and time on this crap. It's disgusting.. with jumping limited (he can jump like 2 inches) I've attempted to jump up to a platform, which makes me fall 90% of the time, then i have to climb 5 other platforms to get back to it. And when you run into a wall or object it rumbles and gives you a feeling that a slow, stupid elephant has ran into a wall and gotten hurt. I would never buy this game, you have to unfreeze dragons, which look like a bigger, fatter, even stupider (if you can imagine possible) spyro that gives you a bunch of coins. The loading times are just HORRIBLE! I had to wait like 15 minutes for the game to get to the title screen, then another half hour getting through all the stupid cut-scenes and loading times to actually PLAY this game. This game is a COMPLETE waste of money and it will be disappointing for all spyro's fans.

Bottom line: If you buy this game you will definately be disappointed, if u like it, get it, but im warning you the game gets VERY annoying in all aspects, and now that ive tried it out there is NO way I am EVER getting this.

It was a fun game to play until...

well, I started playing this game a lot when i first got it and it was fun. I had completed only about 3 levels when i decided to take a break from ps2. So then i just forgot about the game, until i found it piled under a bunch of other games i was "hey i should try to complete this" So i did. I didn't get all the dragonflies or gems (infect i was only missing 15 gems in the whole game, i knew where they were, i just couldn't get them) but then came ripto. I was like "ok im gonna beat him and get transported to another world" Now im a huge spryo fan and i loved the other and i really liked this one, but once i beat ripto...THE CREDITS ROLLED and i was like "what the..." ya know. It was just soo disappointing. It is a fun game, but very short. I would have given it a higher rating, but the end disappointed me that much. I guess i'll just have to wait for the next spryo to come out. Also, The graphics also kept messing up on me. But other than that, it's not that bad. Like i said just very short
