Good game

Spyro all the way. Not the best game I've ever played, but it is a very good platform game. I hope to see that if another Spyro game is released it will be even better and will be multiplayer. But all in all I like the game and recommend it. There are new characters, new vehicals, added skills and tons of more stuff. Grab yours today.

This is different.

I loved Spyro on PS1 and I couldn't wait to get a PS2 to play Enter the Dragonfly. Well,I got it on day and I hated the graphics and dialouge. I thought the worlds were coool, but not that much fun. I also didn't like how Spyro looked when her moved. It looked so bad and fake. I couldn't wait for a new Spyro to come out after I played Enter the Dragonfly.

What the game is REALLY like.,

The goal of this game is to go around and catch 90(?) dragonflies which Ripto, Spyro's worst enemy, has taken away from his dragon homeland. His goal is to get them back and have them free. Spyro has his companion, Sparx, a golden dragonfly with him to help him on the way, as well as some other friends, like Bianca and Hunter. In this game, you get new abilities (such as fire breath, ice breath, and bubble breath; to catch dragonflies), meet your friends, battle space cows, and the most excitable part of all, battle Ripto.

This game is so enjoyable and has beautiful graphics. It's greatly animated and the characters fit the plot of the game perfectly. The voices fit the characters, the characters fit the scene and background-it all just fits together so perfectly.

And about what other people are saying:

What I've seen in past reviews the loading and the waiting. You people really need patience; it's only 30-60 seconds, and there aren't that many breaks. HELLO, you're supposed to rate the GAME, not how long it takes to get to the next level / get to the gem / rob the Easter bunny / WHATEVER. There are reasons why whoever made the game put 30 seconds of loading. If it didn't take time to load, the game would be a big squished piece of blob, and there would probably be only one world, which would make the game just plain boring. And, this means you can go to the bathroom, or reach that Coke you've been thirsting for.

I'm not currently having "freezing" problems or anything on the game, as anyone else has. It's only happened to me once or twice, to be honest. To keep from freezing and losing your game, just make sure you save your game often, and make sure you have a memory card BEFORE you buy this game (or play it), otherwise you'll get so far (most of the time, you'll get much farther than you expected), and you cannot save it.

And so what if the game is easy? It's OK for the game to be easy, as long as the game is long, exciting and interesting. Even though it's hard to die, it takes about 10 hours on average to complete the game if you were to play it straight.

For a fun time check out Spyro

Howdy. Hope u are doing well. I just got spyro and it's a pretty decent game. The various environments are pretty dope. There are a lot of them and some are very different, giving the game a variety. He also can shoot different things like electricity, ice and bubbles. For a fun time, check out the game. Great for all ages.

Don't bother....terrible!!

Game is not smooth, tremendous load times and hangs up occasionally. Definitly not on par with past Spyro games and NOT worth the 49.95 they charge. The developers should be ashamed!Compared to the graphics and game play of a game like Jak and Daxter this is truly disappointing. Save your money. I wish I had.

This is the worst of the Spyro Games

This game has so many clitches it is unbelievable they actually released it. The game locks up, the graphics are slow, Spyro has a lag time when given commands. Noises stick too. The atlas information is so blurry I can't make out some of the things. I have had to walk through portal or gates several times to get them to activate. Loading time is ridiculous. There is no indication of which portals lead where. Over all this game is awful but because you spend fifty bucks on it you feel the need to play it or be ripped off. Actually I just feel ripped off period.

The other Spyro games are much better than this. The creators have loaded the game with so many unneccesary graphics (like glitzy rings on speed ways and starry and glittery air tunnels). You almost think you will have a seizure if you watch too long. It would take forever to list the things wrong. I would suggest not to buy it. But if you are an avid Spyro fan like myself you will not listen. See for yourself then (like I had too). I just wanted to warn you

As a Spyro lover, I am ashamed of this game...

WARNING: The new Spyro game is HORRIBLE. Do not waste your money on this.

Now understand that I am a huge Spyro fan. I fully completed every previous Spyro game, I even own the large stuffed Spyro plush and had him watching me play. I was so excited about this new game, I figured even if it was only as good as the others and not even improved for the PS2, then I would love it just to have new Spyro to play. Well it turns out that it's not even close to as good as the others! This is the biggest piece of junk I've played in a long long time. The design is just hideous, nothing special or exciting about the game at all. They added almost nothing new to the Spyro formula, which like I said would be ok to me, yet what they did change really stinks. The various breaths you can use are useless and annoying, they don't really use them to any useful purpose yet you keep having to switch breaths which gets old after the 100th time you try to kill something with bubbles and have to take a hit while you switch back. The picking up of items is also not used to any real purpose, it's just there like they added it just to say it's different. That is the whole feel of the game, they just added these stupid little trinkets to make it seem different, yet they all just seem like useless window dressing. Then they changed the objective to having to chase down the dragonflies you are collecting which is too annoying for words. Wouldn't they WANT you to save them??? Why are they taunting you and running? The control is worse than previous Spyro games, the camera is horrible and often causes you to lose a life because it moves at the wrong time or gets embedded in a wall. There are tons of clipping issues, graphics glitches, I had the sound lock up on me and continually play the dragonfly flutter for about a half hour til I got to a new area, it's crashed on me twice, there are typos in the text, the voiceover often says something different than what's printed, Spyro says the exact same thing every time you pick up a dragonfly: "hey, it's soandso" which is SO annoying it's pathetic, and the thing bogs down like a 286 trying to play Quake to the point that it's almost unplayable. The WORST part is that I could live with all that if the game was fun and exciting. The best part about Spyro that made me love it so much was all the secrets and hidden areas you had to find. That was a basic component of the whole experience. But for some unfathomable unmentioned reason, they put NOTHING in this, no secrets whatsoever, nothing exciting to do, no joy to exploring a level. And the level designs are derivitive, boring, and extremely linear. The raceway minigames are EXACT clones of previous Spyros (well except the fact there is no secret Hunter to locate or anything). The other games are easy and also derivitive. Oh another thing, they didn't even bother to label the portals to the minigames! You have no idea where anything leads, so if you ever want to go back to a game you couldn't complete, you have to guess that you have the right portal and if it's wrong, it will cost you a good ten minutes as you wait for that level to load and then again to go back. They even screwed up the sounds, like after a level when all the gems fly into your bank, there are only 4 simple dings now instead of the cajangle they used to make. The graphics are only marginally better than the PS1 games. The levels are still undetailed and look just like the PS1. The particle effects for smoke, water, fog, etc, are nice and the higher resolution makes everything smoother, but nothing wowing. Oh and did I mention the 4 hour load times? You have time to catch a nap between levels. Seriously.

As a diehard Spyro fan, I regretably urge you not to waste $50 on this game. Rent it if you want to see it for yourself, but even that would be a waste of money as far as I'm concerned.

nothing to write home about

Basically they ran out of ideas. This is barely different than any of the other Spyro games. You'd think that with an opportunity to really do something with a fun game like Spyro on PS2 it would have been a lot better.Big letdown.

Wait a few months before purchasing

My wife and I are great fans of the first 3 Spyro games and quickly purchased this one when it became available. However, after just a few minutes playing we were highly disappointed. I would recommend waiting a few months to see if Universal Interactive will finish debugging the game and release an updated version. During our first 30 minutes of play the game froze the PS2. It froze 3 times during our first day of play. Occassionally, sound bites or background sound would swap with some other sound and the the wrong speech would come from a character or a background sound would get into a tight loop and drown out most other sounds. Then there is the jerkiness of the contols; they just don't have the smoothness from the earlier games. Last point I want to make, although I could go on, is that the load times seem overly excess. The game can take a minute or two to load levels. I don't have many games for the PS2, but this seems out of the ordinary. I'd prefer commercials over watching the 30 frame animation repeat for 2 minutes. My impression is that Universal rushed the game before it was ready to make it in time for the holiday season. I just hope that they fix these problems (and issue a recall) before the many fans of this game turn their back on the series forever and no more are made.

PLEASE...Rent it first

PLEASE...If you've been dying to play a new Spyro game, rent "Enter the Dragonfly" before you spend (waste??) your money.

I love the first 3 Spyro games (the ones done by Insomniac). Unfortunately "Enter the Dragonfly" was not done by Insomniac. Although Spyro is now on the PS2, it looks like a PS1 game, and a bad PS1 game at that. The graphics are overly simple, blocky and pop in and out (huge pieces of the ground or the sky sometimes just disappears), the frame rate (how smooth the whole thing runs) is as PAINFULLY slow. The animations are poor and don't even ask me about the load times, they are forever.

Take a minute and look around in the magazines or on line and try and find a professional review of the game. Apparently Universal never sent out any review copies. (They know they've got a stinker here) However, Universal has spent lots of money advertising the game. Universal's only hope is to try to sell this game on the success of the first three Spyros before the word gets out.

If you want some great games (from teams that know how to design a game and use the power of the PS2) try Sly Copper or Ratchet & Clank. (Ratchet & Clank is what Insomniac did instead of making a new Spyro game)

Some Spyro fans seem to be very happy with the new Spyro, but my suggestion would be to rent it first!
